Guestbook comments from the owner

We hope winter is a good time for you. It is beautiful in spite of the adjustments it requires. We stayed in the Savannah House in late July last summer. We walked the Watkin's Glen trail (twice) and Taugannock Falls State park in Ithaca (seven dollars a day to visit all the State Parks you can get to!) and on the rainy day we went to the Museum of the Earth just North of Ithaca. In addition, Watkin's Glen and the Amish Farm just North of you were wonderful places to visit. It was a pleasure to relax mornings and evenings at your motel. Clean, marvelously appointed and surrounded by the beauty of one of the most wonderful areas on earth, the Finger Lakes. You promised me we would be glad we chose your motel for our four day stay and you were so right. We look forward to returning next summer for a getaway.

Overall Not A Bad Little Place

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for 2 nights, overall not bad. Very clean. Make sure you bring toilet paper as one of the other reviews said there were only half of an roll left for them, as there was for us. We stayed in November as for this time the leaves were mostly down around the jacuzzi. They could have rake the leaves around it so when you are getting in you wouldn't have leaves on your feet. For the most part we were very pleased !

Overall decent but not worth the money in my opinion, see description below.

  • 3 of 5

The cottage is a trailer that is behind a very old abandoned home, we knew it was a trailer from the pictures so that is no problem. It was very clean inside and staged very nicely. You can see the lake from the outside of the cottage and partially from the kitchen. The hot tub worked and was a nice addition.

Onto why this is a 3 star review. The outdoor area on the other hand has not been kept up, the furniture was cushioned outdoor furniture that was all left bent over with dirt and grime all over it. Normally this would be whatever but for over 300$ a night we should not be cleaning there furniture. The threshold to the door and staircase up are falling apart. The bed in the master was fine but in the spare room the bed had about 8" of clearance around it so no walking space or anywhere to put anything and the bed was an old mattress that would fold in on itself kind of like an old pull out couch. The cottage came with 1 half used roll of toilet paper and non else to be found in the place, luckily I have a roll in my car. Finally there were 5 lights out! The outdoor light, the 2 lights in the porch area and 2 lights in the kitchen.

Overall this was not worth the money and I would not recommend this to anyone, you could negate some of the negatives if the place was not so pricey but for the money we spent we think it should have been kept better. Originally I was going to make this a 2 star review however, the problems may not be on the owner and rather the property manager, if they are not changing the lights or toilet paper or letting the owner know the problems than maybe it could be fixed making it a nice stay for another family however we were not pleased.

Perfect for our weekend away!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect for our girls weekend away. We really enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pit, and both the outdoor and indoor space. Cottage was really close to the wine trail. Pat was really helpful with some recommendations and wine trail cards. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks!

Very Cute and Very Clean

  • 4 of 5

This was a perfect little place for a vacation. We booked this place for a girls weekend and found it very cute and reasonably priced. This home and hot tub was very clean. We where a little concerned about the door to the sun porch since it didn't seem to shut proper and the side door I could not get to lock, however the main door was fine. I am looking forward to booking this place again in the near future.

Horrible trailer

  • 1 of 5

I meant to write this review as soon as we got back but a family emergency took precedence and I forgot until I was cleaning today and found my receipt from our stay. I did not bother calling the proprietor because at that point there was no going anywhere else. So, here goes... when we arrived I just sat there and sobbed when I saw that we had paid a ridiculous amount of money to stay in a trailer for a week. It was a clean trailer but still a trailer. Trying to make the best of it - we called it the "mobile cottage." This trailer is about 15 minutes from the inn that is mentioned in the other reviews. This place is isolated and the neighbors were not friendly.

-The air conditioning for the bedroom consisted of a unit that looks like a humidifier that vents through the window. When you plug it in you can't walk beside the bed because the room is so small. And it is loud - so loud that I had to sleep on the couch.

-The closet consists a one rod in the bedroom in a nook that is open to the room. We kept our clothes in our bags on the bed in the other bedroom which I am glad we didn't need to use because the bed takes up the entire floor space.

-The bathroom is old, ugly and the shower is moldy. When you step up into the shower a tall person would hit their head on the ceiling. Luckily we are both under 6 feet. Not enough hot water for two showers in a row. Most of the lights in the bathroom were burned out so you could barely see at night. I replaced what I could.

-There is a large hole at the bottom of the outside door where something as large as a rat could get in though we didn't see any. We kept the interior door closed all the time in case something decided to visit.

-We were told we could take our kayaks and put in right at the water by the "cottage" but it is a long walk down steps to a not at all scenic lake. It is very industrial. Also, whoever came to mow the grass flipped our kayaks right side up and mowed so all the grass went inside. We were livid because it was really unnecessary.

We had a great time when we weren't at the "mobile cottage" so we stayed there as little as possible. I would not recommend this property unless they drop the price to $100 or less per night.

Owner's Response: Joannabelle we were a little sad for you after reading your comments, and a bit frustrated that you never made any of these concerns known to us when you were here. First of all, our ad specifies that this is a "lake view" cottage - and we reiterate that to our guests when they reserve. You were advised that you could access the lake by walking down to the water about 100yds away. I have no idea what "neighbors" you might have encountered, as this cottage is near the lake and has a great deal of privacy because the property is so large. If you accidentally trespassed on another cottage property, that might explain your experience. This is a mobile unit that is permanently mounted - exactly like all the new units popping up at various resorts around the country. They are very popular. Ours, like all our rentals, is very clean and has new or newer appliances, a large flat screen TV with cable and high speed wireless Internet. Unlike many cottages, it has a very nice hot tub and a fire pit. I'm haven't a clue what you are referring to regarding the ceiling in the bathroom, or the condition. I am 6' tall and I do not come anywhere close to hitting my head on the ceiling. Anyone can see the bathroom photo on our ad. That is exactly as it appears when guests arrive. In fact, many guests have told us how much they like the bathroom colors. I'm sorry about what the lawn people did with your kayak. There is no excuse for that. While we hate to see any guest have a bad experience, in nearly every case guest concerns can be corrected very quickly when they are reported to us. Some of your concerns were fears that never materialized. Had you contacted us while you were staying there, I'm sure we could have improved your experience considerably. While your comments come much later than your stay, we do appreciate hearing from you. It enables us to correct anything we can to improve the experience of future guests. Thanks for letting us know your concerns.
