Description

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday apartment in Newcastle - IR928

Apartment in Dundrum, Co. Down, Ireland. Sleeps five. Situated at base of Mourn

Chances Mourne View is a beautifully presented Five Star first floor apartment situated on Northern Ireland's stunning coastline in the heart of the famous Mourne Mountains. This spacious apartment has magnificent views over Dundrum Bay Nature Reserve. From your balcony you can view a variety of species of birds and wildlife. The location is very convenient and Dundrum is located only 40 minute's drive from Belfast. The Royal County Down golf course and Newcastle are just minutes away

The Village and Dundrum Bay has everything to offer in the way of amenities. .Our unique location on the edge of Dundrum Bay and the luxury of Chances Mourne View makes it the perfect place to stay when you are exploring Northern Ireland. There are a number of award winning restaurants available within a two minute walk. Pubs, coffee shops, hairdressers and beauticians are also on your doorstep.

Dundrum Castle overlooks the village and is considered one of the finest 12th century Anglo Norman examples in Northern Ireland and also offers wonderful views of the surrounding area and out to sea. Re-enactment of the battles featured in the film “Game of Thrones” often takes place in the castle grounds. Maritime enthusiasts will also be interested to learn that the SS Great Britain washed up on the shores of Dundrum Bay where the local community immediately came to their aid with accommodation and sustenance.

The coastal path built on the old railway line is a pleasant route for walking and stretches for miles. Dundrum has an array of glorious coastal and nearby mountain walks. A favourite of many visitors is the walk to Keel Point, a short stroll for the sedate walker. Murlough Beach is less than 5 minutes away with Blue Flag status and life guard supervision. This beach continues all the way to Newcastle where the new promenade built to great acclaim stretches the full length of the town.

Fishing, canoeing, horse riding, golfing are just few of the many choices available locally. Why not visit Tullymore Forest Park, over 600 hectares at the foot of the Mourne Mountains where you can enjoy picnics, forest walks and a wonderful children’s playground. Some of the scenes from “Game of Thrones” were also filmed there; Oak wood from Tullymore Forest was used for the interior of the Titanic. Lively Newcastle is only 4 miles away where you have a selection of restaurants, bars and hotels etc. Charlie Chaplin actually stayed in the Slieve Donard Hotel and the main bar was re-named in his honour.

Other places to go further afield, but within easy access, include Belfast and the Titanic Centre. The largest trampoline park in Europe called “We are Vertigo” has recently opened in Belfast with gladiator jousting, ski centre, basketball lanes and much more. A visit to the Giant’s Causeway is also a must. For the longer stay, there is a direct bus service to Dublin( with a quick changeover in Newry) where you can visit Art Galleries, Trinity College where the famous Book of Kells and of course the famous Guinness Brewery.

Our accommodation sleeps five and has three bedrooms including one en-suite. The Master bedroom has dual aspect and you can see right across Dundrum Bay. The property boasts a spacious open plan living area facing onto the waterfront balcony where you can enjoy al fresco dining while enjoying the spectacular views. There is a well equipped modern kitchen to cater for all your needs. The apartment has recently been refurbished to a very high standard that creates a bright, airy and tranquil atmosphere to ensure you will feel relaxed and refreshed after your stay.

Mary is more than happy to work with you on a suggested itinerary to include making local restaurant bookings and places of interest to see, for whatever takes your fancy.

About The Owner

Mary and Noel are proud owners of this luxurious apartment in a unique location.

We have been doing Holiday Lets for three years now and have always aimed to keep a high standard and it is gratifying to see all the wonderful reviews we have received. We like to meet our guests and to be nearby if they need anything

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2013

Why The Owner chose County Down

Sea Views and a wonderful place to unwind from the stress of a busy modern life!

The beauty of Dundrum is that everything is only a three minute walk away. It is suitable for a peaceful holiday but also lots of activities available locally. Murlough Beach is great for children or for those who like to walk. You would find it hard to find a more beautiful view anywhere else on the Mourne coastal route.

What makes this apartment unique

Peace and quiet but with everything you require just three minutes away. The apartment has a tranquil atmostsphere and is furnished and

decorated to a high standard . The views are absolutely stunning and ever changing. There are plenty of interesting walks nearby with a visit to Dundrum Castle a must where Game of Thrones enactments have sometimes taken place.

A beautiful apartment in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

We were met by the owner who showed us around. The apartment was spacious and the decor and fittings were lovely. Everything we needed for a perfect stay was there. The beds were very comfortable and we ate breakfast on the balcony looking out over the water and listening to the water slapping against the boats....idyllic!

A little piece of heaven

  • 5 of 5

This apartment has everything....wonderful views over the Mountains of Mourne and the estuary with ever changing tides, birdlife and boat life, beautiful, welcoming décor and a great location. The owner has considered every detail in furnishing the apartment including a picnic basket, beach towel, games and books. The area is fascinating and the local eateries are all good or better. Dundrum Castle on a fine day offers more amazing views as does a drive through the Mountains and a visit to Tollymore Forest. Our whole holiday was first class and the apartment and its views will stay with us forever.

Ladies Weekend

  • 5 of 5

WOW!! We have been coming to Ireland & Northern Ireland for 7 years and this is by far the most impressive place we have stayed. It is just as it is shown in the pictures. We love this place!!! We had all the needed amenities, the home was clean, neat and well kept. We were met by Brenda and her daughter and they were both absolutely wonderful, and provided us with information regarding the surrounding areas. There are several beautiful sites within close proximity that are a must see...Tollymore Forest, Silent Valley, Dundrum Castle and many more. We will be back! Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.
