Great location. Lackluster accommodations

Let me start out by saying that the owner all but called me a liar during our correspondence leading up to our rental. I asked him about adding a 4th person to our party, and later, the 4th party backed out, so it would remain a party of 3. I told the owner this and he said that we would most likely be bringing 10 people with us, and we’d have to pay a deposit until he was satisfied that we weren’t lying. I was indignant. The property was shoddy to say the least. The front curtain was a tattered felt sheet. There was no curtain on the 2nd floor. The internet never worked and we were told to use the wireless from the cafe next door. That internet kept disconnecting. The entire unit was far from well appointed. The beds were comfy enough, but the owner tried to put 3 men in two beds. We complained and he relented. The living room was nice enough though. I wouldn’t stay there with more than 5 people at all. The handle on the bathroom door came right off in our hands. The place had a washing machine and dryer, but the dryer didn’t work. The location was perfect. Lots of great food/drink/action at our fingertips. For the money we paid, we deserved a lot more, but if the price went down it would be a nice humble place to stay.

Pictures are deceiving

Firstly we booked this apartment as it was advertised as a smoking apartment first rule NO SMOKING....we were left waiting outside the property for nearly 2 hours when we eventually got hold of the owner he tried to tell us someone was at the property at the agreed time which they weren't then told us it would take 45 mins to get someone to us the girl that eventually came was lovely and really helpful not her fault requested compensation as this was hardly the start we wanted to our vacation request was totally ignored....suppose to sleep 12 which would be alright if you fancy sleeping rough only proper bed is in a room with no blinds or curtains under this bed is pallets which is another bed and 2 blow up beds in the wardrobe the other room which is classed as a bedroom pallets as walls has a sofa bed and pallets with a mattress on it had to buy pillows as these were shocking and dont try to shut the door made of pallets accident waiting to happen...the kitchen is suitable for boiling a kettle pity there was only 2 cups had to buy some to have a cuppa....wires hanging out of the bathroom light and others with no covers on them table and chairs at the window would have been great if it wasn't for the blanket covering the window letting no light in If all this doesn't put you off it is in a good location but after visiting Amsterdam for 25 years this has to be the worst accommodation ever Also note that you will have to wait nearly 2 weeks for your deposit back

Good Experience

I recently stayed in this Accommodation it is what it says.....check in was swift as I landed after 6pm & The Host was at the property waiting for our arrival. The property was clean & was good for what we needed it for, the only downfall is the upstairs bedroom has a blow up or mattress bed on the floor, spacious property but it’s designed for really 4 couples as it’s 2 double beds a double sofa & double mattress. Overall it was good & it’s in red light district so the shops & cafes are close by.

Perfect location

This property could do with a bit of work doing to it inside, for example the 2 black stools you see in the pictures are not safe to sit in anymore, I fell straight to the floor when I tried 😂? However it was clean enough, had beds to sleep in and had a shower so what more do you need, I wasn't there to sit in an apartment for 3 days!!! The location of this property was great... right on a canal, bulldog pub next door, the main red light street on the next row, shops, cafes, pubs, food right on your door step... and the door step is great for smoking and people watching!! My mum auntie and their friend stayed with me and they though the location was great too, I've never stayed so close to everything before and every other time I've been to Amsterdam I have come home with blisters on my feet.... not this time!!!

The guy who showed me to the apartment from the train station was really friendly and helpful and even let us keep a key and our bags there later than the check out time so we didn't have to lug our bags round on the last day. Would stay here again..... if I did it would be nice to see some new stools though!!!

Good location, thats about it.....

It is a great location if you want to be in the middle of the Red Light District. However, It's not a 3 bedroom. Its a one bedroom with a dining/living area separated by wooden pallets covered in newspaper making 2 small areas for 2 queen beds (of course not in the pictures). The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed, blow up mattress and mattress that slides under the bed. Not ideal.

The main reason I booked this property were the review comments that the owner would allow early check in. Well that didn't happen even though I asked .I understand there may have been someone staying there ahead of us, so it wouldn't of been available. That being said, the person to let us in was over an hour late and hard to get a hold of (he even commented that he worked nights and not to call him too early on check-in), also the apartment wasn't ready for us.

The most surprising thing was the CCTV camera they have in the living room. Was told not to do anything to the camera or I would loose my deposit. This is also posted on the list of things not to do. I have a rental myself and would never put a camera inside the residence. If I had known there was a camera, I would not of booked the property. They said it was for confirming that there were not too many people in the property.

For what we paid for additional people, I wouldn't stay there again or recommend it to anyone. This is our 5th trip there in the past 7 years and the first bad experience. Too bad, its a great location.......
