My husband and I travel a lot, and when we stayed at Winnie and Pat's adorable little cottage in Acra, we were beyond impressed with the space, amenities, seclusion, and the breathtaking views. Winnie and Pat are wonderful hosts and they give us privacy while staying at their cottage. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful woods where you hear birds chirping and smell nothing but clean air! It is simply fantastic! At night, we recommend going towards the state road and finding a cozy spot where you can lay a blanket and look up at the stars. It is AMAZING!! There are lots of cute antique shops nearby and you are able to buy grocery not too far, about 8 miles away, from the cottage. We also recommend going to Tannersville and checking out Last Chance Tavern and Cheese cafe. It is such a quaint town and everyone is super friendly. This was the best stay we have ever had in the Catskill area. We will definitely come back again. Thank you, Winnie & Pat!
This was a wonderful stay. Winnie and Patrick are so hospitable and friendly. So much care obviously goes into this cottage. It's warm, cozy, very clean and comfortable. The wrap around porch is just lovely. My husband and I kept saying that we felt we were in a tree house! The cottage sits on the hill with trees all around,.. so peaceful. Even though the days were warm the evenings were cool and comfortable. We didn't need the air conditioner once. The kitchen is well stocked and the bathroom had all the added touches such as specialty soaps, shampoos, and lotions. Windham Highpeak is right up the road. Great hiking and biking. This is a beautiful area. Thank you Winnie and Patrick for making us feel so at home. We will look forward to our next visit!
My wife and I wanted a quiet getaway weekend in the mountains and are we glad we chose this quaint cozy cottage. My wife loves to cook and I love to eat so the fully stocked kitchen came in handy. Patrick and Winnie were great hosts who are pros in the art of accommodating their guests while respecting your privacy.
We did eat out at the restaurant down the street which was very good too.
There is biking and hiking 5 minutes away. We WILL be back!
I was looking for a quaint, quiet getaway for the weekend and this was perfect. Fully stocked kitchen, comfortable bedroom and living room, very roomy bathroom. Wrap around porch for morning coffee or afternoon sitting was great. The surrounding area of the Catskills and Windham have stunning views. Winnie and Patrick gave us what we needed and sent us on our way. I would absolutely recommend this cottage and plan to return again!
I found this wonderful cottage by accident. We were looking for something new. Been going up to Catskills since 1979. Same place all the time. Needed a change. Well, this was the place. If you are looking for a place "really" away from everything, this is it. The owners Winnie and Patrick are the nicest people you could ever meet. The cottage is stocked. Everything you can possibly need and more. No phones, no internet. The perfect get away from reality. Its the perfect couples cottage. But you are high up. You are right across from Point Lookout. So be prepared for some fog on rainey days. Close to Windham where you can find a really nice steakhouse and pizzeria. Shopping for food is pretty close in Cairo but we still took the trip down the mountain to Leeds and went to our favorite Price Chopper.
Although you dont see the view from your window, all you have to do is walk down the road to see it. It has this awesome wrap around porch and you are covered by trees. The temp is always cooler than down the mountain and we didnt turn the ac on once. It was wonderful.
I can go on and on but I think I about covered it. We were more than happy with our stay.
Oh, there is also this really old cabinet filled with games and books. Found a book I was meaning to read and enjoyed it on the porch.
Tv is local stations but we brought up a dvd player, was able to connect to tv and rented recent release movies at the price chopper every night.
Ok, i will stop now because i can go on. Didnt get to barbque because of the rain but again with the fully stocked kitchen I never minded cooking dinner.
Hope this review helps you. If you find this place, dont hesitate. You wont be sorry.
A weekend away from the city was exactly what we needed and this is a perfect little spot for such a getaway. Hiking trails are about a 5 minute drive, there are some stunning views just a short walk away, but you don't have to leave at all. This place is quiet and pretty secluded - the highway is close by but mostly pretty quiet. It's just lovely to sit on the porch, drink coffee and enjoy the sounds of nature. Winnie and Patrick are great hosts and the kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans and everything you can think of, and the grocery store is nearby. There are also plenty of books, board games, local TV stations, and a CD/radio/record player. Overall just a lovely stay, we will be back for sure.
