A large 1000 sq ft, two bed apartment a short walk away from all the attractions of Old and New Town Edinburgh. One double, one twin, one bathroom with a separate bath and walk in shower. Well equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher and washer drier - ideal for those travelling with children. A cot or an extra bed can be provided if needed. A spacious sitting room and small courtyard outside for that extra bit of peace and quiet.

About Jackie

We came to Edinburgh 14 years ago as a family on the suggestion of my husband who remembered visiting his grandparents here as a child and loving it. He thought it was a great place to live and bring up the family - he was right! Over the years Edinburgh has really flourished and now has such a variety of activities, restaurants, walks and bars. All in such a small area. It's ideal for all types of visitors.

Why Jackie chose Edinburgh and Lothians

This part of Edinburgh is a lovely secret - right in the middle of everything but surrounded by parks and gardens making it one of the quietest places to be in a busy city. Within 20 minutes walk (or much less) you could be on your way up to the top of Arthurs Seat, looking round the Scottish Parliament, seeing where Mary Queen of Scots lover was murdered in Holyrood Palace, walking up the Royal Mile which leads to the castle, shopping in Princes Street, admiring the collections in National, royal and commercial art galleries, eating some of the best food in Scotland (we have a Michelin starred restaurant at the end of the road), drinking some of the rarest whiskies in the world, or simply standing and looking at the history of Edinburgh from the top of Calton Hill. One visit is never enough.

What makes this apartment unique

This property is spacious and welcoming. It provides a comfortable place to take a break from sightseeing but is only a walk away from most things and a short taxi, bus or tram ride away from the rest. If you come by car there is ample on street parking. The current cost is £2.50 per hour, Monday to Friday, 8.30 -5.30. If you come by train you can walk from Waverley station, it takes about 20 minutes. If you fly, the airport bus takes you to Waverley and you can walk from there, or take the new tram which takes you to York place, a slightly shorter walk.The apartment has everything laid out on a single floor although the access to the front door is down a set of steps so not wheel chair accessible. If you go and see the Georgian House museum then come back to the flat, you can see how everything was designed and its fun to be living in a part of history even for a while and imagine the previous occupants over the centuries.

Ideally placed to take advantage of Edinburgh's attractions without the need of a car or the stress of parking around town. Whether you're coming for a city break, to follow the trail of many writers, to see shows in the many festivals or to take part in any of our sporting events (5 mins from Holyrood park, 20 mins from the Royal Commonwealth Pool), we're in just the right spot.

Beautiful flat, great hosts.

We had a wonderful stay at the property, the flat itself is great, very large and spacious and finished to a very high standard.

The location is great, a short walk to lots of restaurants and shops, close to the train station and the Royal Mile.

Jackie the host was great, she was there to greet us and offer advice on restaurants etc and was happy to be contacted with any problems (living just upstairs makes this really easy!)

Our only small reservation about the apartment was that any noise from upstairs carried loudly down to us. Not that there was anything oppressive such as loud music but footsteps really were very audible. Saying this however we would still be very happy to return!

Owner's Response: Thanks for this, I'm sorry about the creaky floor, our 200 year old house has some quirks! The floors above the bedrooms are much more solid so at least it's very quiet there if you are sleeping and the footsteps are just above the kitchen and living area when I'm cooking upstairs.

Superb, luxury apartment in a superb location!

We really enjoyed our weekend in Edinburgh in this wonderful, spacious, luxury apartment. Fantastic Georgian architecture with all the comforts of modern living. Thank you Jackie for the milk, tea and biscuits - perfect after a delayed flight! Easy walking distance to Princes Street with lots of bars and restaurants close by and perfect for a festive weekend in Edinburgh. We loved the huge bathroom and walk-in shower! Would love to stay again and highly recommend.

A wonderful spot for our family!

We loved our stay at this beautiful property. Jackie is the perfect host. She is so warm and helpful and goes the extra mile for her guests. We traveled to Edinburgh with our three young children and Jackie made sure the rental was stocked with books and toys for our boys and lovely fresh linens and shampoos for our baby. She even baked a pumpkin pie for us since it was American Thanksgiving. How thoughtful!! The property is clean, comfortable, well laid out and well located. We would stay here again and can easily recommend it to others. Also, the city itself has much to offer!

The apartment was extremely spacious, in very good condition and had all mod cons. Perfect location.

Jackie, our host, was friendly and helpful. She was also flexible with our arrival time and allowed us to leave our luggage in the apartment well after the check out time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and all of those in my party said that they would definitely use the apartment again next time they were in town.

Fabulous flat

My family of three loved our stay in this beautiful flat. It was very high-end, clean & comfortable and Jackie was extremely welcoming and helpful. The flat is actually better in person that the pictures made it appear. The charm and character were fabulous. Taxis were never too far away and many places we visited were within walking distance, including Calton Hill just behind the flat. We loved Edinburgh in general and would love to return someday.
