About the property

Double bed holiday cottage with open plan living room with beautiful views

Postgate Nook is a one bedroomed holiday cottage within the beautiful, peaceful setting of Postgate Farm, set up by the owners to provide a luxurious, peaceful setting for a romantic break for couples. The Nook is full of character, featuring exposed beams, stonework and wood burning stove. Downstairs, the Nook has an open plan living room, kitchen and dining area with ample facilities for 2 persons. Upstairs there is a double bed, en-suite toilet and luxurious free standing bath area. Ample off-road parking is provided, and outside is a private sitting area with stunning views over Glaisdale Dale.

Note Postgate Nook may also be suitable for parents with one young infant (plenty of space to set up a travel cot either upstairs or downstairs).

NEW!! For Winter / Spring 2016/017 onwards. We have now added a wood burning stove (all fuel provided) for cosy nights in by the fire.

Postgate Farm is set in a beautiful, peaceful location in Glaisdale Dale with stunning views to the South over the Dale to the forests and moorlands beyond. The Dale itself is served by just one road which means very little traffic, yet is only a mile from the thriving village community of Glaisdale and all its amenities including the village pub, award winning butchers, post office and general store, tennis court and the Robinson Institute, home of the renowned Esk Valley Theatre Company. The village has a railway station and is served by local bus routes. Glaisdale is an ideal holiday location, with stunning walks and cycling available without even getting in your car. A little further afield are other parts of the North York Moors, with pretty villages such as Goathland, Grosmont, Egton, Lealholm, Rosedale Abbey and Egton Bridge just a few minutes drive or a healthy hike away, or by using the picturesque Esk Valley Railway, which runs from Whitby to Middlesborough, and also connects to the famous North York Moors Railway, complete with steam trains, connecting to Pickering. The local bus service connects to Whitby, and the other villages of the North York Moors. The towns of Pickering in the heart of the North York Moors, and Whitby on the coast are less then half an hours drive away and can also be accessed by rail as mentioned above. York and Scarborough lie approximately 50 minutes drive from Glaisdale. Whether you want to see the beauty of the North York Moors with its expansive moorlands and hidden valleys or the stunning Cleveland coastline, Glaisdale is an ideal base for your stay.

About Mark and Moya Hollingworth

Mark and Moya Hollingworth moved to the North York Moors from West Yorkshire with a view to semi-retirement in this beautiful area, having already successfully run holiday cottages in the area for many years. On purchasing Postgate Farm we started to convert some of the old farm buildings to provide luxury self catering accommodation on site. Living in the farm house next door means we can be on hand to help guests with their stay, but we aim to leave visitors to enjoy their own private space.

Mark and Moya Hollingworth purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Mark and Moya Hollingworth chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

We discovered the North York Moors while travelling to our former holiday cottage on the coast at Staithes. When the opportunity came along to move our family home we looked for a property in a rural area which would give us the opportunity to develop further holiday cottages which we could manage from our own home. We discovered Postgate Farm located in Glaisdale Dale just outside Glaisdale village. The Dale is a beautiful, peaceful setting around a mile from the village of Glaisdale, with a thriving community and various amenities such as village pub, award winning butchers, post office and general store, tennis court and the Robinson Institute, home of the renowned Esk Valley Theatre Company. The village has a railway station and is served by local bus routes. As well as now being our happy family home, we have now converted some of the former barns to provide luxury self-catering holiday accommodation.

What makes this cottage unique

Postgate Farm is set in a beautiful, peaceful location with stunning views to the South over Glaisdale Dale. The Dale itself is served by just one road which means very little traffic, yet is only a mile from the village of Glaisdale and all its amenities. Glaisdale is an ideal holiday location, with stunning walks and cycling avaiable without even getting in your car. A perfect long weekend

  • 5 of 5

When we reviewed the description of Mark and Moya's cottage on Owners Direct it sounded perfect - and it was! Everything about the cottage has been lovingly well thought out, from the complimentary bubbly and bath bombs, to the cosy log burning fire and blankets. The free standing bath in the bedroom was such a treat and the kitchen well stocked if you want to eat in instead of out. There are some lovely walks around the area, and the cottage is only 20 minutes or so from Whitby. All in all, we had a fantastic weekend (assisted with Mark and Moya's recommendations for places to eat and visit) and we can't wait to return next year! Emma and Liam

Just perfect everything & the views are stunning, it made us both feel very relaxed

  • 5 of 5

Dear Mark & Moyà, we both feel there is nothing to improve in your cottage we absolutely loved staying there, everything about it was just perfect and we would like to return again one day but maybe when the weather is better. There is only a couple of things that could improve is having an extractor fan above the hob as we set the fire alarms off when frying our steaks on Friday night lol and a splash back behind the hob too would be good, apart from that all was beautiful and thank you for letting us stay.

Hope to see you both again one day and don't go too hard on the plastering, Steve says give us a ring if you get stuck or find it a bit too much.

Thanks again

Karen & Steve

There is absolutely nothing to criticise with this property - only praise. The decoration is tasteful, the additions such as wine, coffee and bath bombs are thoughtful, the owners were lovely and the setting is breathtaking. It is the perfect couples' getaway.
