Lovely comfortable cottage,

  • 5 of 5

Really good cottage plenty of room, king size bed very comfortable, underfloor heating worked a treat. Pity about the snow on arrival but that melted away overnight, cool and dry for the rest of our stay. Many thanks to Lucy for her help when we got on to the drive up to the cottage no real problems as we had a 4x4 and the snow was not to deep

Owner's Response: Heehee! It was a winter wonderland when you arrived and I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you so much for your lovely parting gift...totally unnecessary but very sweet of you both. I am happy to hear everything worked well for you, in particular the heating and so glad to hear the bed was very comfortable. Thank you and happy christmas x

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We had a really super week in Spring Farm Cottage. We took our dog, who loved the wonderful walking available. Since there are sheep and horses in the fields around the cottage, we tethered her on a long rein in the garden and sat out with her to have our morning coffee when the weather was good enough. We also made the most of being able to walk through rolling, open countryside to scenic woodland straight from the doorstep without crossing a single road - a real treat. Our tween children loved the remote location and enjoyed exploring the area - our favourite days were walking on the moors, the open air swimming pool in Helmsley and going to beautiful York for the day - gorgeous city. Thank you Lucy, for giving us a comfy and cosy base, with gorgeous views to explore the Yorkshire moors.

Pretty little cottage inside and out

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for three nights. Two adults and two small dogs. The inside of the property is cosy and decorated with photos of the local area. It is clean and warm. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is small but functional (although I think the oven door needs looking at). It has a very homely feel.

Externally, there is a gated gravel drive up to the house and some grass directly in front of the property. There is also a small outside play area for young children. A few metres from the front of the property is a field with sheep and horses. Whilst there is a fence all the way round the field, it would be very easy for dogs to get in so we couldn’t let ours out to play since they do like to chase a flock of sheep!

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to meet Lucy, the owner, but she had left us some milk, bread and a chocolate cake, which was very much appreciated. The property is attached to the main house but, even as people who much prefer our privacy, we did not find this obtrusive at all; the cottage entrance is away from the main house entrance. We did meet the resident pooch, however, who stole a bone from one of our dogs! Haha!

If the garden had been secured (or we didn’t have dogs), we’d definitely book again.

Lovely Cottage, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Well equipped cosy cottage in nice surroundings. Very comfortable and clean. Lovely owner who kindly left a welcome pack - with cake! Would definately book again. Great Location for exploring. Helmsley is a lovely village and about 7 minutes car ride away. Lots of good pubs for eating out locally especially The White Swan at Ampleforth and The Feathers in Helmsley (better to book).
