About Ted Mizzi
Ted M.Mizzi is the author of The Rotunda - A Testament To Faith, Courage, And Love. The book is available from amazon.com It is a faithful testimony of the history, the evolution and the remarkable construction of this magnificent church that dominates the skyline of the island. It attests to the indomitable spirit, unfailing courage, sheer perseverance and the remarkable skill of the villagers, the Xewkin. Rarely had such an impoverished village built such a grand monument. Rarely had human motivation seemed more determined. The noble architecture of this building, inspired by an Archpriest with a passion for construction, leaves memories that linger for years. Each visitor entering the Rotunda is rapt in awe at the vision of eight, beautiful proportionate columns, on which the 45,000 tons dome sits. More than a building, it is a mirror and weave of an idyllic island. Moreover, it is a faithful exaltation and reminder of its incomparable destiny, a glory of modern architecture. With an almost absolute supremacy, so immensely rising above the skies, reaching towards heaven, with its two imposing domes, one mightier than the other, the Rotunda proclaims far and wide that this is indeed a temple of God.
Ted Mizzi purchased this Villa in 1994

The property is within a few minutes walking distance to three mini-markets, namely Strawberry, Crai and St.John supermarket, the latter has a butcher shop and is also open on Sunday mornings. The picturesque pebbly beach of Mgarr ix-Xini where Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt shot their movie By The Sea is about 30 minutes' walk. Similarly, Victoria/Rabat, the capital, is less than 25 minutes walk; the bus stop is 100 meters away from the farmhouse. Xewkija is famous for its contemporary parish church known as The Rotunda. I have written a book entitled The Rotunda - A Testament To Faith, Courage, And Love and is available from amazon.com The village with a population of 3,000 has an eccentrically suburban air for an agricultural community. Men on ancient lilac-colored vespas roar noisily through the streets wearing soup bowl helmets and shot guns slung across their backs, young boys goad a donkey through the main square; a handful of people too old to work in the fields sit beside their bamboo-slatted front doors awaiting the cool of the day, while tourists gawp at their cathedral size church.
