Tranquil stay in spotless accommodation
My daughter, mother and I spend a very happy 3 nights in Badger's Sett over the Christmas period. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly need. The kitchen was well-equipped, the living room was cosy and comfortable with a wood burner and our bedrooms were lovely. The only slight concern was the towel rail in bedroom 2 which was hotter than the sun but, to be honest, I'm sure this was due to user error! My daughter was thrilled to meet Pickles and Branston, the resident pony and goat who she could see from her bedroom window every morning - a real treat. A great bonus was also the use of the country club facilities - we had the entire pool to ourselves on more than one occasion. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone looking for a stay in the Southampton/Fareham area. It's off the beaten track and very peaceful but you're only 5 mins away (in a car) from shops and amenities. Post script - if you are visiting the area be sure to check out Winchester (and the gorgeous Theatre Royal) but give the acquarium at Portsmouth a BIG swerve. It's expensive and filthy dirty - every toilet overflowing in the Ladies and Disabled toilets - simply revolting.
Lovely, clean well equipped cottage.
We stayed for three nights in late October whilst visiting relatives in a Southampton. The cottage was very cosy and warm just as the weather started to cool down. It’s ideally situated for the New Forest and also for Portsmouth and situated in a very peaceful rural location despite being a short drive from the M27.
The use of the pool within the health club was an added bonus and the staff were also very friendly and helpful.
I would definitely recommend the cottage and we will hopefully book it again the next time we are down this way.
We enjoyed our time at squirrel Drey cottage, it had everything we needed and we particularly the use of the club facilities. Good base for exploring the local area with the kids. Would recommended fort Nelson, Portsmouth docks and porchester castle for history fans.
We had a very nice stay in our cottage. The cottage is modernly furnished and has two bathrooms. For holidays with a teenager very good! The key handover worked perfectly. Even with minor problems someone took care of immediately.
Near the cottage is a small town forest and also a small supermarket.
We have made many trips, for example in the New Forrest, Southampton, Portsmouth, Seaside and Isle of Wright. As a starting point, the cottage is well located. To the beach you have to go by car.
Wonderful place, would highly recommend!!!
Squirrels Drey really was a Home from home. Stylish touches and very comfortable beds. Having our own private garden was an absolute bonus as the weather was so good. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!!
A really comfortable, well equipped bungalow. Nice welcome pack of milk, biscuits and apple juice. The only thing it lacked was outdoor space for sitting. The swimming pool was very nice, on the two occasions we used it we had it to ourselves. Perfect situation for visiting Portsmouth Naval Dockyard, Exbury gardens and the New Forest.
Whether your interests lie in bird watching, walking, sailing, theme parks or shopping you'll find something that suits all tastes, ages and abilities not far from our doorstep.
