Lovely apartment in great location

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is even better than the photos. Everything is well cared for, pristine and comfortable. Bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious, with plenty of storage, nice bed linens, good pillows and duvets. And there was extra space in a hall cupboard to store suitcases and coats. The bathrooms have rainfall shower heads with plenty of hot water (and some high end colognes, which we loved to sample each day). The kitchen has everything you could hope for. Marco provided both essential items like dishwasher tablets and laundry soap, and lots of extras — cookies, sweets and an Easter cake, and a range of ‘digestivos’, juice, coffee and a variety of teas. There was also a supply of olive oil, spices and vinegar, so we didn’t have to spend time shopping for basics while we were there. The living room has a flat panel TV, with English Netflix, which we did use one evening after a particularly long day out. Wifi service is very good. During the night, it was very quiet and with the shutters closed, dark and peaceful for a good night’s sleep. The decor is clean, tasteful and soothing in white, greys and blacks. It was a very comfortable place to spend time.

The location — the building fronts on to a street with shops, restaurants, bakeries and cafes and just a short walk to the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s. Just a 100M away is the Trionfale market, where we shopped several times for bread, cheese, fruit and vegetables. The market is worth a visit even if you don’t need to buy anything. There is also a supermarket close by. It's an easy walk to the Ottoviano Metro Stop. The metro is easy to navigate and inexpensive. We used it for several trips to the other side of the river (and we were always glad to come back to ‘our’ neighborhood in the evenings.) Marco left recommendations for restaurants and we tried several of them, all very good. It’s best to avoid the more touristy places closer to the Vatican. Marco is a charming and wonderful host. The booking arrangements were very easy, as was check out. He arranged a car to pick us up at the airport, and was flexible and gracious when our check in time changed by five hours because of a flight cancellation. He left a binder full of information about the apartment, the area, and Rome in general. He obviously takes pride in providing a flawless experience for his guests, and we were the happy beneficiaries. We will definitely return to this special place.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful and detailed review, and it was a pleasure to have you as guests. The fact that a guest observes in detail all the elements of the house, for me, is definitely reason for joy as each individual element of the house was searched carefully, the curtains are from Sweden, the silk cushions from India, the new Zealand wool carpet was purchased in England, many sheets are by John Lewis, some furniture are Italians, with regard to fragrances I am happy to know that you appreciate, Fendi is my choice for the cold seasons, Narciso Rodriguez is all year, in spring and summer you would find Elizabeth Arden and Prada. The extras are my own fun, and I like to pamper my guests with some nice extra. Regarding the location, it is undeniably perfect with every amenity nearby, I'm glad that you appreciated. As for the binder with the informations, I like to be organized and offer, actually, my guests a comfortable experience from the beginning and the end, I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you wish to come back, it will be a pleasure to host you, also you will always find the same level of care and attention. All the best.

A gem !Fantastic apartment, centrally situated, everything you wish for in a Rome holiday apartment

  • 5 of 5

If you are lucky enough to stay in this Rome apartment you will not be disappointed! We loved our Rome holiday & this apartment was ideal for our stay ( with our 3 children aged 17, 13 & 10). The apartment was centrally situated - 5 minutes walk from Vatican museums & 2 metro stops from everywhere else - all within a pleasant walking distance in any case. The apartment was in pristine condition with Marco’s thoughtfulness and attention to detail evident throughout. Marco met us at the apartment on arrival and had kindly arranged food including desert for us on arrival. He also arranged our airport transfers. All his local recommendations for restaurants & places to visit were spot on. We cannot recommend this apartment and it’s professional and considerate owner highly enough - many thanks Marco.

Clean, bright, warm and welcoming!

  • 5 of 5

We were two families traveling together from California. Two moms with three adult children, and Marco's apartment accommodated us perfectly.

Marco was the ultimate host, welcoming us to the apartment and explaining where everything was and how it worked.

Located on the 4th floor, there is an elevator that will bring you up to the apartment. It is small with old-world doors that you must open and close yourself. Be sure to close them when you leave so that others may access the elevator. If you wish to walk up, there is a circular stairwell with marble steps.

We arrived to a bright, clean apartment with a kitchen that contained anything we could want to cook with, a refrigerator stocked with milk, water, soda and orange juice, cabinets with tea, coffee, chocolate, and spices, and a lovely breakfast bread on the counter.

The beds were clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were stocked with spotless white towels. As others have mentioned, one can pamper oneself with a wide variety of facial cleansing products and lovely fragrances for both men and women. It's not a complaint, just an observance, it takes just a bit for the water to heat up in the bathrooms.

The apartment was QUIET! Even though it is on a busy street, there was no discernible traffic noise inside the apartment.

