Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in Neo Chorio - Aphrodite Rock Villa

3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 8

The Aphrodite Rock Villa is a fully furnished, spacious detached property surrounded in landscaped gardens with a private pool. The property is on three levels; 3 bedrooms on the top floor (one master bedroom en-suite, double bed second bedroom and twin bed third bedroom) plus a large shared bathroom. The middle floor has a large living/dining room and kitchen plus a separate WC. Finally on the lower floor, there is the utility room (this has a shower and a toilet also) and a large 4th bedroom with double bed. The villa has private road for parking. The property boasts four verandas, three of which have panoramic views of Chrisochous bay, Akamas National Park and the famous Troudos mountain range.

Why would this property suit you?: This property would suit holidaymakers with varying requirements. If you want to get away from it all and just relax then the quiet surroundings and private nature of the villa is ideal. If you are looking for activities including water sports, mountain biking, gliding, rambling and many others then this would be a perfect choice. The villa easily accommodates eight people, and family groups or groups of friends would find the villa very complimentary. The area surrounding the villa is relatively unspoilt as much of the land is deemed 'Green Land' by the government and cannot be built on by developers.

The panoramic View: One thing that is very difficult for us to show you via our photographs is the simply stunning views from the villa. The villa stands right on the border of the Akamas National Park and enjoys views of the area from three verandas. The main views are from the pool side of the villa where you have an uninterrupted view of Chrysachou bay. The Troudos mountain range completes the panorama. Most guests have commented on these views being one of the highlights.

Imagine sitting at one of the marble tables on a comfortable chair watching the world go by while you take a glass of fine Cypriot wine! Marvellous!

*The villa does have a fourth bedroom situated on the ground floor of the property - Please ask if you require more information.

About Nick Atkins

It is a very special place for us as it is our first property abroad and we use it for short family breaks during the year. We bought it on plans in 2003 and on 21st April 2004 it was finally finished. We spent a lot of care and time getting the right fitting and furnishings and we believe we have set it up to be most comfortable. My wife and I both work abroad but all of our family live in the UK so Cyprus was the perfect place for us all to meet up in the sun!

We have put a lot of thought and work into making our holiday home as comfortable as possible, and we hope you will enjoy your stay.

Nick Atkins purchased this villa in 2003

Why Nick Atkins chose Paphos & Suburbs

As soon as we saw it, compared to many of the properties we had visited we fell in love with the location, views and this part of Cyprus.

What makes this villa unique

Tranquil, serene and beautiful yet with every amenity close by. Walking through the front door you are greeted with one of the first views from the veranda. When you get up to the bedroom level you are then greeted with an even more breathtaking view!

Guestbook comments from the owner

'We have now returned home and want to let you know how much we enjoyed the view and the location of your villa for the last month. We think that we had the best possible location on the whole island.' - Mr and Mrs Willie (Canada)

'I thought I would drop you a line to let your know how much we enjoyed

staying in your beautiful Villa. We loved the area so much we are now

seriously planning to buy in 5 years time and retire in Cyprus shortly after

that. We would gladly recommend your villa to our friends.' - Mr and Mrs Hardley (UK)

'We had a great time last week in your delightful villa - those views, wow!' - The Clarks (UK)

'Just back from our brilliant holiday at the Villa. Your villa is fantastic with everything you would need. The views of course, as expected, were outstanding and the weather didn't disappoint either. I would recommend the villa to any interested friends.' The Kinnears (UK)

Spacious villa with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have just spent a very relaxing 2 weeks in this villa. We were told how beautiful Cyprus can be in early spring and were not disappointed. The area around the villa is perfect for country walks and the flowers in the meadows and the sides of the roads/footpaths were beautiful. This can all be seen from the villa which had its own spectacular views from the balconies and terrace. From the top balcony, especially, the view of practically the whole of Chrysochou Bay was stunning. What a view to wake up to every morning. We never got tired of it.

