The Chalet sits on the breathtaking St Lawrence River seaway, which runs from the Atlantic Ocean to the many great lakes. From the Chalet you can see boaters, sailors, huge lakers and freighters, crusing ships and big yachts from all over the world as well as the Boldt Castle nearby also built by George Boldt (who managed the NYC Waldorf Hotel). Just a short walk from the Chalet you can take a lovely tour of Mr Boldts Yacht house and from there hop on a small passenger boat that will take you for a tour of the magnificent castle. You may be lucky enough to witness a wedding being held in one of the beautiful gardens.
The history of Wellesley Island is remarkable and the original membership fee to the beautiful golf club was of $100,000 back in early 1900's when the Chalet was built. Just a short walk away you will find the beautiful golf course , hiking trails and a tennis court. Two other golf courses and a state park with a museum and butterfly garden are just a short drive away. There are also several popular wineries giving tours and festivals with entertainment and farmer markets which are a big attraction as well the Castle and river tours.
This exquisite location allows you to boat, swim, fish, golf, dine and even bike right out your front door. There are two Historic Castles with tours along with Antique boats, freighters and yachts cruising by from around the world. You can also visit the Thousand Island park at the opposite end of Wellesley Island, where you'll find some beautiful historical homes and fine dining at the Wellesley Hotel. The guzzle at TI Park is really popular with the children and the families for burgers, ice cream and playing games.

You can have the pleasure of dining at BonnieCastle with gorgeous views of the Boldt Castle and the St Lawrence seaway. Fabulous Uncle Sam's Boat tours are in the town of Alexandria Bay nearby, also there's lovely shopping and dining in the colorful and quaint village of Clayton, New York. In the village of Clayton, a short drive off the island visit the famous Antique Boat Museum. Watertown, at a short 25 minutes drive away has a lovely shopping mall and a movie theater as well as lots of other shopping. Bring your passports because Canada is right next door, with lots of shopping, dining, theaters and a Casino.
You can also enjoy of diving, kayaking, sailing, tubing, jet skiing and swimming in the crystal clear cold waters and look at the occasional crew ships. In early morning step out the front porch with your cup of coffee and observe the beautiful sunrise. If you're lucky you might even get to see a rainbow over the river from your front porch. In the evening have a cocktail and barbecue in the back porch and observe the spectacular Canadian sunset.
Fishing is very popular on the river and there's walleye, perch, small and largemouth bass, Northern Pike and Muskie in abundance.
