My name is Crystal. I live on a farm with my husband, Gerald and son, Clayton. I am slightly addicted to horses and love working with animals. I have stock dogs that help me with most everything I do on the farm. We have cattle, goats and a few chickens.
We bought this piece of property with a lovely home on it from the family of a man named Sam Murphy because it joined our farm and we thought it would be a good place to try the vacation rental business. It went so well that we have since built two more cabins on the same property. We love meeting new people and sharing some of the great experiences of country living with others.
Copperstone Cottage is such a romantic, sweet little cabin. If you need a place to get away for just the two of you, this little cottage is perfect.
Back for the 4th time - this time to celebrate our 46th anniversary!!!
From the back deck you have the feeling of being in the mountains, without having to drive a long way.
See you and Gerald at the Cellar Party at Peaceful Bend in November!
We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at Copperstone Cottage. The bullet hole in the bathroom window was there before we arrived.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Copperstone Cottage. Owners very helpful and friendly. Beautiful view sitting on the back porch in the evening and morning. Comfortable furnishings and well done decor. We can't wait to return for another getaway.
We wanted a place to get away to relax and Copperstone Cottage was wonderful. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. All you have to do is stock the kitchen with your food and everything else you need to prepare it is there. Grocery store is just a few minute's drive away. View from the back porch/balcony is beautiful. While there are other cabins at Murphys Place, they're strategically located so that once settled in, we felt like we were alone in the woods. Unfortunately, I had some work I needed to do and the Internet connection was very inconsistent. They were doing some things while we were there to improve access so that may no longer be a problem. This is the only reason we gave 4 stars - really more like 4.5. The hosts were very respectful of our privacy but easily available when we had questions. They were gracious and generous. We would definitely return - especially for a float trip in the summer next time!
We drove down from Wisconsin to explore the beauty of Southern Missouri. This cabin was such a treat. It is several miles from town or hiking trails but the isolated setting was so relaxing and comfortable. We stayed in the Copperstone Cottage, it sits up on a ridge looking down into the Meremac River valley. It was perfectly cozy and roomy enough for a couple. The cabin was equipped with everything we could need.
The property does have a Pavilion right down on the river which is a wonderful setting. Unfortunately, the weather(storms) kept the river and surrounding creeks too high for floating. But there are waterways everywhere and it would normally be a great place for floating.
We checked out a cave and hiked instead. We took the tour at Onondanga Cave which was wonderful and we hiked portions of the Ozark Trail and Taum Sauk Trails.
We stumbled on Murphey's Place by accident online, and thought it looked like a lovely place for a weekend getaway. We could not have been more pleased with our "stumble"! We stayed in the Copperstone Cottage, and it was perfect for 2 people. The unit was very clean, and comfortable. We also overpacked what we needed, as we found almost every cooking utinsel we needed at the cabin, including serving pieces. We absolutely loved the peace and quiet! There was only one other cabin in use the weekend we there, so it was extra quiet and private. We liked that the owners were accessible, yet very hands off. We were just able to relax and enjoy our stay. The view from the cabin was exceptional! We did not get a chance to take advantage of all of the amenities this trip, but we cannot wait to book another stay, and take in more of the trails, and perhaps a trip on the river.
Absolutely exceeded my expectations. The cottage didn't cost much more than a cabin rental at some of the resorts in the area, but we got so much more for our money. The unit was exceptionally clean, and, despite its rural setting, I didn't see a single bug inside the house. The unit had WiFi and satellite TV, central air, a fire place (too hot to use in the summertime, but I'd imagine it would be perfect for a winter getaway), Jacuzzi tub and stand alone shower, grill, fire pit and chiminea outside, porch swing and patio furniture, and a full service kitchen with an oven, microwave, stove top, dishwasher, large sink, and full size refrigerator with freezer. I was surprised to find everything I needed in the kitchen (we brought much more than we needed to) from wine glasses and champagne flutes, to paper towels and oven mitts, to an ice maker in the refrigerator, to little items like a vegetable peeler and a whisk. We made two meals while we stayed and found everything we could have possibly needed. The size was great for two people. The main attraction: quiet. Even though other units were booked at the same time we got to relax on the back porch, unaware that we had neighbors. It was peaceful enough to hear the river from our unit. They even provided binoculars. The view on the back porch is really gorgeous, overlooking the river and pasture. However, if one is inclined, their pavilion on the Meramec allows for plenty of social interaction. They have a bar area, grill, games, and plenty of seating down there. I recommend taking advantage of their kayaks or other options for floating down the river. They set us up for a 5.5 mile float down the Meramec and we had a great time. I really have to stress how accommodating the owners were for us. Crystal was so easy to work with (even when we were running late). You can tell they take pride in running this business, and they really do a great job. I would highly recommend this unit to everyone looking for a place to stay in this area.
