Welcome to real Spain, a beautiful and stunning undiscovered part of Andalucia,our cave apartments are set in a peaceful location but not too far from anything you may need. Experience cave house living in our quality cave apartments in the heart of the Altiplano de Granada, Andalucia, Spain.

Both our apartments sleep four comfortably and offer a swimming pool and plenty of alfresco space.

Cuevas Geco enjoys open plan comfortable living both inside and out. This cave is the one to choose for the ultimate cave experience – with plenty of comfortable outside shaded space for summer alfresco dining and star-gazing. It is a complete cave apartment which has two large bedrooms, one of which is a double and the other a twin bedroom. A fully equipped kitchen including an oven/hob, fridge, microwave and toaster, and the added convenience of a washing machine. A comfortable living area with Television and Wi Fi complete the picture.

During those hot summer days and nights there is no need for air conditioning in a cave house, as cave houses stay at a constant temperature of 18ºC all year round.

About Viv and Ian Wickham

In our little family there is Viv, Olivia and me, Ian. We have always been extremely hard workers in whatever we have done over the years. Viv and I have both been retail managers for huge companies. We have also spent seven years running public houses & restaurants. So both of us are heavily committed to customer service, which we both bring to our new venture.

Why Viv and Ian Wickham chose Los Carriones

We had a dream… Ten years ago after watching a programme on Channel 4 called “No Going Back” we decided to attempt to buy a chalet in Switzerland and run it as a catered ski chalet. We as a family have been keen skiers for many years – in fact our daughter Olivia has been on skis since the age of 3. After several inspection visits and meeting with UBS in Sion, we made the decision that the figures just did not add up, so it was put to bed. Until nine years later when resurrection came through an internet search and away we went again!

It took about six months of internet searching and a couple of visits to find the the place where we are now in the “Altiplano de Baza” or Spanish lake district – a stunning and more contrasting a place you will never find with skiing an hour down the road at the Serra Nevada, the most Southerly ski resort in Europe.

The property was a run down partial cave house, which has now been totally reformed but keeping it’s rustic Spanish feel. If you like the outdoor life and the beauty that Andalucia has to offer, come and join us – you will be guaranteed a warm welcome…

Wonderful cave with a beautiful view

The cave was just as described; well-equipped, very clean and a delight to walk into. Everything worked, beds were comfortable and it was a real treat to sleep in a dark and silent place. Cave is easy to find and, very handily, a short walk for the local bar / restaurant. We could virtually guide ourselves back by the light of the stars. Welcoming and friendly hosts and we were particularly taken with the lovely Sparkle and Felix. We did leave them for others to enjoy, though. Would highly recommend as a place to stay. Thank you.

The beauty of the Altiplano de Granada is experienced through it’s landscapes and vistas, lakes and mountains, waterfalls and gorges, stunning scenery, hot summer sunshine mixed with cool refreshing breezes.

Traditional hill-top villages, which still offer free tapas with every drink, and of course the famous “Badlands” on your doorstep.

Walking and Cycling:-

There are a number of way-marked routes in the area, which cater for those just wanting a leisurely stroll through to experienced mountain walkers. The routes range from forest tracks, ancient drover’s trails and footpaths, to goat and animal trails.

For the cyclist, at one end of the scale you can take it easy on the flat, exploring the wonderful plateau of the Altiplano de Granada. At the other end of the scale you can take on the climbs and cols of the surrounding mountains.
