We provide, free of charge, for guests of both our Gites in Southern Brittany:

- golfers can use any of our 3 sets of golf clubs on the local courses

- fancy a game of tennis at the excellent local courts (there is no charge to play)- we have 4 tennis rackets

- unlimited WiFi to keep in touch

- and baby equipment from cots, highchairs, pushchairs to baby baths etc to take the stress out of travelling

There are 4 acres of attractive communal gardens with two 6 meter HEATED pools, terrace, a pine forest & incredible views of the forested valley with walking routes directly into the countryside. The expansive grounds include a children's’ playhouse, climbing frame with badminton, table tennis, mini football net in the summer months! The pools enjoy full sun morning to late evening and are securely fenced & locked for your peace of mind.

This really is our difference: most holiday makers only have one or two weeks in which to enjoy their holiday in this culturally rich area. So that you get the best from your holiday we have compiled a unique information pack covering everything ( well, we hope it's everything - we have been running our business here for over 8 years but are always excited when we find something new!). Our guests have nick-named it the "Bible" which goes everywhere! In addition, we provide an events listing on arrival covering all the local events, markets and brocantes (second hand markets). We have a small cottage in the main gardens and are also on hand for any additional help that you may require, if you so wish. Please see our own website for more information.

Nestled in the beautiful countryside within easy reach (about 30 to 45 minutes) of the many wonderful sandy beaches of Southern Brittany or inland lakes & waterways, the hamlet of Le Crann is an easy 1 km walk or bicycle ride (on one of our bikes) to the small village of St Yves Bubry, with its traditional French bar and grocery shop. And if you fancy time out from cooking, there are many child-friendly restaurants nearby. The delightful river beach at Minezan with rustic bar nestled beside the lock and the popular animated museum of 16th century Poul Fetan are both a 10 minute drive away. For shopping and restaurants there is the charming village of Bubry (10 min), the market town of Baud (20 minutes away), medieval Hennebont with its beautiful floral displays, amazing Thursday market and medieval festival (20 min). There is so much to see or do it is difficult to know where to start (or finish?): whether it be beaches, water sports or other activities, to see the megalithes at the world heritage site at Carnac or the historic towns of Vannes, Josselin, Pontivy, Hennebont, Pontivy, Auray, Port Louis & Lorient to name but a few. See our website for our Hidden Gems too - those delightful places you just don't normally find without local knowledge.

Searching for those perfect Gites in Southern Brittany? Look no further. But sadly, scamming is on the uprise. How can you avoid being a victim? Please phone us to verify we are real with some additional questions - we won't be offended - your peace of mind is important to us and we love to be able to answer any questions you may have. Most owners will have a varied web presence and can be found elsewhere with a little homework. A scammer will have none. You can find us on Linkedin, social websites, our own website and listed with the local town hall. We also list on other adverts and in the phone book. Once you've found an owner, a simple solution is to make a free voice call over the internet and ask for a quick visual look at the premises. If the owner is not nearby, ask for more proof of ownership, e.g. photos of work done on the property or photos of testimonials. Such requests will scare off most scammers. It will be well worth your while!

For the comfort of all, no smoking inside the property is permitted.

No pets are allowed - sorry, we are allergic!

About Sue & Steve Anderson

In 2008, we moved to France from England for a gentler way of life and to give our daughter the advantages of becoming bi-lingual and exposure to a different culture. It was difficult with one of us having grown up in Cape Town to find something comparable but when we found Le Crann in Brittany we immediately felt at home. Now fully settled here in such a beautiful location, we can't imagine living anywhere else.

Sue & Steve Anderson purchased this cottage in 2008

Why Sue & Steve Anderson chose Quistinic

A key criteria for our purchase was any property had to be a 'home from home' for our guests. The stunning 16th Century properties give a real taste of a bygone age with all modern conveniences. Le Crann offered everything: A warm temperate climate with sunshine hours comparable to Southern France. Brittany has it's own distinct culture and language with extremely welcoming people. Close to many sandy beaches and the glorious countryside of the Blavet Valley. Activities for young & old including golf, cycling, canoeing, sailing and walking. Delightful places of historical interest with many cultural events year long. Proximity to UK and Europe with many access points by car, ferry or plane. Private south facing gardens and extensive communal gardens with heated pools.

What makes this cottage unique

With the large extensive gardens of 4 acres with views over the most beautiful countryside and situated at the end of a quiet country lane with no through traffic, our guests have commented on how safe and peaceful the gardens and surrounding environs are for children of all ages. The perfect place to relax and unwind. Most holiday makers only have one or two weeks in which to enjoy their holiday and a lot of time can sometime be spent trying to familiarise yourself with your environment. We have a small cottage in the main gardens and are on hand, if you so wish, to ensure you maximise your holiday and don't miss out on any holiday experience. We also have the most raved about Information Pack covering everything you could possibility want from your holiday. For those nature-lovers, walkers and cyclists there are walking paths leading directly from the property to many points of interest in the region.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Now that the hols are over, back to work again, sadly – we just wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful venue and location for our holiday with the family. It was truly memorable and one we will never forget. Iain and I went on to Newquay in Cornwall for the next week, and it did just not measure up to our holiday at le Crann! I have told many people at work about your cottages and I wish you a wonderful rest of season and 2011. Many thanks again

Le Crann

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing place to stay, we rented both cottages as there were 15 of us, 12 adults and 3 children. The cottages are maintained to a very high standard with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Sue and Steve were very helpful throughout and were always on hand to help with ideas for places to visit etc, they even booked a restuarant for us for our last evening there. The pools are very child friendly with a fence and locked gates so the children can run freely around the large grounds without you having to watch their every move. The surrounding areas are great for a stroll and places such as Vannes which i recommend a visit is only half an hour away.

