About Nora and Simon Richards
We are Simon and Nora Richards and we live at Hanley House, the old farmhouse where we have brought up our two children. Life here has included looking after cattle, sheep, pigs, horses and poultry. We are both retired and enjoy country pursuits as well as relaxing and enjoying the banter in our local hostelry.

The property location made for a perfect get-away and everything about the cottage itself was first class. The welcome pack was gratefully received and the perfectly home-baked sponge cake despatched with enormous satisfaction.
Spotlessly clean, well equipped in every form made our stay idyllic and to round off the perfect day we slipped away for our night's sleep in the perfect bed.
Sitting outside with a glass of champagne in the early evening was heightened by the immediacy of the rolling countryside that embraced the seating area.
Thank you Nora and Simon
Wonderful countryside cottage
This was a short little break but was such a wonderful place to stay to escape the rat race. Surrounded by the sounds of the countryside it was pure heaven. Simon the host was very welcoming and helpful and Nora’s home made cake and little hamper was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend this property to people and would certainly stay here again.
Lovely place and wonderful hospitality.
This is an absolutely lovely property - carefully converted - and with hosts who put a lot of care into making one's stay enjoyable and memorable.
The place is very well equipped, sparkling clean and very comfortable. We certainly hope to stay there again.
Perfect place to stay
Cottage was situated in ideal location for visiting Shrewsbury and surrounding area. Very quiet location and cottage was spotlessly clean and stocked with everything you could possibly need. Hosts Simon and Nora were very welcoming and made us feel very at home.
Quality property and extra special hosts.
Superbly stocked kitchen which had all those things that you might have forgotten. The welcome pack was amazing !
Perfect in every way.
The cottage has absolutely everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The standards Norah has set is so high - it will make us critical of anywhere else! We arrived to a fabulous welcome - a table laid for tea and cake - with the delicious homemade cake provided. We also enjoyed a welcome pack of high quality produce for breakfast including freshly laid eggs, The cottage is immaculate, very comfortable and well equipped. We loved the suggestions for walks - many of which are only a very short drive away and absolutely beautiful. If you want to relax in beautiful surroundings this is the place to stay.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, it was lovely having you to stay and seeing your enjoyment of the countryside. Thank you for coming. Nora
There is good shopping, historic buildings and castle, a theatre and museum in Shrewsbury. It is within easy reach of the World Heritage site at Ironbridge and also Wroxeter Roman City and vineyard. There is lovely walking country locally and on the Long Mynd and Stiperstones. National cycle routes are on the doorstep. It is a good touring base for the Marches and Mid Wales. There are several National Trust properties locally - Attingham Hall and Park, Powys Castle, Sunnycroft. A bus service between Shrewsbury and Pulverbatch stops in the village.
