Sleeps 4. A fantastic first floor apartment in a secure electronic gated complex with secure parking on-site. There is a lift to the first floor. The apartment is situated in a block to the rear of the complex with a balcony giving you magnificent views across to the mountains. It has been recently refurbished and is in immaculate condition being fully furnished and fitted to a high standard. The property benefits from air con/heating in all rooms and has Satellite TV with a comprehensive package of TV/radio channels including BBC, ITV, Sports & Movies and various children's channels. Shops and restaurants are a 5 min walk away and the award winning beaches of the Mar Menor are a 10 min walk. The apartment is a short 10 minute car journey from the airport of San Javier and we offer pick up and return to airport service.

Local attractions: Just a five minute walk away there are bars and restaurants offering a good selection of local tapas and traditional Spanish food as well as , Chinese, Thai, English, Indian and many more. There is a variety of local shops including a large supermarket (Mercadona) a hairdressers, newsagents etc .

A ten minute stroll will take you to the beach which is situated on the shores of the Mar Menor which translates as “Little Sea” .This is actually a large salt water lagoon separated from the Mediterranean Sea by the stretch of land that is La Manga. The salty waters of the Mar Menor are renowned for being rich in minerals and are claimed to be beneficial to various health conditions. The shallow calm water also makes it perfect for toddlers and small children.

There is a promenade running alongside the beach for several miles which is used by people either riding bicycles or walking and enjoying the magnificent views.There are beach bars and restaurants along the length with toilet facilities and lifeguards.

Further afield: Calblanque is a national park is a short drive, with its unspoilt secluded beaches and coastal walks. The beaches are absolutely superb here. A 20 minute drive will take you to the Mediterranean resort of Mil Palmeras which is definitely one of the best beaches along the Oriheula Costa coastline with good clean sand and the wide waters of the Mediterranean. There is a fantastic beach restaurant, great food and wonderful atmosphere.

Cabo de Palos is within easy driving distance 15/20 mins, a sleepy fishing village by day and one of Europe's best known diving areas then as the evening falls it becomes a mecca for the young with its bustling bars, clubs, and fish restaurants. Recommended for eating lunch or evening meals overlooking the harbour.

If you want some retail therapy there are fantastic shopping centres at La Zenia and espacio meditarraneo approximately 15/20 minutes drive.

San Javier, Santiago de la Ribera all have very attractive beach fronts with their promenades, offering shops and restaurants.

15 minutes drive is La Manga strip. This is a narrow strip of land separating the Mediterranean sea from the quiet waters of the Mar Menor offering all the water sports you can imagine.

Golfers Paradise: There are 9 golf courses within a 15 minute drive of the property including 3 championship courses, the famous La Manga and Roda being popular choices. La Serena is situated in Los Alcazares and fast gaining a reputation as a superb course to play. Discounts on green fees are available for renters - please ask for details

About Geoff Warrington

We live in a small village in Hertfordshire Geoff is a IT manager for a print company in central London and Val is a main grade lecturer at an FE college in north London. We have two children, one doing a PHD in Sheffield and the other beginning a teaching career in London. As often as we can we try and get over to Los Alcazares to take advantage of the relaxed lifestyle and good weather. We are only 20 minutes from Luton and the 15 minute journey from the San Javier to our apartment makes it ideal for short breaks.

Why Geoff Warrington chose Los Alcázares

We knew the area reasonably well since Geoff’s sister also owns an apartment on the same complex which she bought in 2004. We have visited many times at different times of the year and enjoyed the feel of the small Spanish town and the wonderful beaches and restaurants. The short drive from the airport is ideal for short breaks which suit us and also we wanted somewhere close to the beach so that it was not always necessary to hire a car. The apartment we found was perfect with spectacular views out to the mountains to enjoy over your evening glass of wine.

What makes this apartment unique

The complex is very well maintained and this was important to us as we wanted somewhere special for our second home. We have wonderful views out to the mountains from our balcony and being at the rear of the complex makes it peaceful even in the busy summer months. The apartment has everything you need and is a pleasant place to relax (thanks to the air con) after your hours in the sun.

A nice little flat.

A comfortable stay with all modern conveniences. No negative points other that the noise from the motorway and the bright street light outside the window which prevented the opening of the bedroom windows at night.

Owner's Response: Thanks Desmond for your nice comments. There is a street light outside the apartment but it is possible to open the door and close the shutter if it disturbs at night. As I commented before the AP7 is distant but you can hear some noise if the wind is in a particular direction.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice comments. The AP7 is about a mile away across the field in front of the apartment and the noise from it varies depending on the time of day, time of year and obviously wind direction. We have never found it disturbs us sitting on the balcony.

Very nice property

Had a lovely 10 days in a well equiped property. Only 1 downside was the unclean bedding on bed and lack of replacement. This stopped me giving it a 5☆.Only a minor problem in a lovely location. Would deffinately reccomend.

The apartment was very good.. everything needed was there and working... fantastic to have a washer.

No complaints at all about the apartment and Ann the key holder was great, swift pick up from airport and very helpful and friendly. We could not fault the apartment or the communal areas and pool which were well maintained and clean.

However, having never been to Los Alcazares before we did find it to be a bit of a trek to the centre and even further to the more original areas....hated the "strip" of English bars, pubs and other restaurants as nothing Spanish about it. That is our personal taste and not a reflection on the apartment.

Consum and Lidl supermarkets being within a short walk was great and the shopping trolley was a really good idea.

If the resort appeals then I would recommend this apartment, particularly to a couple.

Owner's Response: There is a good variety of bars and restaurants within walking distance which I think cater for many tastes but if you prefer the old town it is very accessible by taxi from the rank at the end of the road. El Patio, a favourite with both Spanish and English is literally a few minutes away and offers traditional Spanish fare.

Sit back and RELAX

From start to finish everything was as stated. Easy pick up from airport. Ann showed us all we needed to know about the apartment. Nice open lounge leading to the evening sun trap terrace with views of the mountain etc. Bedrooms good size and very comfy, bathroom had everything you needed to clean up after a day in the sun etc. Easy walk into town center and the beach where theirs plenty of bars/restaurants to enjoy.
