Bewilderwood - This has been named “one of the 50 most fabulous things to do in the world” by The Observer. Perfect for children of all ages.

Bure Valley Railway - Based at Aylsham, this is a lovely little railway – good fun for all the children but particularly aimed at younger ones.

Dinosaur Adventure Park - Great for both girls and boys, this is huge fun for all ages. The children can see dinosaurs (not quite alive,) creepy crawlies (very much alive) and unearth fossilised remains plus many more activities.

Seal trips at Blakeney - A very special and wonderful thing to be able to do.

Sticky Earth Café, Cromer - This café is perfect for when the weather is not as we’d wish! A very gentle place to take children of all ages where they can be creative and paint their own pottery, design and print T shirts or make decoupage gifts.

Blickling Hall

This wonderful Jacobean Mansion and gardens boasts former inhabitants including Anne Boleyn, who is said to still haunt the grounds in her carriage. There are beautiful formal gardens as well as stunning parkland which is free to all members of the public. Bicycles can be hired for use in the park and this includes children’s and baby carrying vehicles. There is always an interesting diary of events throughout the summer both in the house and gardens.

Attractions and nearby amenities

The village is only three miles from the historic, market town of Aylsham, which has an abundance of shops, restaurants and pubs.

You also have the popular Georgian towns of Holt and Burnham Market, with their boutiques and antique shops and for some fresh air enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Norfolk coast only 15 minutes drive away.

The beach at Holkham always feels deserted and if you are lucky you may see the Household Cavalry there during the summer while the horses are on their holidays - just perfect.

The house is in an ideal location to explore the beautiful countryside with easy access to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Reserves at Hickling Broad, Ranworth and Cley Marshes.

Go and admire some of the many National Trust properties including Blickling Hall (four miles), which hosts an exciting international programme of open air concerts, both classical and pop, throughout the summer months.

Felbrigg Hall is 10 miles away with its stunning gardens renowned for its rhododendrons and azaleas.

For an enjoyable day out it is perfectly situated for family holidays, visit the seals at Blakeney, the Dinosaur Park at Lenwade, or the children's adventure park, Bewilderwood which is only 15 minutes away.

A miniature railway line links Aylsham and Wroxham, giving perfect access to a day on the Broads.
