Mornington Mews is a contemporary architect designed seaside house on three floors to take advantage of its superb position and views. The house has five bed rooms, two with king size beds, and three with king size beds that can also be setup as twin beds. (Sleeps upto ten in 5 to 8 beds) There are three bathrooms, two ensuite and the third a family bathroom. A large balcony with great views can be found off the comfortably furnished living room (newly refurnished for 2018 season), and a second balcony with even better views off the master bedroom on the second floor. An open plan kitchen dining room makes for a superb entertaining space, with a third balcony that can be thrown open to allow light and air into the room. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need from preparing a light salad for al fresco dining to a full Christmas dinner. To the side of the house is private parking and a fully enclosed lawned garden. For the 2018 season the garden now features a children's playhouse and slide, arbour seating, fountain and a BBQ. Further planting will add colour for the summer. In front of the house is a large terrace with a dining area, hot tub area and a relaxing casual seating area, also enjoying views. Wifi is provided so you can plan visits to local attractions and there is internet TV for entertainment. For cyclists the house lies right on the round the island cycle route, and the combination of a gated development and a fully enclosed garden means there is somewhere secure to leave bikes. Finally, a high chair and folding cot are provided for infants.

Wonderful view of the Solent

Three generations of our family loved the location and spacious accommodation of this property which is almost on the seafront. A swim in the sea, fascination with liners and commercial shipping as well as our love of sailing boats, an easy walk to Cowes High Street made this an ideal property for us.

Beautiful place but missing the basics

This was a beautiful home with wonders views. It was January when we stayed and very frigid. As a VRBO myself, I strive to make my guests comfortable. This place was lacking in some basic necessities, specifically:

-trash cans, the only one in the entire house was in the kitchen and there are 3 floors.

- no non to collect recycling inside the house or extra bags. I guess you’re just supposed to pile it up and carry it out.

- no paper towels in kitchen. There was a holder but no towels.

- no hand/face towels in bathrooms

-no washcloths for washing bodies

-local maps, attractions and transportation information would have been greatly appreciated.

Maybe I’m spoiled by American clothes dryers but this one took 2.5 hours for 4 pairs of jeans.

The empty hot tub on the porch taunted is in the cold weather. Would have been superb to soak in the warmth and take the chill out of our bones.

Owner's Response: Hi Michelle I'm sorry you found some aspects of the house disappointing. Firstly please note the house was not advertised as having a hot for your stay, nor was it shown in photographs. It arrived shortly before your stay and I've not yet fully tested it. It will be available from next month. In the living room there is a large blue box full of tourist brochures and maps, I'm surprised you didn't find it as it is mentioned in the property instructions and I've checked it is present as I went through it the day before your stay. Similarly the recycling bin is under the counter in the utility room. I note however the lack of bathroom bins and will add some more. Roly February 2018: Note hot tub fully commissioned and in use, new property instructions in place for guests and additional bins in bathrooms

We very much enjoyed staying here, the location very close to the Solent is great.

It's a lovely house which is very well maintained. Having the living room and dining room on the first floor gives great views!

Good sized house in a great location

The property is in a well maintained and very quiet gated development. The rooms were all of a good size with lovely views across the Solent. Very much enjoyed watching the cruise liners and numerous yachts as we came and went. There is also a lovely outside seating area, which would be lovely on a hot summers evening. Cowes has some very nice places to eat and is only a 10-15 minute walk along the seafront to the centre. Great base for us to have explored the IOW for the weekend.

Cowes is famous the world over for its yachting, particulary the annual week long regatta in August. Mornington Mews is superly located a short walk from the marinas and Yacht Clubs within Cowes, while its proximity to the water and beach mean it is a great place to relax with a view after a day on the water.

A few minutes walking takes you past the Royal Yacht Squadron (Cowes Castle) and into town, with its superb collection of bars, restaurants and boutique shops, alternatively you can walk the other way for sea views and countryside via the Island's Coastal Path.

Aside from visting for sailing, Cowes is a great place to base yourself to explore the island by car, bike or on foot. Alternatively Southampton (Shopping) and Portsmouth (Shopping, Historic Dockyard, HMS Victory and many other attractions are easily accessable via fast ferries from Cowes taking just 25 minutes, while London is only 2 hours away by ferry and train.
