If you are looking to get away from city living and reconnect with the countryside, and looking for a Peak District hideaway, we offer luxury self catering holiday accommodation situated in the heart of the Peak District. Stunning scenery, renowned local landmarks and traditional English hospitality combine to create a relaxing, invigorating experience for visitors to the area. Since 2010, we’ve catered for people seeking holiday cottages in the Peak District, earning rave reviews for our charming and attractive holiday accommodation in the Peak District, at our apartment in the historic Litton Mill.
Litton Mill is situated on the bank of the River Wye close to many well known towns and villages. The nearby village of Litton has everything you may need to get the most out of your retreat, including a community shop and a 17th century pub (the Red Lion), still serving real ale and quality food today. There is a village green where you will also find ancient wooden stocks!
Based in the centre of this relaxing and engaging community, our luxury Peak District apartment at Litton Mill is kitted out with every comfort and you need to make it a home away from home during your stay in the Peak District. The mill itself was founded as far back as 1782 by a pair of prominent local entrepreneurs, Ellis Needham and Thomas Firth, and is steeped with the industrial history that is typical of the time. Despite being nearly destroyed by fire in 1874, the building was renovated and enlarged to its present state, and was converted in 2003 to luxury apartments.
We believe that our apartment is one of the premier holiday cottages in the Peak District. Furnished to a high standard, with en-suite facilities in each of the three bedrooms and a large, open plan living/dining area/kitchen, Number 6 Litton Mill is the perfect base from which to explore the Peak District’s many hidden treasures.
Visitors to the area can gain easy access to the renowned Monsal Trail, a 19th century train line that has since been converted into an 8.5 mile route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders that takes in the best of the Peak District’s iconic landscapes. More recently, a £2.5 million renovation has seen the Monsal Tunnels open to the public, and people of all ages can immerse themselves in the history and heritage of the area when they walk through the well-lit tunnels and passages.
Other must-see towns & villages within a short distance of our Peak District Holiday Cottage include:
Guests should not miss a visit to the nearby town of Tideswell, with its fine country inns and vibrant high street, which includes butchers, bakers, chemists, Fish & Chip shops and much more. One of the key attractions of the town is the “Cathedral of the Peak”, dedicated to St John the Baptist and completed way back in 1400.
