About this property

Luxury panoramic Villa with pool in the Florentine Hills

Villa Torre il Fico is arranged over two floors and covers a surface of 450 sqm.
Florence city centre is less than 12 miles away.
Beutifully appointed throughout, the villa can accommodate up to 6 people in 3 double bedrooms on the first floor, where you will also find a beautiful study/reading room.

Villa Torre il Fico sits in 10 hectares of private parkland with olive groves, flowering shrubs and landscaped gardens and enjoys uninterrupted panoramic views over the Tuscan hills.
All outdoor areas are furnished with elegant outdoor furniture.

The Villa dates back to the 11th century and was built as Guard Tower, hence the stunning panoramic position. It was bought by current family in 1988 and turned into the comfortable most elegant family home it is today.
It is surrounded by olive groves, lemon trees and beautiful gardens created by famous Italian landscape gardener Pietro Porcinai.
The interior has been sympathetically renovated by current owner, a skilled interior designer, who mixed antique original pieces with modern designs (and comforts) while fully preserving the original character of the house.
The result is a sophisticated, warm and welcoming home, true to its heritage.

On ground floor you’ll find an elegant sun lit living room/drawing room with fireplace, a formal dining room also with fireplace and a breakfast room. The living room features large glass doors leading to a truly stunning terrace with unbelievable views (ideal for sipping cocktails while enjoying the beautiful sunset).
A fully equipped kitchen, a utility room and a service bathroom complete the ground floor.
On first floor there are 3 bright elegant double bedrooms, all air conditioned and complemented by 3 full bathrooms private bathrooms. The master bedroom has a large en-suite bathroom with double basins and Jacuzzi bath tub with hand held shower. The Laura Ashley bedroom has a detached private bathroom with a lovely trump l'oueil decor and bath tub with hand shower, the Horses bedroom has a detached private bathroom with walk-in shower..
The bedrooms are all individually styled and furnished with very comfortable beds. The bathrooms are finished in marble.
On first floor there is a further lovely reading room or study.
All luxury linen is of the highest quality and all owned by us – we wash and iron everything ourselves, in house, and this makes a big difference!

Breathtaking uninterrupted views of the Tuscan countryside can be enjoyed from every room of the house.

Every room is individually decorated to extremely high standard: original Biedermeier pieces of furniture, rare empire paintings, magnificent mirrors, handmade linen curtains, large comfy white sofas create a bright sophisticated atmosphere throughout.

A magnificent stone built gothic arch dating back to the year 1300 create movement and defines the different living areas. Sand stone floors, walls finished with Venetian plaster in pastel hues ooze Italian craftsmanship and complete the truly unique decorating scheme.

The outdoor area is just as beautiful as the interior. Villa Torre il Fico sits in 10 hectares of private parkland with olive groves, flowering shrubs and landscaped gardens and enjoys incredible views over the Tuscan hills.

The Villa has a private salt water swimming pool measuring 14 m x 8 m, open May to September (inclusive) and 300 olive trees giving us some lovely oil - we love harvesting time!

All outdoor areas are furnished with elegant outdoor furniture (comfortable loungers with white cushions and white umbrellas are in the pool area, BBQ and dining tables and chairs are on the terrace and patio).

The villa is equipped with everything needed for a comfortable enjoyable stay: central heating, air conditioning, satellite TV, DVD player, iPod dock, wi- fi internet access and a fully equipped kitchen with hob, oven, log burning stove, American fridge/freezer, ice maker, coffee machine, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and an abundance of crockery and pans. Hair dryers are provided in every bathroom. Secure car parking is of course available on-site.

A bottle of good local wine, fresh seasonal fruit baskets and fresh flowers will be welcoming you upon arrival.

The rental rate includes full exclusive use of the villa and its grounds, gardens and pool, cleaning fee as charged, water and gas for cooking, wi-fi, gardener and pool attendant, linen (changed weekly for bookings of 14 nights or longer), courtesy sets. Heating is excluded and electricity is included up to 300 kWh/week.
Baby bed and/or high chair are provided at no extra cost: let us know if you need one!
If requested: extra maid/housekeeping service, laundry, extra linen change can all be arranged, as well as cook service for lunch/dinner, driver, fridge and wine pre-stocking service, etc, all at very reasonable rates – all you have to do is ask.

