If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, this Rye Key house is the place for you. Located in Cedar Key, Rye Key is a small gated community of fewer than 15 houses. Our house offers the ultimate in quiet and privacy. It is located on a short street with only two other houses and on a lagoon shared with only one other house. Although every room has many windows, curtains seem unnecessary for privacy. This quiet privacy is only two miles from the historic commercial area of Cedar Key, easily reached by car, golf car or bicycle.
The light-filled, tile-floored house features two bedrooms separated by a great room. Each bedroom has a queen size bed, bathroom, sliding glass doors and a small covered porch. The great room has a living area with leather furniture, a dining area and a sun porch with a wall of floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water. The fully equipped kitchen is separated from the great room by a bar with stools.
There are porches on both the land and water sides of the great room. A private dock allows access to the water. Fish for red fish, kayak, canoe or simply sit and watch the tide change. The lagoon is home to many varieties of birds, including herons, egrets and osprey. Mullet jump, catfish and stingrays swim in the shallows, the big red fish feeds on the oyster bars and, occasionally, a dolphin visits.

We thoroughly enjoyed our days in your beautiful home in Cedar Key. It was exactly what we wanted – secluded, scenic, quiet and full of wildlife. We really enjoyed the sunsets on the dock!
Thank you for sharing and letting us rent your property.
Our family spent 3 nights here in late July and had a wonderful time. We've rented several homes there and this is one of the best.
It's very spacious, we had room to spread out and its quiet. It's not a new home and that's a plus, actually. There are balconies for anyone who wants one and the views are wonderful.
I had a great conversation over the phone with the owner and he made everything simple with no fuss. He's a pro and it shows.
Contact him and have a fine stay. CK is busy and hot as hell in July but go enjoy this house!.
It's was a great location loved the views and the house had everything we needed would definitely stay again. 😊
What a great vacation home! Thus was our best vacation ever in Florida! Cedar Key is Heaven on earth! I never knew such a place existed! This home was beautiful! Quite location in a nice neighborhood with just a few houses around. Glass front! All you see is water and wildlife! We will definitely go back!
My husband and I and our adult son and his dog just spent time at this lovely home. Unfortunately, our son and his dog had to go home after 1 night for business, but they enjoyed their brief stay. We loved watching the tide and all the birds. I have read so many of the books on the shelf, especially the Stephen King novels so the place felt so much like home. We ate at different seafood places each night (don't recommend Carlin's) and had a marvelous time. We took a 2 hour boat tour with Island Tours and learned many fascinating facts about the area. The beds were very comfortable and everything was just perfect. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place and we hope to come back another time.
Loved every minute of out stay! House was a great place with great views of the water and the private dock was perfect for fishing or just sitting. We saw every kind of bird, including a flamingo, had our own alligator to observe and watched racoons fish. The furniture was very comfortable as were the beds. Only issue was the water in the kitchen and second bath...it smelled and tasted terrible. In the master bath it was fine. Guess place either has two seperate systems, or filtration system was not working properly. Reported that and was assured it would be looked at. Only downside and it was not a biggy. We will return. Cedar Key is funky great, fishing is wonderful.
My husband and I had a quite romantic stay! We would sit in front of the window for hours enjoying the beautiful scenery and the birds.
We loved having our own personal pier that on high tides we would fish and canoe.
The only thing negative I can say is the appliance's really MUST be updated, I have not seen a stove or oven like that since the 70's or 80's.
But, all in all it was a wonderful trip and hope to return soon..
