Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday condo in Saint Helena Island

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 2-5)

Come enjoy a family-oriented, gated resort community, on the South Carolina coast. Our unit is a great vacation spot for couples or families. It features one bedroom (one and one-half baths) with a screened porch off the living room. You can relax with your morning coffee on the porch as you enjoy a beautiful ocean view. The master bedroom features a queen sized bed and the sofa in the living room converts to a queen-sized bed. There is also a chair and a half that opens to a twin bed. All bed linens and towels are provided.

The unit also features a fully equipped kitchen with stove, microwave, dishwasher, ice maker and coffee maker. We suggest stopping at Publix (grocery store) on your way out of Beaufort. It is on the left after you cross Lady’s Island Bridge over the inter-coastal waterway after you go through downtown Beaufort on Route 21. Or, stop at Gay’s Seafood (on your right) before you cross the Harbor River bridge across from the famous (featured in Southern Living) Shrimp Shack.

The unit also features wireless internet access. A laundry room is available right next door.

Harbor Island is an ocean paradise for anyone who enjoys natural beauty! Even in peak season, the island and the beach are not crowded. The natural beauty of the island is personified in the graceful sand dunes covered with sea oats and coastal grasses, its tidal creeks and salt-water marshes, and its abundant wildlife. Whether you like exploring, or relaxing is more your style, Harbor Island offers three miles of pure, untamed sandy beach.

The Beach and Racquet Club offer a large pool, as well as a kiddie pool. There is also volleyball and a playground available. Tennis courts and basketball and shuffle board are also there for more family fun.

The Low country is a region steeped in history, natural beauty and distinct architectural style. The true historic “Old South,” with its entire cultural heritage, is just a short drive from Harbor Island. Centuries old cities like Beaufort, Charleston and Savannah will delight you with their grand plantations, museums, galleries and southern hospitality. Beaufort is a short 15 minute drive and Savannah and Charleston are both about an hour away.

If you are interested in fishing, the 1120-foot former Paradise Pier is now part of Hunting Island State Park, the next island over. Hunting Island also is home to the only lighthouse in S.C. open to the public. We provide a Passport Pass for one vehicle entrance to the park.

One gate pass and cleaning fee included in all rentals.

About Kathy Harrell

We are semi-retired and live in southeast Georgia. Dave has been in business communications and cell tower work and Kathy is a retired special educator who still does some consultation work.

Kathy Harrell purchased this condo in 2008

Why Kathy Harrell chose Beaufort area

After having another unit on the second floor of this building, we were interested in expanding to offer more space for our growing family. This end unit on the first floor seemed ideal so we purchased it when it became available.

What makes this condo unique

This end unit is great for its proximity to the pool and the beach. The view is great and you have it from the bedroom window, too!

Guestbook comments from the owner

From our guest book in our condo: "The place is wonderful! It is so cozy and we had a wonderful visit! The view is amazing!"

Great spot for a quick getaway

  • 4 of 5

This was just what we wanted for a 3-day getaway to celebrate her 60th birthday. We have been to Harbor Island several times and are very familiar with the area. Only a couple of issues, one being the Wifi username and password don't work and I had to pay $20.99 to the internet company for 3 days service and also had to go to store for light bulbs to replace in several critical areas. The fluorescent bulb fixture in main bathroom still doesn't work. Everything else was great and we hope to go back .

We wanted to have beautiful weather, perfect beach and a great condo. Our expectation was exceeded!! Condo L101 was delightful and was a great location. The condo was very clean and nice.

We enjoyed the pool, the beach and location to all the things we wanted to do. Only problem, time pasted too fast!

Relaxing and peaceful get away

  • 5 of 5

The condo was perfect for myself and husband. Enough room and clean. We loved the screen in porch with ceiling fan and the view of marshes, boardwalk and ocean was great.

Everything that you need is provided. There were some minor issues (some that we were not even aware of) and they were taken care of immediately.

Beach is great for walking. It is not the best for swimming due to changes in tides and sand bars. The sunrises are wonderful. Visiting the state park is a must. The beaches there are big and great for swimming.