It is located less than a five-minute walk from the Vatican, and there are lovely places to eat (make sure to go to the bakery just across the street. Amazing breakfast breads and Italian coffees!) Marco also supplied a binder with recommendations for markets and restaurants in the area, as well as maps and other much-appreciated information.

Marco not only arranged for transportation from the airport, but also to meet a very early morning tour to Pompeii and another to the train station on the day we departed.

Would I stay here again? Yes! Would I stay in Rome longer! Absolutely.

Thank you, Marco!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful and detailed review, and it was a pleasure to have you as guests. I am glad that you appreciated the extra value of this stay that is hidden in the little attentions such as the additions in the refrigerator, in the details such as the fragrances and the toiletries, in the willingness to make your experience perfect and smooth. As for the water in the bathrooms, yes, it is not hot dispensed instantly but is a typical feature of all European homes and hotels. If one day you would like to return to deepen your knowledge of Rome, it will be a pleasure to host you and do my best to ensure, once again, a perfect experience.

Great location and all the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful Christmas week at Marco’s beautiful apartment. He made us feel right at home and provided many amenities that you don’t usually find at vacation rentals. He had a small Christmas tree up and an amazingly well-stocked kitchen. I appreciated his selection of tea every evening after a chilly day spent sightseeing. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable.

The apartment is larger than it appears in photos and we had plenty of space for our family of five. Both bathrooms were a nice size and were stocked with an incredible selection of high end toiletries and cologne (for men and women). If you were only going to Rome, you wouldn’t need to worry about much other than your clothes and a toothbrush/toothpaste. Our next stop was a rental in Venice and we had to go to the store immediately to purchase toilet paper, napkins and other small incidentals that weren’t provided. Not having to worry about these things in Rome gave us more time to relax.

The location is excellent, very safe building and neighborhood. It was a quick walk to the Vatican Museum and St. Peter’s Basilica. We easily walked to Castel SantAngel. Marco arranged transportation for us from the airport and to the train station, which was a huge convenience. We walked to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, but that might be too long for some people (about 45 minutes each way). We were so happy we stayed in Prati as opposed to the more touristy areas. Also there is an amazing market just around the corner from the apartment where we enjoyed buying fresh fruit, meat and cheese.

All in all, it was an excellent stay! We’ve already recommended it to our friends. Book well in advance if you want to stay here-I booked about 7 months in advance for the off-season.

Amazing Apartment and Host

  • 5 of 5

Marco is a very attentive, kind and warm host. He is very prompt with his replies and takes your queries and feedback seriously from the very start. He is totally focused on the comfort and well-being of his guest and it shows in his organization and attention to detail in his lovely apartment and responses. The apartment is on the 4th floor with elevator access after some stairs. Marco arranged transfers and orientated us to the apartment and provided us with delicious Panetone and cold water upon arrival.

The apartment is very clean, spacious, luxurious, modern with fresh colors and good-quality, furnishings. Every room has exciting discoveries. There was a real Christmas tree, decorated; sachets of wardrobe fragrances, perfumes for both men and women in each room (Fendi, 5th Avenue). Bedding was very comfortable and there were extra blankets provided not only for guests using the sofa bed in the hall but for all as well. The master bedroom has en-suite bathroom while the other twin room shares the bathroom in the hall. Full set of towels for each guest, including toiletries, cleansers. There is a small wall safe too hidden cleverly. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking utensils, dishwasher and washing machine (no dryer – use clothes rack). Marco stocked the refrigerator like a hotel mini-bar with water, iced tea, spirits and beer! There is also olive oil, salt, sugar, sauces, mixed herb seasonings if you plan to cook; not to mention different types of coffee (Italian, cappuccino) and tea (English Breakfast, Chamomile) and hot chocolate for kids. He left us a jar of delicious Almond Cookies (Ottimini). There is a file in the kitchen that tells you everything about the apartment and its surroundings, tips for eateries nearby, transportation. The Wifi connection is very good. There is Netflix with English movie selection and a speaker for music. Location is extremely convenient with Metro (Ottoviani),Vatican Museum, fresh market nearby (5-10 min) and a supermarket 3 min walk away. Lots of small little restaurants and interesting shops on the street. I travel often and I assure you the personalized attention, service and the apartment itself is comparable (or even better I daresay) to a five-star hotel. The apartment felt like home to my teenagers who preferred to stay in. When we moved from Italy to another “luxurious” apartment in Paris, we couldn’t help but miss ItaIy and Marco’s apartment. Thanks Marco for taking care of us!

Like staying with a friend!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was clean, comfortable and in a convenient location. It is so nice to have space for our family of 6 to spread out and still be together. The real selling point of this apartment is Marco. My only fear about staying in a VRBO place has been not having a concierge to help find things and give advice. Marco is an exceptional personal concierge! He arranged rides to and from airport helped with dinner reservations and addresses for gelato. I would highly recommend staying with Marco to any family coming to Rome
