The Cortijo is a beautiful old farmhouse, once the domain of a large finca and sadly abandoned and now restored to its former glory with much care. The entrance is from the long , cobbled terrace overlooking the white village of Albunuelas nestling below. The terrace is an ideal venue for an evening drink under the shade of the gargantuan centuries old Aleppo pine tree especially at sundown. The sitting room is located on the ground floor, a long room off the terrace and furnished with taste and practicabitity, combining rustic decor and period furniture, paintings and the windows framing picturesque scenes of the valley and gardens. Many facets of the original building have been left intact - the terracotta floor tiles and the wooden beamed ceilings.

A great place to stay for a relaxing time out of the big cities.
Our host was so helpful and met all our needs. The home is beautiful and makes you feel as though you have had a true visit to Spain.
Lovely house. Beautiful views
This is a lovely old farmhouse, beautiful within and outside. Inside there is lots of space and comfortable rooms with en suite showers. Outside, aside from the amazing views, there is a great pool, plus several different sitting areas, so you can socialise or find a peaceful corner as you wish.
Pepa, the housekeeper, keeps everything clean and tidy, but doesn't speak much English. Our one fault with the property is the lack of helpful local info. There were various leaflets from places of interest (mainly in Spanish and mainly in Granada) but it would have been good to have a little hand drawn map of the nearby village and some notes on places to go/eat/drink at and opening times etc.
The week we stayed was fiesta week in the village. This meant incredibly loud music was played from 11pm to 6am for four nights, followed by fireworks between 7am and 10am, which sounded like gunshots. We come from London so we are used to noise but this was something else! It would have been good to have been advised of this in advance, or at least for ear plugs to be provided for all guests, as not everyone travels with them.
Other than those two points we had a lovely restful (if not sleep filled!) week and would recommend it for a good break.
Vistas de ensueño
El cortijo es increíble, pero la ubicación y las vistas son aún mejores.
