|Minimum Stay||4 - 6 nights|
This newly-renovated two bedroom apartment is located in the heart of the most vibrant area of New York City: at the exact intersection of Chelsea, Greenwich Village and the Meatpacking District - the "it" spot in Manhattan. We are conveniently located just steps away from the main subway lines, 1, 2, 3, L, A, C, E and only a block away the F & M line. Plus you are a less than a 5 minute walk to the heart of Union Square, the High Line Park and Chelsea Market. Just next door is the most exclusive private club in New York - the Norwood Club - where you can rub shoulders with movie stars. Or maybe just visit Carrie Bradshaw's apartment from Sex in the City, which is only 4 blocks away. This apartment is on the third floor of an historic brownstone and has a bedroom with one queen sized bed; a second bedroom with three twin beds (including bunk beds); and a living room with sofa bed - thus making it potentially large enough to sleep 7 people. There is fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, air conditioning in both bedrooms, satellite TV, wifi and complete privacy. The building houses a 150-year old cultural society and has a magical air to it. On the ground floor you will find an impressive event room where they host tango classes, flamenco shows, art exhibitions and much more to delight your senses. In addition to all these amazing activities, there is an award-winning restaurant on the ground floor owned by the society in which all guests are offered discounts. The staff is very welcoming and kind. They will make you feel at home from the moment you step inside!
I really enjoyed my stay. From the moment I arrived and was greeted with a smile at the door, I felt welcome. The owner of the apartment, The Spanish Benevolent Society, holds functions on the first floor in a beautiful large room. They make the functions available for a discount (I did not take advantage of this).
The unit was very clean and the pictures represented it well. I work from "home" while traveling and found the Wi-Fi to work fairly well, most of the time. The quiet atmosphere in the apartment also made working from there a joy.
The location is fantastic! I go to NYC to walk and explore. This is in the heart of my favorite areas - the West Village and Chelsea. A short walk to many great areas, and you are far from the madness of Midtown Manhattan.
Though I would have enjoyed my stay, the graciousness I was treated to when I asked for a later checkout (I was going to visit family from there and just needed a few extra hours) was fantastic.
I would highly recommend this apartment.
This apartment is in a fantastic location! The price we paid is good for NYC at the time of year, however the apartment is extremely tired, the building itself looks ready to collapse, the "walk up" is an extremely steep three storey walk, old people or anyone with mobility issues will not make it up to the apartment. Also carting luggage up the stairs is a real challenge. The beds are not comfy and only one pillow per bed is provided along with a thing quilt. The kitchen and bathroom are old so they appear quite dirty. Hot water was also an issue some days. The single bed has broken planks of wood as a bed base, the heating in the apartment is okay however makes sizzling noises often. We had issues with the kitchen sink pipes water coming back up, the smell was disgusting. This was fixed within 24hours of alerting management Overall decent price for a Chelsea apartment however please be wary of the above comments, especially the stairs and the cleanliness
We spent a week in the 2 bedroom Suite with our 3 teenagers. Everything we could want was within a quick walk-- laundry, groceries, and drugstore. We especially loved the proximity to the subway! Communication with the proprietors was easy, too. The apartment was clean and exactly as pictured in the photos. A couple things to know: There is NO elevator in this historic building so do be prepared for stairs. The suite is on the top floor so it became very warm especially on the weekends. We had the windows open the entire visit, even when temps dipped into the 20's! Lastly there was LOUD music at night Thursday thru Sunday lasting until at least midnight. We were out late too and came home so tired it didn't really keep us from sleeping.
We've rented apartments in SoHo and the Lower Eastside. I think our recent stay in La Nacional was the best location for the money so far. We would definitely recommend this to other travelers!
