ABOUT THE SAND AND THE EVER CHANGING BEACH: In the spring, the tide begins to carry sand in from the ocean and deposit it on the beach. The sand on the beach becomes deeper each week and by late summer can be several feet deep. During the winter, the process is reversed. The tide begins to carry the sand back out to the ocean. At times there can be no sand on the beach exposing the cobble (football sized rocks) that is ordinarily covered by sand. The cobble can be dificult to walk on.

Private Ocean Paradise on PCH in the 'Bu

I concur with many of the reviews regarding feeling welcomed and sublimely relaxed in the well appointed home of our great responsive host, Don. He's thought of everything. I only left once to go to the grocery store the entire week. Going to bed listening to the ocean is amazing for relaxation. And nothing like having morning tea with kayakers and dolphins passing. The house has binoculars. My favorite place to hang out at night was the patio deck & I hope I never forget the incredible moonlight nights spent on the patio listening to music. There was also great wifi for all. There are three TVs and some were watched. Ideal for relaxing, enjoying the sea life, dining al fresco and sunbathing. The house was cool during the day and cozy at night. The fire place was also working. But the best part is that at the bottom of your private staircase to the beach you can see Santa Monica Pier and the sunsets and when the tide is low you can join the locals and take a lovely walk to BiG Rock beach or sit on the sand right in front of the house. The house has beach chairs. The rocks can be treacherous depending on the tide, so you can walk on the beach or there is a public cement staircase at around 19958 PCH that also leads to the beach.A ton of tide pools and sea life, great for kids of all ages. The house is suitable for people with disabilities, babies. The beach access varies with the tide. The parking spot in the garage was great for our group of four. Spacious, yet safe for a solo traveler. It was nice being able to have easy parking for an additional car. We packed light and washed. Also enjoyed having the front door open while cooking (the house has everything you need in a kitchen in case someone wants to cook) and be safe from PCH traffic. For travelers that are looking to sight-see in Santa Monica, LA, Hollywood, Oxnard, Ventura, or the OC this a great relaxing alternative to staying in the urban parts of town.Great access from LAX, Burbank, and now the Gold line that connects the beach to DTLA The best local getaway minutes from L.A. a short drive on lovely HIghway One. If beach bumming is on your bucket list this place is for you. Highly recommend & I can't wait to do it again. Yay!

Unbelievable Vacation

"Walls of Glass" is an unbelievable place to stay for a family beach vacation. We were able to walk right into the house when we arrived by keying in the code that Don had programmed into the door locks. The house is beautiful with large windows and doors and panoramic views of the horizon and the waves crashing below. The housekeeper had the place spotless before we arrived. The house has a garage but it was so easy to just pull into the color coded parking place and then zip out later that we never used it. There is a full kitchen with a 12 cup programmable drip coffeemaker that works great. There are two clothes washers and two dryers in the garage. The beds are very comfortable. There are nice TVs in each bedroom and a huge TV in the den. There is a soundproofing wall between the house and Pacific Coast Highway. We tried to listen for traffic noise between the crashing of waves but couldn't hear any.

We were there last week in mid July when the "heat dome" was over the country but the house was always cool with ocean breezes blowing through. We spent a lot of time on the beach and frequently were the only ones out there. The beach is really pretty.

On Sunday morning after we arrived, we loaded up on fresh fruit and food from the Malibu Farmer's Market for the week. We had really good meals at the Reel Inn, Marmalade Cafe, Moonshadows, Duke's, Cafe Habana, Nobu, and Geoffrey's. We had pizza delivered from D'Amore's and ate on the balcony one night. The view was better than any oceanfront restaurant we tried during the week.

This is really a great place. We can't wait to go back.

Owner's Response: Joe, yours was a truly amazing review. You covered the usual things plus 4 that I don't recall ever being mentioned before. 1. The code entry keypad so you don't need a key. A lot of vacation rentals are starting to use code entry keypads now. I've had mine for 7 years. They make great sense. 2. Color coded parking. It works perfect. Everyone always knows exactly where to park and there's never a problem. 3. Two washers and two dryers. Not essential, but super convenient. 4. Sound proofing between PCH and the house (and no windows). You don't hear a sound from the street once you're inside the house. Thanks. This was the perfect Malibu get away for myself and my teenage kids! The house is beautiful and Don had thought of everything to make our stay easy, carefree and comfortable. Wonderful vacation home and I highly recommend!!
