I grew up in Paris, and started to come to Nice for holidays from 1979 ! i spent all summers with my parents there. I live in Paris. And try to travel as much as I can. Going back to Nice is always a special moment. The excitement also comes from the fact that they always build something new, and I can't wait to see !
Pierre purchased this Apartment in 1998
Why Pierre chose Old Town
My parents had a flat in ' Modern ' Nice, and when I was a teenager, I used to come every summer. As I grew older, I tended to come also at other times of the year. I remember the first February I spent in Nice, I was amazed by the mimosas and the bright blue sky. After my parents sold the flat, I couldn't do otherwise but have my own. I chose the old town because my mother used to send me there all the time, to buy fruits and vegetables ! All the organic stuff is there. And little by little I understood that the old town was meant for me, more than other parts of the city, whatever beautiful they are.
What makes this Apartment unique
When I bought my flat, I was looking in the old town.I visited many places, some much bigger than the one I finally purchased. But they were, for most of them, dark, and I didn't like that, and had no terrace. I realized that having a terrace was my dream. More important than extra square meters. Then I bought a lemon tree and a fig tree, and I couldn't have been happier. Over the years, the lemon tree is doing fine. The fig tree isn't so happy, it would need more space ! Well, all the same. I love to have them on the terrace, and also a rubber tree, my favorite one...
Smoking is allowed on the terrace
There will be a moderate additional fee in case of arrival after 8pm
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
A charming studio apartment close to shops, restaurants and the beach. We loved the coolness of the streets of Old Nice, and with an impressive choice of bars and restaurants had a very relaxed week.
Great accommodation with a beautiful terrace full of potted plants, nice kitchen with washing machine, overall very spacious.
Ceilings are low, so watch out. Currently the owner is asking people to track their electricity usage via meter, then leave cash. Why not just include in nightly fee??
Location is fantastic, close to beach, short walk to the port and Castle Hill. Shops and restaurants just out the door.
This place is what you’re looking for - Stay Here!!
Thank you very much for your comment. I'm happy that you enjoyed your stay in beautiful Nice. About electricity : I thought of including it but If I include it, then it wouldn't be possible to do it with meter reading. The idea is that people feel responsible and don't leave lights on during the whole day when they are not inside. Sometimes people do that, I think it is important to feel responsible. You pay for what you've used. And in France electricity is cheap.
Great studio in an amazing location
The studio is in the best location downtown , it’s quite easy to find and has everything very close by as in restaurants , coffee shop , food shopping , you can walk to the beach and just wonder around downtown, the host makes you feel very welcome and does give you the contact to arrange to get the keys and a overview of the apartment , great place for solo or a couple travelling , enjoy the patio sitting in the sun , I would highly recommend a stay here
Merci, Rodney, I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay in Nice. I hope you'll come again. Happy travels to you
nice apartment, perfect location
Very nice experiance. The apartment is nice and cozy with lovely view, the terrace is a big plus. I did not have any problems here. It was a bit hot inside:-) but hey, it was a very hot summer this year. The location is perfect. Everything you need is few steps from your door :-) I love Nizza and I am sure I will come back again. Thank you Pierre.
Hello Sonia, thank you very much for your visit. This summer has been incredible everywhere around, I think :) Luckily my flat has windows both, even three sides, so the air comes and goes :) Merci for your kind words for Nice, bella Nizza
A OK wouldn’t for one moment suggest it romantic especially in your seventies!
Not entirely happy with the cleanliness of the apartment & bed linen could be replaced
Should be warning about stairs & the street door lock - we were unable to obtain entry one evening & without the help of a kindly neighbour (who told us this has happened with other people on at least four occasions ) we might still be there
Matthew supposedly the key holder had no interest & suggested that he could not attend for at least three hours suggesting that a more reliable & local person should be nominated
On check out the guy Matthew did not turn up at agreed time despite confirming time on three occasions including text which he denied receiving- only to respond some hours after departure asking who we were & how he could help
In so saying the property owner Pierre was most helpful despite being some distance away
Would suggest some reorganisation would be of help
Dear Tony, we did our best to help you for the key. There was no problem about it, except that like for any key (especially in a foreign country) you have to get used to it the first day, and you actually did :-) Because there was no deposit to give you back, Matthew suggested that you leave the key of the apartment inside, so you were free to go at any convenient time. I change sheets often, but not every six months, I agree. Thank you for your visit, I appreciate that you gave 4 stars to your experience. And I hope to see you again. Please come again !
This is a lovely, cozy appartment, with a 5 star terrace, which enjoys sun from noon through the afternoon.. It is located on the edge of the Old Town, which allows easy access to the beautiful long park which leads to the ‘happening’ Place Massena.
The reason I could not give it 5 stars was the quite unreliable Wi-Fi coverage, There were 3 choices, with passwords given, but only one was a secure network, and it was on and off again throughout the day and evening. The others also responded in the same haphazard manner,. A secondary frustration was a shower which only worked holding by hand. There is an extra charge for electricity, computed by checkout person with little explanation of arrival at charges.
Although there were 39 stairs to manage up to the apartment, they only posed a problem the first time, with luggage. There was little noise from other apartments, although the street below often provided a gathering place for young men at all hours. All in all, though, the apartment was really like a second home.
Discover the life style in Old Nice-the famous flower market of Cours Saleya is within 3min walk from the apartment. Typical cafés, art galleries, a very warm atmosphere along the tiny streets of Old Nice. Remarkable architecture. A very lively historical center. It isn't like being in a film. Nice is many holidays in one. Just 5min walk, you’ve got the beach and the famous Promenade des Anglais; Cannes, Menton, Monaco and the Italian Riviera are just a boat, bus or train ride away, & when you’ve had enough of watching how the other half lives, you can take a bus or train to the magnificent mountains behind the town, with their perched villages rising miraculously from the rocks. Or you can simply stay put & explore the narrow streets of the Old Town itself, with their spice, patisserie & cheese shops, many of which have remained unchanged for generations; also the markets–fish, fruit-&-flowers (everyday, except Monday) and bric-a-brac. Not to mention the scores of cafes & restaurants.
Other Activities: Shopping in the Old Town !
