Glemsford offers a local pub and fish and chip shop, along with a Chinese takeaway. The village of Long Melford (made famous by the TV series Lovejoy) with its 2 stately homes, antique centres, pubs, independent shops and restaurants is only 3 miles away. A short drive will also take you to the famous town of Lavenham, known for its quirky buildings and winding cobbled streets. There is also plenty to do slightly further afield, including the market town of Bury St Edmunds with its abbey and gardens, twice weekly markets, host of shops and a cinema complex. Colchester is the oldest recorded town in the UK which provides plenty of history and culture to discover along with its zoo. Shop and pub ½ mile, restaurant 3 miles.