Besides the views, what we loved was the feeling of being part of the village of Neo Chorio. The villa is only a few yards from the edge of the village and we often walked down the hill, steep to start with, through the village to call at the local Co-Op shop (don’t think you get dividend here!) or, more likely the local taverna, opposite. Two of the three tavernas in the village were open during our stay. We really felt welcome at the Stone Castle opposite the Co-Op shop. The manager is a lovely guy called Andreas who speaks excellent English (he is Cypriot but was brought up in Australia till he was 9). This was good village food and very reasonably priced and, big plus point, only a 5 minute walk from the villa.

The villa itself was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The evenings were a bit cool but there were heaters available and the A/C gave heat as well, I guess, as cooling for the hotter times of the year. We visited Latchi beach and one near the Baths of Aphrodite, both 5mins by car, and the sea was warm enough for swimming. This beach is great for snorkeling and the colours of some of the rocks are amazing.

We have had a really relaxing time at the Aphrodite Rock villa and will be recommending it to our friends. In fact, I hope we can persuade some of our friends to stay there with us next year, if not later this year. Just loved it!

Great villa with stunning view

  • 4 of 5

Had a great eleven day break in this villa.

Good points: 1.Location, for us it was perfect (that's why we chose this area) good walking and good fun driving on the rough roads and getting lost, would also be great for those who enjoy cycling/mountain biking. Also easy to drive to the Troodos mountains. The views from the villa are stunning, we found it hard some days to drag ourselves away and go out.

2.Choice of restaurants, we ate out quite a lot and did lots of research beforehand, and in most cases were not disappointed. One notable exception was Porto Latchi, which we had been looking forward to visiting to try the fish meze. Although the food was fine, the boss and his staff were pretty unfriendly and seemed to have the attitude that because they were so well established we were of little importance. I would say dont be tempted by the great location of Porto Latchi you wont have to go far to find comparable food with much friendlier service. Worth a special mention, and within walking distance, is The Stone Castle Tavern, opposite the co-op store in Neo Chorio, very friendly, welcoming and relaxed.

3.The friendly people are one of the reasons we came back to Cyprus, and we were not disappointed on this trip.

4.The weather was great if a little too hot at times (36c)didn't walk as much as we had planned.

5.Villa owners. Very helpful and quick to reply to enquiries. Thanks.

Not so good points:

1.No dishwasher! Although there was just the two of us, on the days when we cooked at the villa and also when we had a couple of barbecues, we would have liked to have avoided the washing up, maybe a minor point for some, but we were on holiday after all. We did notice in the villa description there was no mention of a dishwasher, but were hoping it had been overlooked.

2.The dogs next door. It would have been nice to have had a couple of lie-ins bearing in mind we were on holiday. Sadly we were woken at around 6.30 every morning by the dogs barking next door. A couple of times we made the most of it and watched the sunrise while having an early breakfast, nice, but it would have been nicer still to have had a proper nights sleep.

Finally, I would say the good far outweighs the notsogood, and we would definately consider returning, and would recommend this villa to others.

Owner's Response: Regarding the early morning awakenings by the dogs. I am very sorry you could hear them, this is the first and so far last time we have had anyone mention this to us. Incidentally the neighbours dogs are now much older and although they occasionally will bark they do not make a nuisance for our guests.

Wonderful views and spacious villa

  • 4 of 5

We thought the location of this villa was fantastic for exploring the Akamas peninsular, Polis, Latchi and the lovely village of Neo Chorio - complete with resident donkey. We stayed as an extended family of 7 in the villa, 3 couples and a three year old and found there was ample room for all inside and outside and the villa was well equipped with washing machine, cooker, microwave, juicer, coffee machine etc and nicely furnished. The pool outside was a great bonus for those days when you really didn't want to drive anywhere, just relax by the pool, enjoy the view and BBQ . It got the sun pretty much all of the day and had plenty of space to sit beside it to eat/drink etc.

