About the property

4 bedrooms, 2 new bathrooms with pretty garden and new conservatory dining room

Sausage Cottage has been lovingly restored over the past 20 years and provides characterful and comfortable accommodation with a pretty garden. There are great walks from the door. It is a few doors down from the great Red Lion Pub which serves good food and real ales. The cottage boasts two sitting rooms, one downstairs with wood fire, pianola, stereo and large CD collection. the other upstairs with Smart TV , DVD player and DVD selection. The beds are extremely good and we have recently installed a new bathroom with a great shower and deep bath. We have just knocked through to the barn to create a new ensuite double bedroom. Two wood burners and storage heaters will keep you warm in winter and the well equipped kitchen has underfloor heating. A brand new conservatory offers a light and spacious dining area. Wifi throughout. There are several good walks from the cottage or on nearby Exmoor National Park where you can see wild horses and deer. The north Devon surfing beaches are 35 mins drive away. There are nearby freshwater fishing ponds too. Shopping for antiques, clothes, books and homewares in nearby Dulverton can lead to a great lunch at Woods Restaurant or the Bridge Inn.

About Genevieve

Jerry and I live between London and Devon. When we are at the cottage we enjoy horse riding and walking on Exmoor and eating at local pubs and restaurants as well as shopping in Dulverton. We have been married since 1998 and bought the cottage shortly thereafter and have restored it gently over this time. We produce children's TV programmes.

Genevieve purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Genevieve chose Mid Devon

The ancient cottage is full of character and built over several levels. The garden affords views over pastoral fields and the two sitting rooms allow for kids to watch TV whilst adults sit by the fire with a glass of wine! The pub 3 doors down means you don't have to cook if you don't want to. I am from London and my husband is from the West country so we bought this cottage when we got married so that although we now live in London, Jerry can stay connected with his family and roots.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is in a farming village a very short drive away from beautiful Exmoor where I horse ride but you can also walk and enjoy watching the wild ponies and deer. Tarr Steps neolithic bridge is also great place to visit. A bit further takes you to the North Devon beaches which are famous for their surf but also huge sandy beaches where you can walk for miles. Nearby Bampton and/or Dulverton has a butcher, baker and other convenience stores, pubs and gift/clothes shops for retail therapy and supplies.

We had a very pleasant stay from start to finish.

This cottage is ideal for those who want the peace and quiet offerred by the tranquillity of the countryside location. It is a comfortable cottage suitable for a small family. Great for a short break.

Excellent, quiet cottage for families

We spent a wonderful week in the cottage! We did not miss anything, the conservatory is a great place to be. Great base to explore the north and south cost: valley of rocks, saunton sands, Woolacombe, Exeter, Brixham....
