Why Heather Vestbirk chose Horncastle

We love this property because it is such a quiet location and it has the most amazing views of the Lincolnshire Wolds from every aspect. We farm the land around the property and the changing landscape through the seasons is always awe inspiring. There is a wealth of wildlife - birds and even a deer may cross the garden.

The Cottage has been awarded a Quality in Tourisim 4 star Gold Award and is recommended for cyclists, families and walkers

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It’s been really nicely renovated and lots of attention to detail to ensure a comfortable stay. The garden is lovely and we enjoyed a lot of time outside enjoying the views and playing with the garden games that are in the summer house.

Heather was very helpful before and during our stay.

Would highly recommend.

The Cottage is amazing and the views are stunning. An excellent place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our time at The Cottage. The facilities inside were of a fabulous standard, we stayed as a family of five adults with a young child and we all loved it. The views are something else, we will visit in the summer next time so we can sit out and enjoy them even more. There is so many lovely places to visit nearby and the places we ate at were great for all of us. Lincoln is a must! We would definitely recommend The Cottage, we will certainly be visiting again. We were all very sad to leave and will stay longer next time. Thank you to Heather for such a warm welcome and a brilliant place to stay.

Beautiful house. Beautiful views. Perfect for being snowed in!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a slightly impromptu extended week at The Cottage. The Beast from the East hit whilst we were staying and snowed us in. The house was so well appointed we were more than happy to stay in and get cosy in front of the log burner and learning how to play scrabble and cluedo again. The dogs loved the snow and was quite something trying to walk down the lane in the snowdrifts! Heather and her husband were great hosts and we really appreciate checking that everything was ok and also letting us stay for s couple of extra days until road conditions improved and we could finally get the cars out of the lane!! We would love to come back in the summer and make the most of the garden and views across the fields. Thank you so much.

Owner's Response: The 'beast from the East" certainly caused a few problems in Lincolnshire. Staying warm and cosy by the log burner and watching the landscape change to a whole new world adds another dimension to the Lincolnshire Wolds. Jane and her friends were delightful guests and we were more than happy to extend their stay until the weather conditions improved. As the Cottage is located on our farm we had the equipment to clear the roads once the wind moderated.

Car: recommended

Recently renovated our beautiful 150 year old cottage, with brand new fixtures and fittings, has unspoilt panoramic views of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The Cottage is rated as 4 star Gold by the Tourist Board. There is an abundance of outdoor space, a small orchard and a fenced front garden, a hammock and garden furniture. We can provide secure storage for bicycles and it is an ideal location for both families and ramblers. It is in within easy reach of the coast, the city of Lincoln and many places of interest. Tattershall Castle and the East Kirkby Aviation Heritage Centre are well worth a visit. Enjoy an outdoor swim at the popular Jubilee Park at Woodhall Spa. Rand Farm and Woodside Wildlife Centre are family favourites. Details of all these attractions can be found in The Cottage.

For those who enjoy walking in the Lincolnshire Wolds maps and detailed walks are provided.

Suggested cycle route leaflets are available but you may prefer to use the OS map and plan your own route.