AWEFUL RENTAL, DECEITFUL OWNER – OWNER INVADES RENTAL SPACE CONSTANTLY
This VRBO was such a disappointment! The owner, Anna is very deceitful, she lied on the VRBO ad. Anna the owner, stays at the house the ENTIRE time, on the ground level in her “office” and lurks around, morning afternoon and in the evening; intruding on our space and enjoyment of the rental. This property should not be allowed on the VRBO platform, as you DO NOT get the entire property to yourself which is why we booked through VRBO as we WOULD NEVER rent a property that an owner would be around invading the space and intruding on our enjoyment of the rental property. Anna stated she needed to be there to manage the workers, once we arrived. The maid and the grounds keeper. Anna does not even do that well! Very poor management on the owner.Anna was very deceitful, firstly the picture she posts on VRBO is about 50 years ago. So you have this elderly woman lurking around and listening to our conversations. Anna herself was always in the outdoor space, so there was no enjoying the rental as you never knew where she was going to be. Anna the owner, came into the rental space EVERYDAY UNINVITED. I do not have the time or desire to get into the details of the every daily intrusions, but suffice to say UNACCEPTABLE AND NOT WHAT WE AGREED TO ON THE VRBO SITE! On the VRBO site, there was NO mention that anyone would be staying at the same location. Very POOR business dealings with this "VRBO host"!

I am Anna Stoylowitz, raised in Germany.
My profession Interior and Garden Designer and i live in Italy since 1980.
My family and me would never choose a different place to live that was not Florence, Tuscany.

Why they chose this property

When we saw the Villa Torre il Fico for the first time

Surrounded by history – the ancient watch tower, from which the antique family viewed their land with a breath taking look over the Tuscan rolling Hills, Cypress and Oak trees old churches, let us feel enchanted.

Romanticism aside, it took 5 years of renovation work before it was completed to the state in which we see it today.

We worked very hard to renovate the property: with joy and tears but the building site really grounded me, brought me in tune with myself, made my happy.
Villa Torre il Fico was restored for my family and private use and only later in the years we decided to share it with our clients.
I wanted rooms that surprised our guests.: a comfortable living room with all the amenities.

We wanted to find materials that are centuries old and put them to use again here and also mix it with modern and comfortable elements.
There are no mass-produced, built-in wardrobes, but rather they are all hand-made, one-off pieces created by carpenters.
I have always loved the Baidermaier Empire era which inspired me to make my choices to decorate our Villa.

Every room is individually decorated to extremely high standard: original Biedermaier pieces of furniture, rare empire paintings, magnificent mirrors, handmade linen curtains, large comfy white sofas create a bright sophisticated atmosphere throughout.
A magnificent stone built gothic arch dating back to the year 1100 create movement and defines the different living areas. Sand stone floors, two lovely antique fireplaces and walls finished with Venetian plaster in pastel hues ooze italian craftsmanship and complete the truly unique decorating scheme.
The bedrooms are all individually styled and furnished with very comfortable beds. The bathrooms are finished in marble from Portugal and a Jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower are in the master bathroom.

The outdoor area is just as beautiful as the interior, created by the famous Architect Pietro Porcinai.

What makes this property unique

Villa Torre il Fico is a most secluded rural retreat in the heart of the Florentine hills, yet is only 15 km away (less than 20 min drive) from the Renaissance jewels and buzz of Florence and is the perfect base to explore the Chianti region and to experience the best that Tuscany has to offer. Groceries and the first cappuccino of the day are available in San Donato, just 1 mile away and Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra are all within easy reach. Lovely country villages, antique churches and wine farms are scattered all around, waiting to be discovered. Fine eating, golfing and horse riding are available nearby and the area is a paradise for cyclists and ramblers! Alternatively, you can just relax, sip a Prosecco in the garden, enjoy a swim, or sit with a book and a glass of Chianti in front of the fireplace and soak the peaceful atmosphere in!
And if your own private pool is not enough Villa Napoleone is only about 100 km (62 miles) from the coast: the beaches, shops and night life of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are about 1.3 hrs drive away (don’t forget to visit Pisa and Lucca en route!) Fashionistas will no doubt appreciate the bargains to be had at The Mall, the famous outlet shopping village located in Leccio, less than 15 min away. And Anna will always be on hand to help with advice and organization of wine tasting tours, cultural tours and lots more!
