Chalet Vetera is situated close to Verbier town centre, right on the Southern edge of Verbier’s sunny plateau. It is within easy walking distance of all of the amenities of the resort centre. The apartment is extremely peaceful, benefiting from quiet surroundings – no traffic noise or late night revellers. All you can hear in summer is the sound of cowbells. Yet it is only 250 meters from the lively night-life of the Farm Club and just 200m from the main street with its free and frequent bus service to Medran. The first level comprises: open plan living room and dining area, with open fireplace, cable TV, DVD, mini stereo system and WiFi. There is a compact, fully equipped kitchen overlooking the dining area. There are also 2 twin bedrooms, a bathroom and a WC on this level. Wooden stairs lead up to the second level. The second level comprises an ensuite double, with shower, a double with balcony and view south, a single room with a sofa bed.

About Melissa Seppings

We are an Anglo-Swiss family who have been skiing in Verbier since the early 1980s, we love the fact Verbier is so easy to get to from Geneva as we are now based in the UK. I have two grown up daughters who both bring their young families here - all my grandchildren have learned to ski here in Verbier.

Why Melissa Seppings chose Verbier

We first skied in Verbier 30 years ago and bought the chalet 20 years ago.

We fell in love with it's light airy feel and the incredible and uninterrupted views of the mountains from the big windows and balconies. We also like the peace and tranquility. It is ideal for two families with children or large groups. It is very quiet and you are never disturbed by any party noise. There are enough blue runs for beginners and lots of challenging black runs, it suits every level of skiing ability and everyone can meet for lunch having skied in different areas.

What makes this chalet unique

The apartment is spacious, very peaceful and you can enjoy the lovely views of the mountains - we love the sunrise and sunset. The skies are really clear from the balcony and the stars are really bright. The supermarket (Migros) is really close by, which is handy if you run out of anything and unlike many chalets in Verbier, you don’t need a car.

The apartment is really quiet and not overlooked by anyone.

The balconies are fantastic for sunbathing in winter or summer.

Exceptional well equipped central maisonette

Lovely well equipped aptmt on 2 floors with ample living space, 4 loos, 2 bathrooms and a shower room en suite. Easy walk to local bus stop, ( just 2 stops from Medrane) and supermarket close by. Very well presented and clean and highly recommended for larger families or groups. Fabulous views and covered parking.

A really light, airy appart with good size rooms

It was well equipped and comfortable, with STUNNING views, in a very quiet part of Verbier but very convenient for the supermarket, just 2 mins walk, and 4 mins walk to the resort bus up to Medran (starting point for lifts) Room sizes are generous compared to other apartments we've stayed in, the kitchen was a galley kitchen but well equipped and we cooked for 8 pers with no problem every night.

Special interest holidays:

If you are interested in mountain flowers or botany, you will be inspired. After the snow melts, the alpine meadows spring to life. You might be interested in painting, and would certainly have lots of inspiration for this.

If music is your interest, visit in summer for the renowned Verbier Festival (classical music)

Mountain lakes

You can find many mountain lakes in Verbier, some are a short hike away others several hours, temperatures are icy but you can swim in them.

(remove all the rest about lake Geneva etc)


Geneva Airport 160km.

From there you can either hire a car or take a train. The trip is mostly motorway and takes 1.5hrs. You won't need a car once in resort, as the buses are free, and you won't be able to park anywhere except in the chalet- one car space.

Geneva Airport train station is next to the airport & the train is efficient 2.5hrs.

We suggest you buy Swiss Transfer Tickets in the UK to save cost and time.

Change Trains in Martigny, and take the Post Bus, ski lift or taxi from Le Chable 8km.


Martigny has some interesting museums- art, classic cars and St Bernard dogs.

It is 30 minutes away.

Montreux is a pretty lakeside town about 45 minutes away and has an annual Jazz festival as well as Wine making festival.

Lausanne is a thriving City with great shopping and lots of culture as well as scenic walks along Lake Geneva- about an hour away.

Further Details:

Migros and Pam's discount stores are the closest supermarkets in the shopping centre near the chalet. Migros is the Swiss equivalent of Sainsbury’s but is a Quaker organisation so doesn't stock alcohol- go to Pam's for that.

Macbirch Wine is a great specialist wine shop near the Farm night club.

There are many sports and clothes shops in the village and banks etc. in the centre. Also lovely cake shops and bakeries.

There are many restaurants to choose from. Pizza and crepes for a quick bite, or for something special try Le Vieux Verbier or Le Sonalon. There are typical swiss restaurants like Le Caveau and L'Ecurie, or trendy ones like Le Fer a Cheval.

Children love the Milk Bar and the ice creams and milkshakes.

The butcher in town cooks roast chickens to order and you can get the meat for a meat fondue from them too.

Up on the mountains, there are delightful restaurants to please every palate and wallet. James Blunt’s new mountain restaurant La Vache is extremely popular and serves simple food at economical prices. Chez Dany is a much loved place for a long lazy lunch, as are Le Rouge and Le Vieux Verbier.

If you want adventure, go up to Marmottes at night by skidoo and sledge down the mountain in the moonlight.

The Apres-Ski in Verbier is about the most lively and varied in Europe, with The Farm Club, le Casbah and Le Farinet Lounge. The partying sometimes kicks off early with dancing on the tables at 4pm!

The sports centre has a pool and ice rink and other sports on offer.

For the summer, the sports centre has several tennis courts and a wonderful indoor pool as well as a large outdoor pool with large grassy sunbathing area, ideal for young children and teenagers alike. Every Sunday there is a market in the main street, selling Swiss crafts, fresh food and wine.

You can hike for miles in the mountains, or hire bikes or cross country scooters. There is also a high ropes course and plenty of rock climbing.
