Devon get away
Perfect location and uninterrupted sea views over south Devon coast. Blessed with lovely sunny weather made this a perfect short stay venue
We booked the house for a family Xmas with our family coming from several countries to be with the extended family. The house was everything we hoped for and enabled 4 generations of the family to get together. All loved to watch the changing sea conditions and the grand kids loved looking out for the trains. Easy walk into Dawlish and to the beach. We took the train into both Newton Abbot and Exeter. A great time was had by all.
Beautiful place right on the sea
We loved staying here. The view is beautiful and the house is in great condition. Spacious and well equiped. Gym and spa are a real bonus. Friendly and helpful owners. Only addition wouod be curtains for the two kids rooms, considered essential by most parents! Brilliant week and we hope to return. Thanks
All room have now been fitted with curtains/blinds.
Lovely house in lovely location overlooking the sea
We had a lovely relaxing holiday at Tudor Lodge. The hot tub/pool was amazing, the adults could relax in the hot tub section whilst the children played in the pool section. Also, it was lovely to be able to sit in the garden overlooking the sea and watch the trains go by (the trains were low down, so train noise wasn’t a problem.
The only downside was that there were no curtains or curtain rails in either of the children’s bedrooms, so we had to put towels at the windows to block out the light.
Hello Christine, thank you for your review, all rooms have now been fitted with curtains/blinds
The property was absolutely stunning and set out so perfectly for a family getaway.
The property is set in such a beautiful way, right on the beach front for the most beautiful views of the sun rise and set. All the facilities were absolutely perfect from the gym to the spa pool the house was set out so lovely for a family very child friendly. The gym was very good had all equipment that would be needed for any active persons and a run along the beach front is absolutely refreshing in the mornings. The spa pool was amazing very clean and child friendly can be set to plenty of temperatures and spa settings for what you feel would be best for you and a very handy speaker system to connect to your music device. The kitchen was filled with everything that would be needed in any kitchen we made plenty of big family dinners and never had an issue. The property is very spacious with more than enough space for a large family. The local village is just 10 minuet walk away and the people are so friendly and helpfull in all of the stores. Our family had a fantastic time away at Tudor Lodge and would recommend it to anyone, it's an absoultly stunning property and everything that is needed for a fantastic getaway was there.
EXCELLENT HOUSE, LOCATION AND FACILITIES
We booked this house for myself & my wife due to the location and the facilities for a relaxing week away & recharge our batteries. Everything lived up to expectations. Eating breakfast outside on the patio, overlooking the sea, fantastic. The spa/pool/Jacuzzi was brilliant. A great way to chill out. We'd definitely book this property again with family or friends next time, or even on our own again.
Dawlish Beach is a stones throw away from Ocean Views. Ideal for escaping the hustle and bustle of the town! Take a boat trip around the bay and spot the dolphins or see if you can catch a mackerel for tea off the breakwater.
The railway line runs through Dawlish along the sea wall to Torquay and Paignton. With beautiful views over the many beaches it is well worth a ride. Old trains run at various times in the year.
Coryton Cove Beach is a short walk along the front from Dawlish beach. Formerly known as Gentleman's Cove, this beach is truly one of South Devon's secluded little treasures. Rock pools to explore, occasional sightings of dolphins, brightly coloured painted beach huts, coupled with a sandy beach makes Coryton Cove a perfect hide away.
Dawlish Warren offers even more fun and excitement for the whole family, from go-karting and mini-golf to a range of rides for the kids. If 18-holes are more your thing, check out the Warren golf-course, which combines beautiful, natural views of the estuary and Nature Reserve with some of the finest greens in the South West.
Birdwatchers flock to this area to visit the Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve, which is rated as the second most important reserve in Devon and plays host to a wide range of native and migrant species, including Shoveler, Plover and Snipe. The Warren is also home to numerous reptiles, small mammals and insects, and if you’re lucky you might catch sight of a dolphin or two.
Torquay is a short hop on the train/ car ride away, with its many shops and restaurants. The perfect place to come for a relaxing family holiday by the seaside, romantic escape for two or adrenaline-fuelled activity holiday, and there are plenty of things to do that will keep everyone happy! Whether you’re shopping for souvenirs to take home or keeping active with a walk on the South West Coastal Path, you’ll find activities for all ages on the English Riviera, South Devon’s Beautiful Bay.
The English Riviera is a very special area, and we have plenty of attractions that celebrate the uniqueness of our ancient landscape and coastline. Find out about the wildlife of this region with our Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust attractions at Berry Head and the Seashore Centre, or get up close and personal with the coast by trying your hand at coasteering, kayaking or diving. Sailors are well catered for with our expansive marina, while landlubbers can do their own exploring on a vintage bus tour or aboard a steam train. There are also numerous sightseeing boat trips and ferries crossing the bay.
Just a few miles from Torquay is the stunning village of Cockington. If you’re looking for ‘picturesque’ or ‘quintessential English village’ then this is it! Thatched cottages line the village green, while at Cockington Court Craft Centre you can watch some of the country’s finest craftsmen and women at work and then pick up a gorgeous gift to remember your visit by. This elegant stately home is surrounded by a stunning country park, while the village is warm and welcoming with some delicious, fresh-cooked meals available at the local pub!
No trip to Torquay is complete without a visit to on of our more unusual attractions - Kents Cavern. This is a spectacular subterranean labyrinth of caves which is one of the leading prehistoric caves in Europe. Kids will love meeting Cavog the Caveman, whilst everyone else will enjoy the slightly spooky atmosphere and entertaining guided tours. Why not treat yourself to a tempting Devon Cream Tea in the café afterwards?
After a busy day, head for the harbour and marina, where you can stroll around the shops which sell everything from seaside souvenirs to local pottery and gifts. Check out the coastal zoo at Living Coasts, treat the kids to a snack at one of the beachfront cafés, or sit down for a family dinner at one of Torquay’s stylish seafood restaurants selling fish fresh from the harbour – days out don’t come much better than this!
Paignton is a short hop on the train or a 30-minute drive from Dawlish. Paignton boasts its own steam railway to Kingswear and is well worth the trip. Admire the coastline from the carriages pulled by one of their beautiful steam trains. At Kingswear take a short hop over on the passenger ferry to Dartmouth and visit the quaint teashops or join the many people crabbing along the sea wall. Just a perfect day out.

“Wet, muddy and so much fun”
Reviewed 2 June 2015 via mobile
My friends and I absolutely loved the gladiator assault course. It was so much fun. We were drenched and covered in mud, and had the best time. So many laughs. I would definitely recommend this place and definitely come again. We all came away with arms and legs covered in bruises mind but that was all part of the fun and all worth it
