About the property

This North Norfolk cottage in Binham is 4 miles from the small coastal town of WELLS. It overlooks the village green with its ancient market cross and is a short walk from the village stores and village inn which serves home cooked meals. There are 2 double bedrooms and a single with an integral guest bed. The bathroom has both a bath and large shower. The downstairs cloakroom also has a shower cubicle. There is full central heating with heated towel rails. The living room has a log burner TV DVD player Wi-Fi and a selection of games. Kitchen has electric cooker dishwasher and microwave with table extending to 6 places. There is also a washer/drier and radio/CD player. Outside has lawned front garden and off road parking for 3 cars. There is an outside table & chairs set.

The wider area has the Royal Estate of Sandringham and the new home of the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge (not open to the public). There are many other stately homes and castle remains to explore and is ideal for walking, cycling and sailing. There are miles of expansive sandy beaches. Wild life parks and bird watching are popular in this region but there are also heritage steam railways and traditional seaside towns with piers and entertainment. The historic city of Norwich with its castle and cathedral and the iconic Norfolk Broads are less than an hour from the cottage. The elegant town of Holt with boutiques and cafes is 8 miles away.

About Chris & Jean Clarkson

My father bought this property in November 1959 after basic modernisation. It was updated over the intervening years but in 2010 had an extension built with new staircase additional bedroom upstairs bathroom and oil Central Heating. It has been used by our family, children and now grandchildren ever since to provide a very cosy retreat.

My first job as a practicing Veterinary Surgeon was in the nearby town of Holt. I met and married my wife in Norfolk. I sailed with a friend at Blakeney and Ovary Staith.

There are many quiet unspoilt locations where I have walked my dogs over the years and maps in the cottage will guide you to them

Peaceful and quiet in beautiful location

Binham is a beautiful historic village with an old priory, great walks, a pub, a dairy, a petrol station and superstore; full of local produce, all less than 5mins walk from this attractive well appointed cottage siting neatly off the village green.

The Double & Twin bedrooms are a good size & the beds are comfortable allowing us to relax and be well rested before exploring the village, countryside, beaches, gardens & houses.

The cottage is warm, clean & well decorated with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The bathrooms both have showers with fantastic water pressure & plenty of hot water. It has great WiFi connection as phone signal can be sketchy but be warned, this is an old cottage & thus some of the doorways are a little low!

We had fantastic weather & as a party of 5 & one dog we often sat out late in the garden, listening to the birds or staring at the stars as there is no light pollution. The villagers made us feel very welcome.

The local pub offers fantastic food for those who don’t want to cook with menus changing daily.

What could we say negatively about the property, not much: how about a better radio system- well with wifi & iPads we coped, a bench outside perhaps - well with garden furniture we adapted. No our biggest problem was that a week wasn’t long enough!

Would we stay here again- absolutely, it’s idyllic - Thank you

Binham Cottage

Really enjoyed our stay in this pretty well-equipped cottage set in a lovely village in the heart of north Norfolk. It had everything we required for a lovely week's holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed stopping in our little 'home from home'. It was such an experience awakening with wildlife around us and the sound of sweet birdsong. We picnicked on the front garden several times and strolled around the small village at all times of the day. It proved to be an ideal place for us to live, sleep and eat in-between our many trips out to all the beautiful local spots like Brancaster, Holkham, Holt, Wells-next-the-Sea etc. We shall be back... again! Thankyou to the owners Mr and Mrs Clarkson.

Comfortable well equipped home in a beautiful area

We found the house very comfortable and well equipped. One of the nicest holiday homes we have stayed in. The beds were very comfortable. The low beam upstairs caused a few bruises but we got used to it after a couple of days! The village has some lovely walks and we found the locals friendly. We especially liked the Abbey. Shop and good pub close by. Lots of beautiful places to explore nearby.

Would come again!

A delightful cottage, very roomy, immaculate condition, everything you would ever need is there, the village charming, very quiet, hear a pin drop, sky at night very black, no light pollution, everyone i met very friendly and helpful, handy having a small food store which sell's most thing's on your doorstep, and only ten minute's away from Well's next to Sea!

Only one negative i could come up with is only small garden to front of property and not secure for dog's or children, apart from that i loved it!
