I humbly thank you for taking the time to view our rustic cabin which truly is off the beaten path, up a gravel road, one way in and one way out an hour North from a small community, the town of Columbia Falls, we invite you to come and retreat from your everyday traffic jams get away from where people cut you off while driving, he’s shaving, she’s putting on her make up while both are speaking on their cell phones causing a trail of tension. Well, take a chance make a change, make a difference, have a memorable life time experience. Come to this quaint rustic type trappers cabin, get the kids away from their TV, video games this summer/winter and back to the family (DO IT NOW)!! YOU WON’T BE SORRY.

One mile South of Polebridge in Northwest Montana, in the North Fork Valley which is nestled between the Western edge of Glacier National Park and the oldest mountain range on the continent the Whitefish Range which was formed 75 to 100 million years ago this area is truly where heaven meets earth. As I write I just can’t contain myself I just don’t know where to start, ecosystem as intact as can be, imagine! Free roaming Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, (recommended bring bear spray on all outdoor activities, two if you have a large family) Mountain Lions, Moose, Elk, Whitetail and Mule Deer, Wolfs, Coyotes, they all coexists together the more time you spend outdoors the more you see.

Okay, now I’ll get to the cabin just after I tell you about the activities, practically out the cabin door has truly endless activities something for the whole family to enjoy. The view out the front door is Glacier National Park, just minutes away with endless hiking trails pristine remote lakes (Kintla and Bowman) where hiking, swimming, sea kayaking, fishing or just kayak out to have a picnic on one of many lake side locations (please pack your trash out) please leave no trace behind. You may want to raft the North Fork as you fly fish with Glacier in its entire splendor as a back drop, or perhaps a guided raft trip down the Middle Fork of the Flathead River (very fun). As you spend time in the North Fork Valley exploring the sites drive to a couple of hidden lakes Red Meadow, Upper White Fish just to mention a couple. Explore with the family many mountain biking trails the North Fork is a Wild and Scenic designated area, there is something here for every avid explorer that’s in all of us. This wonderful cabin is located one mile South from historical Polebridge Mercantile enjoy the daily fresh baked goods, arts, crafts and antiques. Dine at the Northern Lights Saloon most often in the evenings with live local musician you’ll never want the day to end, we look forward to hearing from you.The Home Ranch Store and Tavern (great barbecue food) is just 3 miles south of the cabin. Quiet solitude

  • 5 of 5

Remarkably clean and efficient, convenient and seemingly new for a 30 yr old log cabin in the middle of nowhere! Exactly where we wanted to be, to feel the presence of the past, to feel the space where so many of our Native American forefathers and mothers once walked, hunted, slept and died. The feel of the North Fork isn't for everyone, but our stay at Snell Cabin was a dramatically refreshing change from the hectic pace we all now live in. The place was priceless!

The perfect place to unplug and unwind!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a place to get away from it all and relax, then this is the place to go! The views of the mountains from the front porch are amazing. My husband and I brought our three children, ages 4, 5 and 7 here and we made so many wonderful family memories. We went hiking, spent time at Kintla and Bowman Lake, cooled off with some huckleberry ice cream at Home Ranch Bottoms just down the road. The fire pit was the perfect place to unwind each night with a campfire, roasting marshmallows and reading stories from a book we found at the cabin, "Montana Campfire Tales." As we ate breakfast each morning, we looked out the window to see the deer right outside in the back eating their own breakfast. It was just perfect. Thank you so much for sharing this special cabin and land with us!

One of a kind experience, cannot imagine a better front porch view

  • 5 of 5

John had everything set up for us when we arrived. He even took my calls when I had questions. Beautiful cabin in a perfect location. There’s a guest book that you sign. I was amazed at how many people were return visitors. We hope to return one day!

SECLUDED

  • 5 of 5

Upon first driving up to this property it was evident that my primary goals (seclusion/quiet/charm/quality) were to be met with ease. I live in a moderately large city with the typical traffic, fast pace, intolerant others that accompany such places. It remains difficult for me to believe that over-population still does NOT get discussed. Anyway, this cabin was of very high quality. I felt a need to contact John 2-3 times during my stay. He was very helpful, friendly and genuinely desirous of helping each time. My contacts with him were not in regard to problems with the cabin at all. I would most certainly return to this off-the -grid cabin, and in fact hope to do so.

Fabulous Place

  • 5 of 5

I think we were one of the first ones to stay at the cabin during the winter. It was a true find! If you love the North Fork and are looking for a winter getaway, go no further. The cabin is well located, minutes from Polebridge and has every thing you could want: hot water, inside bathroom, shower, microwave, etc. The second story balcony is just the place for your coffee in the morning and your evening beverage. John, the owner, is so nice. His call to make sure everything was going well and if we had any questions was a great touch. I am hoping that we get a chance to stay here during one of our summer visits.

If we fly out to Glacier again next winter, I know we will spend some time at the Snell cabin!

The cabin was well maintained and location was perfect while we didn't see any bears the wildlife was abundant from fox to whitetail deer and a lone Black wolf in the field in front of the cabin. If you are looking for a home base for hiking Glaicer or a place to have time for reading a good book the Snell cabin is it. This was a great place Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise
