About the property

Villa with pool sleeps 7+1 in 4 bedrooms, private pool, near restaurant

Casa dell' Acqua is a beautifully restored traditional farmhouse villa, which is wonderfully situated in a large olive grove on a hill overlooking the plain towards Lucca.

This is a special house which offers the opportunities of organised walking, art classes and cooking lessons. This is organised through the agency and with the owner.

The house has lovely features with all modern facilities. It has been only recently restored and has a large olive grove around it. There is a colourful garden and terraces, on one of which an out of ground pool has been erected, great for cooling off or playing in. Casa dell'Aqua is a big house with 4 bedrooms, 2 large doubles, 1 twin bedroom, and 1 bedroom with a small double ( 3/4 ) bed.

There is a large bright living room with a dining area and stone open fireplace, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen with table, and a utility room. There is a very comfortable, cool atmosphere about the old house, with many features including chestnut beams and terracotta ceilings, and lovely tiled floors.

There is good free internet and British satelite TV channels.

Casa Dell' Acqua is so called due to the ancient well in the garden. It is situated on a famous hill known as 'La Bracolleria', which is host to seven small villages, olive groves, vineyards and farms. The Lucca hills are known for the quality of their wine and particularly olives and olive oil. There are fantastic views over the plain to Lucca, and over the Apuane Mountains to the North.

The famous art city of Lucca is only a few kilometres away, and the lovely villages of the Media Valley and the dramatic mountain scenery of the Garfagnana are also nearby. Nearby, within 5 minutes walk, there is a well known restaurant, and many others in the locality. There are also important churches and villages which can be visited on foot.

There are 2 mountain bikes available for the guests to use.

We can help arrange mountain biking, hill walking, horse riding, gorge walking and cooking classes which are all available locally.

Fantastic family time

  • 5 of 5

Recently returned from Casa de'll Aqua and had a fantastic time, the house is large enough for 7 adults and a young child to live comfortably without getting in each other's way.

Definitely would recommend hiring a car as it is quite far from supermarket in Ponte a Mariano, also you will want to explore the beautiful countryside, as in Lucca, Barga, Florence etc. We also did a pasta making day with Rita and we all throughly enjoyed our day.

The restaurant up the hill just some 200m was excellent value for money and the food was amazing as was the wine.

Enzo and Olga where great hosts and paid visits throughout our time with help advice and cakes.

Would definitely recommend and hopefully will return.

Spacious, beautiful views, rustic, clean and well equipped.

  • 4 of 5

We have just returned from 12 days in this spacious beautiful house. With 7 adults we had plenty of space to chill in the beautiful garden or take a quick cooling dip in the pool. The house is situated in the hills away from everyone but we travelled out and about and visited the beaches, a lake, Pisa, Lucca and Florence all wiithin easy reach by car or train.

The only downside to our stay was the constant barking of local dogs at night which woke us all up each night.

Olga and Enzo were on hand if we needed them for anything, hey were very friendly and always appeared with a smile and goodies.

Perfect for us, all we could have wished for.

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't find fault in any way, owner Enzo was very helpful and gave us much appreciated gifts. Bedrooms and bathrooms very comfortable, loved the kitchen. Lounge nice and cool and outside eating area great. The highlight was the pool of course, we were in and out of it all the time. Great views of the beautiful countryside, amazing weather, loved the wildlife; lizards, fireflies, butterflies and birds singing all the time.

Amazing Family home, Wonderful Views

  • 5 of 5

‘ Perfect family villa sleeping 8 people, in 4 double rooms with 2 bathrooms. All the equipment and amenities you need to have an enjoyable stay. The location is outstanding, right near beautiful Lucca and easy to access Train Station which we took into Florence.

Both Enzo and Olga are contactable throughout and assisted with any issues immediately ..They came to see us when we arrived and checked out. They had left some cakes and wine and even bought another gift during the week.

We will certainly return to this area and would recommend this villa. The local restaurants are amazing and worth a visit. We were 4 friends sharing the villa, and had an amazing time’.

Stay at Casa dell"Acqua

  • 5 of 5

The house was wonderful with four bedrooms, 2 modern bathrooms. It was in a beautiful location up a windy mountain road yet 15 minutes to Lucca. The property of olive trees, flowers and herbs was beautiful ad views of the town and mountains were wonderful. Olga and Enzo were very nice, had their son help us with the wifi. Our son's baggage did not arrive for three days from Milan and when they did sent it to Olga's house, she drove it up to our property for us which was very helpful. I would highly recommend staying at this beautiful property.

I do have a significant complaint that Home Away unbeknownst to us added a 10% surcharge to the fee that Olga and Enzo had listed which was an unwelcome surprise. I would not rent again through this agency. They were totally unavailable to speak to for the week before we came to Italy.

We have recently spent two fabulous weeks at Casa dell Acqua in Tuscany. The property is in a beautiful location in the San Guisto di Brancoli area, just above the medieval city of Lucca.

Our holiday was organised through 'Friends of Tuscany' who we found to be excellent in giving guidance on everything that would help our visit to Tuscany as enjoyable as possible.

They gave us contacts for the best hire car company, local restaurants in the area, historical places of interest, and excursions to name but a few.

The owners, Enzo and Olga are extremely friendly and helpful, giving much appreciated information and advice on the history of the local area, and the many interesting places to visit.

Casa Del Acqua is a beautiful villa which has recently been restored by Enzo and Olga. It has its own swimming pool and bbq areas which we used throughout our time there. It is situated in an olive grove, with other interesting plants, flowers and herbs.

The views across the Lucca plain are stunning, well worth the journey up the winding road that leads to the villa, some 2km from the nearest shop and post office.

The City of Lucca is also stunning, and a cycle around the ancient walls is definitely recommended.

A trip to Bagni da Lucca and the ancient Spa is definitely an experience not to be missed, as is an afternoon spent canyoning down a beautiful gorge in the Ganfagnala area.

Our family holiday this year was the best so far. We would recommend Tuscany, and in particular Casa dell Acqua as an amazing location. We found the local restaurants good value, (if you eat where the locals eat), and the local supermarkets inexpensive.

Thanks again to Olga, Enzo and Andrew (Friends of Tuscany), for making our holiday special.

There is a good, inexpensive restaurant only 10 minutes walk from the villa.

The beautiful walled city of Lucca is only 12 kms. away, 15 minutes by car to the centre. Lucca is one of Italy’s famous 'art cities', the labyrinth medieval streets hosting many museums and galleries. Lucca was the home of Puccini, and an opera is performed every single day of the year. There are a number of other festivals, notably the Lucca Summer Festival, which has several concerts throughout July and August, and has hosted Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Sting and Paulo Nutini among many others.

The famous outdoor Puccini festival is also held throughout July and August at nearby Torre del Lago. Lucca is around one hour from Florence and 20 minutes from Pisa by train or car. Other notable local places are the spa town of Bagni di Lucca, with its villas and palazzos, and the village of Ponte di Moriano.
