Our home is a beautiful oceanfront getaway located in an unspoiled Florida fishing village. We are located on the Gulf coast and enjoy both gorgeous sunsets and sunrises year round. We are within walking distance of the historic downtown and famous dock street restaurants and shops. If you are looking for a little relaxation in your next Gulf Coast vacation, you must discover Cedar Key, Florida. Our views of the Gulf are panoramic, our style is low-key, and we want you to kick back, get comfortable and most of all, have a great time!
The Thomas Guesthouse is a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath home. Our vaulted ceilings and wall to wall windows offer incredible views of Cedar Key's waterfront and nature preserves. If you are a nature lover, you will be mesmerized by the variety of birds and dolphins that feed in front of your private balcony. Throw open the wraparound windows and feel the sea air and breezes gently relax you as you watch a panoramic sunset filled with the most stunning imagery and colors. Enjoy sunrises with your morning coffee and the spectacular colors of the sunsets each evening.
Cedar Key is surrounded by the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge - a refuge famous for its extensive colonies of nesting birds. Depending on the season you visit, you will see Roseate Spoonbills, White Pelicans, Dowitchers, Willets, Skimmers, Oystercatchers, Frigate Birds, Wood Storks, and many LBBs (little brown shorebirds, from plovers to sandpipers). Always resident are: Great Blue Herons, Little Blue Herons, Tricolors, Great Egrets, Osprey, Bald Eagles, and many others.
Our home is fully furnished and equipped for your comfort and convenience. Besides the fully-equipped kitchen, living and dining areas, we also have a laundry area with washer and dryer. Upgrades in 2008 include new bedroom and dining furniture.
Cedar Key is perfect for couples or family vacations. Park your car and walk or use a golf cart to visit our restaurants, galleries, boat rentals, shops, and the town marina. Most dining and shopping options on Dock Street are two blocks from the Thomas Guesthouse. Bikes, scooters, and golf carts are also available if you would like to range a bit further. Cedar Key is part of Florida's Nature Coast--the wildlife is abundant. If you are looking to enjoy old Florida without the crowds, come to Cedar Key and relax on our balcony and watch the birds and boats go by. We promise you will not want to leave.
Golf carts are for rent at the Gulfside Motel just down the street.

We love the unspoiled Florida we have found in Cedar Key.
Relaxation, Relaxation, Relaxation...Margaritas and clam chowder
Perfect location and a block from everything. Will stay here again. Nice house, clean, spacious and great views. Enjoyed St Paddy's day in Cedar Key.
Wonderful location right on the water! Couldn't ask for a better view! House comfortably fit the six of us. The house had all we needed and was comfortable and clean. The owner is very accommodating. We had such a magical vacation--very relaxed! For people that are shorter in stature we suggest that you bring a foot stool (or someone tall). The cupboards with the glasses and some of the dishes are up very high. That is not at all a criticism, just a suggestion for future guests--which we hope to be again very soon!
the location is so beautiful and the house very nice. Mattress in Master suite could use an update but other than that everything is very up to date and comfortable.
This house is perfect for 4 or 6 people.. layout is perfect w each bedroom having its own bath and nice open layout with spectacular views and location.. 5 stars!
Some in our group rated the house a 4 due to some updates needed.. comfortable seating for 6 on the outside deck and in the living room, updated TV some TLC on peeling wallpaper, remove silk flowers, update bathrooms... but it's a beach house! So overall, I give this a 5 because the views and location are spectacular! It actually looked much better in person on the inside than I expected.. I was pleasantly surprised.
You can easily walk to all the happenings on Dock Street, Tony's for amazing clam chowder, and the Island Hotel. Make sure you check out Steamers, Bonish Studio (bar / antique / gift shop), Neptune Bar and the Restaurant in Island Hotel, Big Decks (fabulous Live Music), Lowkey Hideaway Tiki Bar (short drive).. and by all means, talk to people!! People are SO nice!! Cedar Key is the best!! Oh, and we saw a manatee from the house and great bird watching - bring binoculars if you like to bird watch.. plenty to see! Great people watching too as the house is on a common walking path and you get to see all kinds of doggies!
We didn't really need a golf cart, but rented one from Cedar Key Golf Karts and it worked great for checking out the whole island by the airport and park, etc.. 6 seater was $100 a day.
Cedar Key is a hidden gem.. one of my favorite places on Earth. This is the best house I've found for a group of 6 on the island.
I loved staying here. I needed some much needed rest and this house did that and more. Waking up almost everyday to the sunrise that could be seen from the master bedroom, to the beautiful sunsets seen from the porch. Everyday there was something different to see on the gulf including lots of dolphins fishing. One morning I heard several loons calling. It's so close to everything in the town and all within walking distance - which I did several times a day. The best part was sitting on the deck on warm days drinking coffee and just enjoying the water.
The home is lovely, well appointed and clean. Unfortunately our week was cold and rainy and we really missed all of the out door activities we’ve enjoyed in the past.
private airstrip, airplane rides, horse and buggy rides, beachfront park for kids
