Great property in an excellent location
We have just come back from an amazing week at this property. We were a family of 8 (6 adults and 2 children aged 7 & 9). The house was plenty big enough and we never felt like we were on top of each other. The best part is the huge garden! We played badminton, boules and had quite a few barbecues in it. There is so much to do in the area. We visited the D Day beaches, Mont St Michel and many of the local villages. We also went canoeing on the river Orne at Thruy Harcourt. The communication with the owner was excellent and the property had many home comforts like hairdryer, washing machine, DVD player and english TV channels. I would recommend this property to any families who are looking for both sightseeing and relaxation holidays and hope to return there soon ourselves.
Thank you for such a vote of confidence. It is always rewarding to find people who appreciate and fall in love with the house and area as we did when we first arrived here. There is, as you rightly say, so much to do in the Calvados area. Whether walking, biking, hang-gliding, canoeing, tennis etc, sightseeing with Bayeux about 30 minutes away and the Swiss Normand on your doorstep.

Stunning property in idyllic surroundings
My wife, our three children and I enjoyed a terrific stay at this magnificent house. Nestled near a small town, South West of Caen in Normandy, the house offers a very spacious accommodation, well appointed and very well stocked with everything you could need. The main bedrooms are very big, one with ensuite. I loved waking up in the early morning, just as the sun was rising and flinging the windows wide open to catch the first cool breezes of the day on an otherwise hot week, and leaning out over the wide window sills to catch the fresh air. The house felt like home instantly and for all of our stay continued to exude a homely, friendly atmosphere.
The garden is very large and was great for the kids to play in (including a very made-up version of boule with the set we found in the hallway). We have a 13 year old daughter, 11 year old son and a 9 year old daughter. They loved the garden and could play while my wife and I enjoyed sitting around the family-sized table on the large patio. We ate our meals at this outside table every day. The stairs up to the top bedrooms are steep but didn't cause any issue with our eldest two kids. The attic rooms were also hot, but again our kids didn't seem to mind. You could use the supplied aircon unit (which we didn't) but we found keeping all the curtains pulled during the day kept the place reasonably cool (it was a particularly hot week).
The house proved to be a great base from which to explore the Normandy beaches, Caen, Bayeux and the surrounding area but we loved the house so much that it was also great just chilling and mucking around in the house and garden, sometimes playing with the board games and cards provided. Our first night was on Bastille day's eve and although we arrived rather late in the evening, the pretty local town of Aunay-sur-Odon was open and the streets were filled with locals celebrating this historical town and a wonderful fireworks show played out as we had our evening meal. The town is just a short drive away.
We were 100% delighted and very comfortable in a well maintained and well stocked home. I'm a partner in one of Ireland's longest running online holiday home businesses and tend to be hyper-critical of the places I stay. Not in this case though. If you're a small family looking for the ideal place to stay in Normandy, look no further. I'm also giving Tom, our friendly host an open invite for a pint if he's ever over this neck of the woods :-)

Dear Mike & Ona.
What can I say. Thank you for such a wonderful review, made much more potent by the fact you are yourself in the business. I full intend taking up your offer when we next find ourselves in Dublin. It will even be worth a special trip!
The Perfect Normandy Holiday
We had a wonderful stay at La Source. Although it could have been easier to find.
There was plenty of room, the weather was marvellous and there was the wonderful garden for the visiting children to play in.
We had barbeques, lunches, suppers and teas. It was really perfect for us, the best house we've ever rented.
A revisit is definitely required by all.
Thank you for such a vote of confidence. With regards to finding the house in the village we will update our instructions to include all the ways in and out of the village. We look forward to welcoming you all again.
House in a good location for sightseeing
We had a lovely stay in Normandy over Easter. This house is well located for seeing all the sights and definitely good if you want to get away and be in the middle of nowhere. The garden is a good size and gets lots of sun. The house is quite tired inside décor wize but is well equipped and there was a good stock of firewood. As the overview states the shower room is on the ground floor (next to the kitchen) which is not an ideal location. This means that we all ended up using the one family bathroom. The double rooms on the 1st floor were great but the attic rooms were a bit dusty and had a few cobwebs in when we arrived. If you stay here I would definitely recommend asking the owner to make sure someone comes in and airs the house - we had to air the whole place over the first couple of days as it was quite musty as I don't think anyone had been in for a while - especially a problem in the attic. The garden was overgrown when we arrived but the owner rectified this and the lawn was cut a couple of days later.
The lawn was cut on Monday 3rd April, they arrived on Saturday the 8th afternoon. the lawn was cut again as usual on Monday10th
Yes the downstairs shower- room does lead off the kitchen, this is perfectly normal in French houses.
As we supply bed linen our housekeeper was there making up the beds on the Thursday and she confirmed that she always opens all the windows to air the place.
We like to keep the place well equipped a real home from home.
Beautiful property situated in a lovely peaceful location
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house itself is beautiful, and situated in a peaceful rural location. A very well equipped house with all the facilities you need. Ideal for families. Within short driving distance of a number of towns e.g. Aunay-sur-Odon, Villiers Bocage, Thury Harcourt. Ideal as a touring base for the Normandy region. E,g, the D-Day beaches, Honfleur, Bayeaux, Caen are all within easy driving distance via motorway. Highly recommended.

Thank you very much for your review, I'm so glad you enjoyed the house as much as we do. We like constantly improving it and look forward to re welcoming you in the future.