All in all a great place to stay and would recommend it, we will definately be returning.

Thanks Sue and Steve.

A holiday we will always remember.

  • 5 of 5

We booked both cottages for a family holiday with our children and grandchildren. We had a fantastic time. The cottages more than lived up to and indeed excelled the photos and blurb in the advertising. They are very clean and well maintained. They have everything you could want in them and more. Sue and Steve were very welcoming and helpful and have gone to a lot of work making up a book of information for visitors which was much appreciated. The pools were a great hit with our family and we were in them or sitting round them every day that we could. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained with lots of room for the children including a play area, football net etc. Amenities for laundry were available and well used! All our family were enchanted with it and would certainly like to go again in the future.

Sue and Steve will get in any basic shopping that you may need, and there are plenty supermarkets within easy reach to keep you well fed. As we were a large group we did not eat out much at all, but we still enjoyed the local fare, buying from the markets and boulangerie etc. Sue and Steve will help with any questions or needs you may have and we would recommend this property to our friends and family.

We visited the Submarine Museum in Lorient - the museum was a bit disappointing, but going into the submarine was really good fun.

Vannes was a very popular town - very beautiful and full of character. We were there for the Bastille day celebrations and it was very colourful with people dressed up in period costume and dancing and parading in the streets. Well worth a visit. The Pont Scorf Zoo is also well worth a visit, although it rained while we were there. However, weather asidef it is a very good Zoo. Another lovely place is the weather is good, is Carnac. We visited the standing stones first and then got a 'free bus' down to the beach. The beach was lovely and the sea safe. The Quiberon Peninsula is another beautiful place to visit and shouldn't be missed when you are in this area.

Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable holiday which we will always remember. We were a mixed group of granny and grandad, mums and dads and young children and we all enjoyed it together.

The roads in France are very good, both the motorways and the lesser roads and the area around Le Crann is very quiet. We enjoyed driving!

We wish Sue and Steve all the best for the future and hope to be back some day to their beautiful property.

Wisteria Cottage experience

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Wisteria Cottage from 18th - 26th September 2010. On arrival we were given a warm welcome by Sue and Steve (the resident owners) who then gave us a comprehensive tour of the property, including the pools. We found this most helpful, eliminating having to make enquiries about thnigs we weren't sure of. Having said that Sue and Steve were there if we needed them at any time and more than happy to sort out any problems quickly and efficiently.

The weather was on our side for the time of year and we enjoyed a wonderful week exploring the area and generally relaxing. The pool we used was in a lovely position, always clean and well kept. The gardens are very peaceful and sheltered with surrounding woodland so a real suntrap. The traditional farmhouse was comfortable and well equipped. A bonus for us was the bath as we have found that alot of French properties do not have one. Altogether we would recommend this for a real French experience in a beautiful area of Brittany.

Un week-end dans un petit paradis

  • 5 of 5

Le Crann is situated in the commune of Quistinic, host to the 16th century village of Poul Fetan, immaculately restored to show life at that time. If you want to step further back in time, outside the village of Melrand (15 minutes away) is the Village de l’an mil, a 1000 year old reconstructed medieval village. Close by there are many historic towns and castles to visit including Hennebont, Auray, Pontivy, Vannes and Josselin. Morbihan is renowned for its megalithic stones with so many special places to visit; Carnac with its 3000 standing stones a must see, but also those at Locmariquer, Petit Mont or even catch a boat to the island of Gavrinis. And if that’s not enough, the region has plenty of museums, zoos and parks. Art lovers can follow the 'Art in the Chapel' exhibitions throughout the summer for a tour of the Blavet River chapels. The commune of Quistinic and the Blavet Valley is a walkers and cyclists paradise and the owner has details of many published routes with walking routes leading directly from Le Crann. For a lazy day, take a cruise down the River Blavet, or take one of many boat trips to the off shore islands and around the beautiful inland sea of the Gulf du Morbihan, where you can stop off on some of the larger islands for lunch, a walk and even a cycle. There is hardly a week that goes by without some festival in the region. Lorient hosts the delightful 10 day Inter- Celtique music festival and Josselin and Hennebont hold annually medieval festival. Many regattas are held at the yachting haven of Trinite-sur-Mer. And don't forget those local markets and brocantes for fresh produce or that antique bargain.
