Overview

About the property

Just for you - a charming, one-bedroom, sunny house over 3 floors in the picturesque village of Magalas. It's just a short stroll away from restaurants, bars, shops, the weekly market and a railway station (with daily services to main-line Bèziers station and twice-daily buses.). The village is halfway between the Mediterranean and the mountains. Walking, canoeing, beaches, wine-tasting are all available within a short drive.

Recently refurbished, there’s a fully-equipped modern kitchen, a cute and stylish sun-drenched courtyard with barbecue and a living area with TV/DVD. And to keep you super connected we’ve installed VDSL internet and a cellphone booster.

Up the staircase is a bathroom with corner tub, shower and washing machine and a dining area with books, games, a balcony and views.

Up the second staircase is a spacious bedroom with brand new bed-linens and a dressing room. (AS THE HOUSE HAS A STEEP APPROACH AND IS ON THREE FLOORS IT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR ANYBODY WITH MOBILITY DIFFICULTIES.)

Original art and photographs come as standard and there’s also a secure basement where you can store your bikes. The Tour de France regularly passes through or nearby the village.

A perfect little house to hole up in or to use as a base from which to walk, cycle, tour and taste wine from the local vineyards.

Wheelchair inaccessible. Non-smoking only. Strictly no children under 18

About Lizzie Ballantyne

Lizzie & Ali, originally from the UK, have lived in France since 2002. For ten years they ran the 10th most popular B&B in the whole of France (TripAdvisor). In their former lives Lizzie was an IT specialist and Ali a TV announcer. Lizzie is now a silversmith and Ali makes soft furnishings.

Why Lizzie Ballantyne chose Magalas

When we were looking for a property to let to visitors we remembered how difficult it was to find an entire house for two people. We wanted to find somewhere romantic, where nothing had to be shared, where a couple could relax in uninterrupted comfort.

This little house immediately stole our hearts. It is small but has every amenity, including a charming courtyard for those balmy evening barbecues, or a sunny breakfast. When we bought it, the house had been entirely refurbished to a high standard. Nothing else in the area touched it for quality, facilities and comfort, so we had to buy it!

Since then we have had guests from all over the world who have been charmed by the house and all that the area has to offer. The only difficulty is choosing between the beach, the mountains, visits to historic towns, street theatre, wine-tasting, canoeing or simply sitting at a café and watching the world go by.

Delightful little house

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week staying in this charming little property. It was just as described, very comfortable, clean and beautifully furnished. The bed in particular was extraordinarily comfortable.

Lizzie and Ali had thought of everything, right down to a box of matches for lighting the candles! The Boulangerie is just a few minutes walk from the house, excellent for fresh croissants each morning.

A perfect base for exploring local villages, vineyards and historic Pezanas, and only 30 minutes from the Mediterranean beaches.
