This well presented holiday property was built in around the 1750s as 2 estate cottages ;it was extended many years later and was formally a village inn, before being converted back into cottages.

With good access to the A55 and lots of areas of interest this is an ideal base to explore North Wales. There are many beautiful local woodland walks and the cottage is in an isolated scenic and quiet area .

Betws-Y-Coed is not too far and Snowdon is also easily reached. There are many historical sites to be visited, as well as the Victorian pier at Llandudno. Golf courses, riding, cycling, fishing and bird watching, locally. Shops, supermarket and pubs within 3 miles.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have stayed in river cottage a few times and absolutely love it, it really is like a home from home! Everything you need nestled in the beautiful Welsh countryside our dogs love coming here they walk for miles! You have everything on your doorstep from walks in Snowdonia to all the coastline beaches! So glad Gwenda & Dave have carried on renting this out as we were gutted our Welsh holidays would come to an end when this beautiful cottage was sold. So looking forward to June! See you then ☺

Lovely cottage!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely weeks stay in River Cottage with me, my husband, our 2 girls and our little dog. It was a brilliant base for us and we were out everyday exploring North Wales and it was lovely to come home everyday to River Cottage, light the fire and have some nice food. We will hopefully be returning next year as we loved it so much!

Peaceful cottage with excellent access to North Wales

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cosy cottage in such a peaceful area, yet within easy reach of main roads providing excellent access across North Wales. Very welcoming, with easy to follow directions provided to find the cottage. It had everything we needed and more (with the hospitality provided by Gwenda and Dave) and very comfy beds. A beautiful part of the country, well worth visiting, with many stunning National Trust Properties nearby such as Bodnant Gardens, Penrhyn Castle, Plas Newydd House and Gardens as well as Chirk Castle and Erdigg, all great for days out with plenty for kids to do too. We had a lovely week and were lucky enough to have blue sky and sunshine all week (was it really Wales we were in). The only problem was that the week went over far to quickly!

Just off the Pilgrims Way ....... 20 mins from A55

River Cottage is a 2 bed terrace (middle cottage in a terrace of 3) in Bont Newyd some 3 miles from St.Asaph accessed via some narrow minor roads. These roads do have regular vehicular traffic and care is required. Car parking is directly opposite the cottage (off-road parking area). The Owners (Gwenda and Dave) offer excellent customer service and provided very accurate directions and a welcome pack of fresh milk/butter/bread/chocolates and Prosecco ! The cottage is very clean and comfortably furnished. We found the interior to be pleasantly cool and shady after a day spent enjoying the beautiful sunny weather. There is no mobile phone signal in the cottage but there is a landline (payphone) and the Wifi connection worked well. The Cottage felt safe and secure (with a large German Shepherd dog resident next door).

We would recommend the George Inn in Abergele for Pub food and a walk along the river bank in St.Asaph (for dogs).

Perfect Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We booked this gorgeous cottage for a week to celebrate our 30th anniversary. It was perfect, warm and welcoming, small enough to be intimate, big enough to not feel crowded. Everything needed was provided, kitchen was more than adequate and the bathroom lovely, warm and comfortable. The cottage was spotlessly clean, Dave and Gwenda left a lovely welcome and even came to see us before we left for home. Our highlights was the country walks from the front door and the organ recital at St Asaphs Cathedral. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and may even have to return someday!
