Beautiful spot, tranquil but close to everything
We had a great week. The property is spacious and the garden extensive with olive trees and areas of shade for the heat of the day. We especially enjoyed the distant views from the terrace, swimming in the pool (larger than it looks) and playing table tennis. The house and kitchen is old-fashioned, but comfortable. Great location, close to glorious Lucca, and not much more than half-an-hour to the sea (We enjoyed Marina di Vecchiano) and interesting towns like Bagni di Lucca on the way to the mountains. Food was best in Lucca, plenty to choose from there, and great to wander round the shady walls before lunch. Giovanni was very welcoming and speaks excellent English.
Very nice house!
We had a great time in this beautiful located villa. The kids enjoyed the pool a lot. We have stayed in many vacation homes over the years and this was one of the best. Very friendly and relaxed owner too.
Détente et sérénité.
Excellentes vacances au calme. Tout était conforme à l'annonce. Le propriétaire vraiment adorable et discret. A recommander. Encore merci pour tout.
Wonderful Holiday!
Our family (4 adults and 2 young children) stayed for 7 wonderful days and nights this past June and we absolutely loved every minute of it. More than anything, this villa and great location give the visitor a real Tuscan/Italian experience, and at the very same time provides all of the comforts of a spacious home base with an inviting pool and beautiful garden. Giovanni and his family were welcoming and helpful.
Relaxing
So much of Italy is fast paced, which is what made this home the perfect place for us to finish our holiday. It is centrally located to many sights and was wonderful to come home to after a hectic tourist packed day. Pretty, Spacious, homely, comfortable, clean felt like our home away from home. Had an amazing time relaxing on the back porch soaking up the sun and the view. Had 4 adults and 3 young children - was plenty of space for all and the children loved exploring the garden. The owners were accomodating and provided highchairs and cots. We would stay here again without hesitation. Thankyou.
perfect spot to explore Northern Tuscany
Great location as only 10mins drive outside Lucca, and a 10 minute walk to the village which had great bakery, gelateria and pizzeria, but still very quiet and not overlooked with large garden and pool. Other villas we looked at were further in the hills but for sightseeing, they would have been too isolated, and too far to the motorway. There's also a working farm five mins walk away which also has a farm shop so great for kids to visit and also for local produce.
The owner, Giovanni and his brother could not have been better hosts and any questions or queries we had were quickly answered. In all, a great holiday with our 20month old son.
Location
Pettirosso is about 10 mins from the walls of Lucca. Pisa airport is a 30 mins drive. Viareggio, on the Versilian coast, is about 30 mins and Forte dei Marmi a further 10 mins along the coast. Florence takes about 60 mins by car and a similar time by bus. The nearest motorway exit is about 8 mins. There are two general stores within five minutes and several major supermarkets 8 mins away. The nearest restaurants are within five minutes.
Northern side of Lucca is where you find the Garfagnana valley with Apuane Alps on the west side and Appennini mountains on the east side . Also the Lima Valley is very interesting to visit also for the numerous medieval villages scattered all over the area . Bagni di Lucca is a small gem in the Valley famous for its thermal Baths and its beauty .