Only dissapointment we found with the villa was the fourth double bedroom in the basement which was dark and musty with just one small window close to the store room for the pool filter so was noisy if you had the bedroom window open. The bathroom for this bedroom was also in the utility room next door which at night meant going outside and into the room next door which had a toilet and shower and a kitchen sink for face/handwashing although you could go upstairs and use toilet and handbasin there. So was a bit of a dissapointment for the couple that had this double as the other upstairs double rooms were lovely and light with balconies and nice bathrooms - showers were great

The proximity to the village of Neo Chorio was great for walking down for a coffee or meal, only five mins stroll. We tried three of the restaurants and found them all to be good and very friendly although there was also a great choice of fish restaurants at the bottom of the hill in Latchi and a bit further on in Polis. Also plenty of choice for vegetarians! The taverna at the Aphrodites Rock about 10 mins drive is lovely in the evening for a drink ( we didn't eat ) when it is quieter and has a lovely view of the coastline although beware of the pushy lady in her van in the car park selling peaches!

Good playpark for smaller kids near the beach at Latchi. Also easily accessible to Paphos about 40 mins to do historical sites etc.

We found the best sandy beach was at Lara and very quiet although the track isn't great but manageable by regular car if you are careful as the other beaches closeby are shingly and stony so not ideal for any sandcastle makers and most are quite near the road.

The property was well maintained and clean and tidy and we would recommend it to others given our comments above.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very kind words about our villa and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay there. As your booking was the start of the main season I am very sorry but we usually air out all the rooms in the villa at least a week before our guests stay. On this occasion I don't think we did that enough and I can only apologise. In future we will make sure this happens and thank you for your valued feedback.

Pictures listed really don’t even do this place justice. The surrounding area is all sloping meadows (complete with lovely donkey) with unrestricted sea view is just bliss. The villa is spacious, clean, well thought out and has everything facility/equipment wise you could need. The local village has some lovely tavernas packed with character with many friendly ex pats making you feel at home, local town Latchi a short taxi ride away for larger choice of bars/restaurants.

All in all we had lovely weeks holiday here, the villa in its peaceful but beautiful surroundings is perfect for a relaxed break, with so much near by to do for fun. Welcome pack on arrival a very thoughtful and much appreciated gesture!

I was very sad to leave, our week flew by and we will be back soon I hope.

Neo Chorio

The villa is situated on the outskirts of Neo Chorio, a traditional 300+ year old Cypriot village up in the hills overlooking the coast of Chrysachou bay. The village is small with one winding road that goes down to the local harbour of Latchi or up to the Akamas National Park. The village boasts three tavernas, a few small local shops and a small bank. The closest tourist information office is in the town of Polis which is around 10 minutes drive from the village. The closest shop is approximately 5 minutes walk from the villa.

For most of your shopping needs you would venture to Latchi harbour, around a five minute drive away (3klm). Here there are a couple of local supermarkets; you can't miss them as Latchi is basically one road past a lovely marina/harbour. You can buy most things you would need including meats, vegetable, fruit, breads, dairy, toiletries etc. I would highly recommend the locally produced oranges (they are cheap and superb for a morning drink of fresh orange juice - we have an electric juicer). If you want to venture slightly further, then Polis is a more cosmopolitan town with slightly more choice. If you want 'Tesco’s' type shopping then there is a new Papantonio's (large supermarket) in Polis which is about 5klm from the villa. Please do use the local shops in the village as they have a surprisingly wide range of items from local produce to such as eggs, fruit and wines to branded items you would find in any supermarket. Some holidaymakers often ignore these shops but the locals are very friendly and are glad to see the trade!

Restaurants / Cafes / Bars / Pubs

There are some fantastic local restaurants in Chrysachou bay. The guest book gives you telephone numbers and more addresses. Latchi is renowned in Cyprus for its fish restaurants, especially the fish meze which costs £12-15 per person and includes many courses of local fish that changes depending on what has been caught that morning! A meze, you will find, is great value and unique to every taverna or restaurant. Polis is the closest town, again with more choice, ranging from traditional Cypriot fare to modern continental food, burgers and pizza. There are a couple of fantastic restaurants we have found in the hills in the village of Kathikas (Imogen's particularly). There are lots of bars of all types in both Latchi and Polis along with cafe's.

Leisure Activities

There are many varied leisure activities in the local area, some of these are literally just short walk outside the front door of our villa (walks/picnic sights/bird watching/mountain biking). Many of these are listed on our website/guest book and if you would like to know if a specific activity is available then contact me and I will let you know the details.
