Peaceful and Unspoilt Location, Within Easy Reach of Local Towns and Beaches

Charming, very well appointed 2 bedroom townhouse located in a small village called Fonte Santa, near Vila Nova de Cacela. If you want a very unspoilt and peaceful location where the locals seriously outnumber the tourists then this is for you! There are 11 townhouses with a large shared swimming pool with an outside shower, secure parking, landscaped gardens and communal BBQ area. We are friends with a number of the other owners so could organise additional property rental in the complex if you are a larger group. The development is fully fenced and safe for children, and our house has comprehensive safety/security and has been fully inspected by the local authority and granted an “Alojamento Local” AL (Local accommodation) license which is a new legal requirement for lrental in Portugal. The Eastern Algarve has many beautiful beaches, great local restaurants that are great value for money compared with the more tourist centric locations and a generally unspoilt Portuguese culture

There is a small bar in the village serving drinks and snacks and has a large screen TV showing sports etc, the nearest supermarket 2km away in Vila Nova de Cacela and a larger Ecomarche is about 5km away on the main EN125 near Altura. There is is also a daily bread van that stops in the village and sells fabulous fresh bread, rolls and cakes as well as a fish monger and greengrocer who call through as well. In Tavira itself, there is a fantastic market where you can buy fish caught that morning and well as excellent and cheap fruit and vegetables from local producers. There are some great local restaurants within a 20 minute stroll or 5 minutes drive of the property.The nearby Ria Formasa Natural Park is a wonderful place to relax and an important refuge, feeding and breeding ground for many species of birds, animals and plants. It is of international importance, not only to birds as they migrate between Africa and Europe.

Near Olhao, at Marim, there is a visitors centre with a restored tidal mill, as well as a breeding programme for the native Portuguese Water Dog, which had almost become extinct. The Ria Formosa is a great place to view wild flamingoes and you may even be lucky enough to catch sight of the rare purple gallinule - the symbol of the park. The old towns of Cacela Velha and Castro Marim are nearby and you can be in Spain within 15 minutes. The main town of Tavira is 10km west from Fonte Santa. It is a lovely town with a great deal of history, a Roman Bridge, lots of cobbled streets leading to fascianting churches, buildings, restaurants, shops and bars.

The local white sandy beach of Manta Rota which has a good selection of bars and restautrants is a 5 minute drive away. The large and popular town resort of Monte Gordo is 15 minutes drive. In the other direction the truly stunning white sand beach of Ilha de Tavira, 15km long set in the Ria Formosa Natural Park with a great selection of seafood restaurants and bars is a 12 minute drive and short ferry crossing away.

Faro airport 45km by motorway. Nearest beach 4km, town and supermarket 3km, Tavira 11km. Golf 2.5km. local bar 250 metres. The nearby Ria Formasa Natural Park is a wonderful place to relax and an important refuge, feeding and breeding ground for many species of birds, animals and plants. The old towns of Cacela Velha and Castro Marim are nearby and you can be in Spain within 15 minutes. The main town of Tavira is 10km west from Fonte Santa. It is a lovely town with a great deal of history, a Roman Bridge, lots of cobbled streets leading to fascinating churches, buildings, restaurants, shops and bars. Golf: An excellent choice for golfers, the superb Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima golf courses are within 2 miles of the condominium. The Benamor course about 10 minutes away and the the new Monte Rei Golf and Country Club is about 4 kilometers/3 miles away with a Jack Nicklaus designed signature 18-hole golf course. The Monte Rei Golf & Country Club is without doubt the most exclusive and cosmopolitan development of its kind in the Eastern Algarve. The pretty course of Casto Martin is about 10Km away.
