The area was stunningly beautiful, but the cottage was somewhat disappointing, particularly considering it was not the cheapest of the many Owners Direct cottages we have stayed in over the years. It was rather basic and the overall impression was that it was tired and needed freshening up and a bit more thought. The bathroom had a drain smell most of the time. Only one tea towel in the kitchen for a whole week is not enough. And no towel in there either. The hob was verging on the dangerous to use there being no indication of which knob was for which burner. One knob swizzled round so freely you couldn't tell what setting it was on. Another knob was so stiff it took two hands to turn it at all; then when you did get them working, they got so hot, you had to use a cloth to touch them. The one frying pan supplied was so useless i had to buy a new one for our use. And the owner could at least have supplied some washing up liquid and dish washer tablets. Oh, and there were no instructions on how to use the microwave and we gave up trying to work it out.

It is such a shame because with a bit more thought and effort, this could have been a wonderful place to stay and a place we would have liked to return to. We will not be doing that, however, and will look for an alternative cottage when we return to North Wales next year.
