Ceret is small (8000 pop.) town with a well respected reputation for encouraging art and culture, with a great Saturday market and good festivals, especially throughout the summer. Ceret is about 30mins south of Perpignan, and very near to both Spain and the (also about 30 mins by car).
Our house is in the old part of the town. The narrow road outside is pedestrianized and we often sit outside and talk to passers by! Free car parking is within a 5 minute walk.
The house has:-
Gnd. floor well fitted kitchen and dining area with utility pantry. 1st floor dble bedroom and large bathroom (bath, shower over, WC, washbasin), 2nd floor dble bedroom, small 3rd bedroom with 2 single beds (suitable for kids), small shower room/WC/washbasin, 3rd floor light and airy lounge with TV, wood burning stove and basic cooking facilities (microwave, Baby Belling, small fridge), large velux ceiling windows and 3 sets French doors. There is a 47 step spiral staircase connects all 4 floors (easy gradient).
The kitchen is well equipped and contains oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer. The pantry contains a washing machine and tumble drier.
The dining room area contains the "Orange" broadband router giving good WiFi reception around the house, with the help of a "repeater" in one of the bedrooms.
TV reception in the sejour is via an internet signal through the elctrical wiring of the house giving 40+ French channels. The house landline will give you free calls to other landlines within the EU, North America, Australia, New Zealand and some other countries. Calls to mobiles anywhere, even within France, will be charged for by Orange, and we will have to pass this charge onto you by a deduction from your security deposit.
The house uses a variety of heating methods. All the main rooms have electric wall convector heaters. In addition, there is a butagas heater on the gound floor and a wood buring stove in the top floor sejour. There are also a couple of moveable halogen heaters. The hot water is heated electrically off-peak. There is no natural/town gas. In low and mid season (November - April) we charge for electricity and deduct this from the security deposit at the end of your stay. In high season (May - end of October) there is no charge for electricity. We usually try to leave at least one full Butagas cannister and enough firewood for 3-4 days.
Cleaning and laundry is included in you rental charge, although we would appreciate your leaving the house in a reasonably clean and tidy on departure state as the turn over time between guests is short.
