House was easy to find, and the view was even better than expected (and it changed every 5 minutes.)
Fantastic views! Super home! Crazy road, but doable if you follow directions carefully. Enjoyed our stay.
WOW!!!! Breathtaking Property
Hands down, best place I've ever stayed. Pictures don't do it justice. The views are so amazing on this property you don't even need a cabin, I would've been happy with just a bedroll and a tarp! The cabin is just as beautiful as the views. The decor was very thoughtful and well done. It felt more like a home than a vacation spot. We didn't want to leave. The wood fired hot tub is perfect and I loved having the wood stove in the living room. Couldn't recommend this place enough. Oh yeah...STEAM SHOWER!
Thank you for your super kind review! I wish I could take credit for all this but truly the real recipient of this praise is the site itself that we were gratefully led to and allowed to create a Retreat on. We feel very fortunate to have been welcomed to such a special place on the earth, particularly as we consider ourselves guests there as this is both the home of the Cherokee and what really should have been included in the Great Smoky mountains National Park. It is always great when a guest really "gets" this!
The views of the mountains are unrivaled! Wonderful location!
The house was well equipped and met all of our needs for my family of seven. We really enjoyed the views from the deck of the sunsets every evening. We utilized the grill nearly every night (make sure you bring charcoal), It's a great place for families to gather and relax. The wood fired hot tub was unique and very enjoyable. We are planning future visits to this property.
If you are looking for a place to do some soul healing then you have come to the right place. Water Rock’s picturesque landscape and remote location provides the perfect combination for peace and relaxation. If you have a lot of activities planned, then I would recommend selecting a different location. Like all things wonderful, getting there takes a little effort and time. It is not a journey one would want to make multiple times a day. The serene beauty of the landscape makes Water Rock an idyllic and whimsical retreat. Hands down best views ever!
Thank you for taking the time to write this thoughtful review! You really captured the essence of coming to Waterrock while also letting potential guests know that yes, it is not the best choice if you want to go several places a day in and out (unless you love a mountain drive). We really did create Waterrock for just the purpose you experienced. A place to relax, retreat, recover and connect with nature in, as you said the best views the Great Smokies can offer. Many times guests arrive thinking they want to explore the area and then realize they do not want to go anywhere else! I often say that at Waterrock you can drive right up to a view that one usually has to hike for miles to attain. Thanks again!
It’s an annual tradition for our family to visit the mountains every Thanksgiving.
We choose a cabin based on the location (we love seclusion with a great view). Typically we never stay at the same location twice. Not this time, we have already booked our vacation for next year, back at Water Rock.
The pictures do no justice at all. The views are amazing. It is almost like you’re in your own little world.
Another plus, there are great hiking trails within walking distance from the cabin. Typically we have to drive to them.
A first for us, the wood burning hot tub! Our teenagers loved it. We don’t have those in Florida 😛
We can’t thank you enough for sharing your “little slice of Heaven” with us! We’re looking forward to coming back.
Thank you so much for writing this thoughtful review. Your words here do begin to capture the Spirit of Waterrock. It is hard to convey through words or pictures the unique experience there. One way is to say that it is located as if in the middle of a National Park at a site you would normally have to hike to to attain, but you can drive right up to a comfortable retreat and have it all to yourself. I am so glad you took advantage of all it has to offer including the hot tub and the hiking. We are so happy you are returning. There have been families in the past that have "made it their own" by returning each year and we are so happy to share.