Great restaurants to eat at. Dockside was our favorite. Had to wait but we'll worth it. Went there twice.

A pool is right next to the condo which was very convenient. There is a larger pool too.....try the water aerobics.

It was a very relaxing peaceful week in a nice condo with wonderful views, great swimming in pools and beaches and great food. Everyone we meet was friendly and helpful. We would definitely return and have already recommended it to others.

Thank you for opening up your condo to others.

Amazing wildlife but not for swimming

  • 4 of 5

This resort was perfect for us! Great pools, clean grounds, nice for kids for biking, lots of amenities,...The condo itself was decent, but sparse on the supplies (ie - no tongs, baking sheet, toaster oven, broken blender, etc.), but the owner seemed receptive to feedback and so these small issues may be fixed going forward. This was our first time to the area, so we weren't what to expect. Here's what we found out! Harbor Island is perfect for sea life. There were tide pools that we could crab in (big blue crabs and the kids LOVED it), lagoons to spot turtles and alligators, pelican point, hermit crabs everywhere, we saw dolphins most days, etc. Swimming was difficult though. At low tide, you simply couldn't swim. You would literally have to walk out through mushy mucky sand for about 1/4 to 1/2 mile before you'd reach water past your shins. At high tide you can swim, but it's murky so you can't see in the water and there are NO waves. Even our 5 and 7 year-olds were disappointed at how calm it was. We did go to Hunting Island twice during our 4 day stay because of this, and the swimming there was great for them! The beaches there are beautiful, FREE pier fishing, and a beach covered in fallen trees in one area. The bike paths there are amazing too and doable for our 5 and 7 year olds, running along the water, flat and shaded. So if you are looking to stay at a place where you can bike and ride on the beach, look for shells and wildlife, enjoy the pools and the quiet, but don't mind driving to Hunting when you want to swim in the ocean, then this place is perfect. But, if you want somewhere where you can walk from your door to the beach and swim and chill all day, you may want to look elsewhere. Good luck!

Perfect get away!

  • 5 of 5

My 6 year old granddaughter asked me to take her to the beach, while her sister was at camp. How could I refuse? They had just gone to a FL beach with the typical tourist thing going on. I'm not a fan of that environment since I grew up in south FL and was tired of all the people. I found this condo on VRBO.com and it sounded perfect. I emailed Kathy about the 'crowds' on the beach and was reassured there weren't any. We arrived at the condo and it was perfect for us. Very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed to stay for four days. The only thing I missed was a non-stick pan for scrambled cheese eggs. LOL! I'll donate one the next time I'm there. The bed was very comfy as well. Internet access was not that great but that's OK. We needed to stay off of it anyway. We were able to get onto Netflix on our iPad, so when we took breaks from the fun in the sun, my little sidekick could watch her shows. We LOVED the little screened in porch and had almost every meal out there. We only ate out twice, since she didn't want to leave the beach.. Picnics on the beach were a HUGE part of the day. Kathy has beach chairs in a closet so I didn't even have to take mine out of the trunk. The boardwalk to the beach was over a bog area where we got to see some turtles and birds. The boardwalk closest to the condo was closed but it wasn't far to the other one. Outside showers are convienent to wash the sand and salt water off before heading inside. The beach was great!!! During low tide, you could walk out and watch the crabs scurry around. Not many seashells though. High tide was great! We could walk out a LONG way without a drop off or deep water. The waves were not the normal ocean waves since it's inland. They were big enough for Brogan to play in and jump over which was fine with me. The beach was NEVER crowded!!! It was AWESOME!!! The pass to Hunter Island State Park was appreciated! What a fun place to visit. Make sure you stop at the Publix before getting on the island. There really isn't anywhere to pick up groceries while there. Kathy was a huge help during our decision making process. She described the area to a tee. We went to Dock Side Restaurant while we were there and it was FANTASTIC!!! Brogan isn't a fan of seafood, so she got the kids cheese pizza. OMG!!!! She said it was the best pizza she has ever had! It was SO GOOD!!!! I would highly recommend L101 to anyone!
