The beauty of having a small airplane is that you travel to anywhere in the United States that you like, and find some really interesting out-of-the-way places in the process. Several years back when a business trip brought me to the Nashville area, I got fogged in and could not leave so I decided to explore the Cumberland Plateau. The area grabbed my heart - and my checkbook. I purchased 2 plots of land and constructed 2 log cabins for me and all of you, my guests, to enjoy. I have tried to fill the cabins with everything you could possibly want for a getaway and I jokingly tell everyone ' ... just bring your toothbrush; everything else is there.'
While I enjoy puttering around the cabins, I also enjoy hiking the many State recreational parks in the area - Fall Creek Falla, Burgess and Rock Island. I particularly like the waterfalls at Rock Island where the water comes out through a crack in the rocks rather than over the top - and I have flown over the top so I know that there is no water there! But THE BEST waterfalls in your own back year. Please walk down the stairs with your morning coffee and enjoy the falls at Stone Creek. It is provate and all yours to enjoy.
My favorite things to do at Stone Creek'
1. Sit and watch the waterfalls on the lower deck
2. Sit on the rock and watch the day go by - especially during leaf season
3. Build a fire in the outdoor firepit and make s'mores
4. Walk the trails behind the cabin
5. Tell people that I am sorry but my cell phone does not work up there!
We had a fantastic weekend getaway at this secluded and well appointed cabin. The fire pit is great but you may want to bring a little firewood with you. The area around is fairly well picked of fall wood. However, if you look long enough you'll come up with a decent supply. The waterfall was dry but the deck amongst the trees was still amazing. The view from the cliff was grand and a fantastic place to spend and evening. Don't go traipsing around the woods in the dark, there are some pretty steep drops around, and a old barbed wire fence in the woods. It was a great experience and we will be back soon!
Great base camp for what we wanted to do. Falls Creek Falls 15 min, Cumberland Caverns 30 min and Jack Daniels Distillary 75 min. Cabin cozy and met our needs. View spectacular. Knew this time of year waterfall would be dry. Thanks to whom recommended the BBQ ribs at the Fire House Grill!!! We got a rack to go and had by the fire. Yum. From Wisconsin but would easily return.
It was awesome really enjoyed it
The only thing is directions on 111 south after you pass hiway 30 look for charcoal then turn left on the Denny road
Wife would like brighter lights in bathroom for putting on make up
Loved that everything was clean
Overall GOOD TIME, GREAT PLACE.
If you enjoy being alone with just your spouse or group, this is the place to stay.
If you don't mind not being near a city or love driving scenic roads this is the place to stay.
Here's a tip, stay off 111. Take alternate routes. Much better views.
Your outdated car GPS might not bring you to the right place, google maps will bring you in from a back road. Check directions given well.
Secluded, waterfall down the mountain, you stay on the top floor overlooking an amazing, lush area.
Property was very well maintained, the owner was extremely accommodating with some last minute changes we had.
On property there are all kind of fun games. Check the wooden chest. We didn't open it till the last day :(
We enjoyed our stay. Enjoy yours.
Enjoyed our stay at this wonderful cabin. The seclusion was so nice and the views spectacular! The cabin is centrally located to several waterfalls which we enjoyed. The beds are in need of replacement, they are noisy and way too soft. Just a few small suggestions like a few more chairs on deck and installation of a ceiling fan and exhaust fan for cooking inside would really help. But overall I would recommend this cabin and look forward to visiting again!
