Ideal if you seek the simple life

Tucked away in a quiet village, these apartments give lots of space and great views. It’s a shame they are not closer to a beach, the nearest being a couple of miles’ drive, but that is a beautiful beach so worth the drive. There’s very little in Cotteau Raffin itself, but a mile up the road in La Gaulette there is a very good supermarket, and some eating options- we only tried Enso, which did good burgers and beer. A good location for exploring the Black River Gorges and Chamarel area. The apartment is very simply furnished - personally we thought a small indoor dining table and a bit more storage would have been helpful. The description is accurate, so note there is no TV or hairdryer, for example, if that matters to you. The WiFi was great once working - we didn’t realise we could connect to any of the 4 networks, and lost access for a couple of days. The only disappointment was belatedly discovering the apartments are listed significantly cheaper on an alternative booking site.

Wonderful 3 week stay at Beautique Studios

During our Mauritius holidays, we didn't want to be surrounded by too many tourists and were looking for a more authentic experience in beautiful natural surroundings. And that's exactly what we got a Beautique Studios. The apartments are situated in Cotaeu Raffin, where you can watch Mauritian village life go by. The rooms are very spacious and uncluttered, something we came to appreciate very much. Every second day there is a cleaning service, which makes for very comfortable holidays and the Wifi connection is excellent. But what really made our stay was the people - Trish and Kevin are wonderful hosts. They really make you feel at home and help in any way they can. They also just got brand new kayaks delivered and we had a lovely paddle out to Ile aux Benetiers (although my arms thought otherwise). We rented a very reliable little car from Victor who is also a wealth of information and is by your side whenever needed. All in all a home away from home. Oh yes, and the roof top terrace - nothing better than sipping your coffee there in the morning and enjoying the million dollar view! The beach at Le Morne Brabant is 5-10 min drive away and we can honestly say for us it is the best beach on the island. I would come back to Mauritius for that beach alone. You snorkel out for 30 meters and you feel like you are in an aquarium. The natural landscape in that area (south west in Mauritus) was for us also the most beautiful on the whole island with tropical forests and only a few kilometers away from the mountainous Chamarel area. Studio on first floor

The studio was really spacious, the kitchen had everything one needed, the bbq was Weber... luxury! The cleaning ladies were really lovely and friendly and Victor helped with the essential things in a very helpful manner. Overall - would definitely recommend Beautique studios. A must is to get a car however- but for this Victor can help you. Thank you so much for exisiting Beautique studios! Bhavnita

Luxury feeling!

My stay is really wonderful! I must say the decoration / style of the studio is really nice. I feel at home :-) Level of comfort is high with the nice shower, refrigerator, safe, clothinghangers (it's handy and not always available in hotels!) balcony, etc. The rooftop is so nice as well! I wish the evenings were longer! Unfortunately the sun sets at 17:45 hrs (June). Cleaning is also excellent! At the moment I am taking kitesurfing lessons, so you can imagine time flies for me! Thank you! Sander

Studio propre

Studio grand, confortable et propre. Terrasse agréable pour prendre ses repas. En revanche bruit strident (de pompe ?) à proximité et incessant. Eau chaude 1 jour sur 1 semaine. Panne totale d’eau pendant 24h Pas d’accueil par les proprios L’annonce ne précise pas l’étage (nous aurions préféré l’étage supérieur) Pas de TV surtout si le temps est mauvais

Why they chose this property

This is truly the best Mauritius has to offer in terms of being close to the natural highlights and the clearest waters we have found on the island for snorkelling, it is possible to connect with nature in quite spectacular ways ( swim with wild dolphins an experience unique to this area)
And of course the lagoons of Le Morne are ranked as one of greatest places to wind & Kite surf. The hiking here is also world class, and has a number or good local restaurants. Best suited to those looking for daytime action.
