Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Kalkan - Amethyst

2 bedroom both en-suite. Sleeps 4, A/C, short distance to Kalkan harbour & shops

Apartment “Amethyst” is a brand new modern 2 bedroom luxury accommodation offering spacious and comfortable living. Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with an adjoining balcony. At garden level there is an L- shaped lounge/diner/kitchen leading out to a private shaded eating area and large terrace with shared infinity pool. There is also a very convenient downstairs w.c.

All rooms have fabulous views of the beautiful harbour and bay. The sunsets are something else!

Fully equipped and air conditioned, this apartment is a great spot to chill out and enjoy the ‘al fresco life’.

the Turquoise Coast / Lycia region: There is an abundance of choices for those who wish to explore the area further.

For beach lovers, Kalkan itself has an attractive public beach that is only 10 minutes walk away. “Kapatus Beach” is approximately 10 minutes away (by car/taxi/dolmus). This lovely sandy beach is dramatically located at the foot of the ravine. “Patara Beach” is about 25 minutes away (by car/taxi/dolmus) and is arguably one of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful and unspoilt beaches with 18 km of golden sand.

Kalkan is located in the ancient region of Lycia and many historical sites are relatively close by, including Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara, Tios and Patara.

The attractive harbour town of Kas and Fethiye are also within reach, both having big market days.

About Graham Drysdale

Sue and Graham (on left in photo) are professional people living and working in Essex. Sue has her own business in property rentals and Graham is a general manager in a large furniture store. We have 6 children between us and 10 grandchildren, all who live in the area. We are very busy people!!

Why Graham Drysdale chose Lycian & Turquoise Coast

Firstly the view, secondly the quality of the build, and thirdly the view. We stayed with friends in 2009 in Kalkan and saw the apartment being built. One visit and we knew we had to buy Amethyst. The next season it was ours, for us and our guests to fall in love with it.

What makes this apartment unique

It is so easy to enjoy the apartment and the views. From every aspect you look at the bay either through the Gazebo or across the infinity pool and it never ceases to catch your attention. With the kitchen on the ground floor eating and drinking al fresco is the biggest pleasure, no going up and down stairs countless times. The ground floor loo is also a great advantage. And when you need to cool down, 5 paces and your in the pool.

A little piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

A very well looked after immaculate apartment, containing all essential items and more, amazing views, communication from Graham was very prompt and transfers were arranged without any problems.

The apartment is up a very steep hill but taxis are readily available and cost next to nothing if you don't want to walk, especially in the heat of the summer.

Kalkan has too many restaurants to mention so plenty to chose from to suit various budgets and taste.

We hired a private boat for the day, which I would definitely recommend, lunch on board is amazing and they look after you really well.

Kalkan is a place I highly recommend, I would return to Kalkan and Graham's apartment every year if I could.

Quality apartment with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

The apartment has spectacular views over Kalkan bay and the Mediterranean which you simply never get tired of. It's situated in a very quiet development and the pool and gardens are very well looked after.

The apartment is also very nice, clean and finished to a very high standard. Everything you could ever need is also provided as well as a comprehensive 'local guide' put together by the owner which really helped us.

Kalkan itself is a lovely town which feels a lot more tradtional and more upmarket than the likes of Marmaris or Icmiler which have become very commercialised. Even though Kalkan is more upmarket, the cost to eat and drink out is still very reasonable, especially with the current (2015) exchange rate where we were eating a full meal and drinks for 2 for around £25 each.

The boat trips are a must when in Turkey. These typically cost around £10-£20 for a whole day cruising around the coves and islands just off the coast, including a delicious barbeque lunch. When we went in late June/early July the boats were not even half full.

Others things i'd recommend are the Turkish bath and of course a Turkish shave.

I've not yet mentioned the weather, although if you go during the summer months then there's really no need to mention it as it's going to be lovely!

Great communication from Graham the owner throughout, who will even organise airport transfers. 5 stars.

Fantastic Holiday

  • 5 of 5

On arrival to the apartment, it all was as stated in the description The apartment was lovely, well equipped, clean and with the most wonderful views of Kalkan. Graham and Sue kindly arranged our transfers which worked very smoothly both ways. The restaurants are all very good. We took a boat trip one day which was excellent. We visited Kas, a village about 30 minutes away and my son went paragliding . An awesome experience for him, he loved it. All the tips left in the visitors guide were helpful.

We will certainly like to return again soon.

Kalkan area

Kalkan once a thriving fishing village is now a beautiful sophisticated holiday destination. Narrow cobbled streets flow down through the historic town to the ancient harbour, where yachts sit side by side with quaint and small fishing boats. You can observe all this from a great selection of high quality restaurants, many with roof top terraces. For those who enjoy shopping there is a wide variety of boutiques, to shops featuring local crafts. Kalkan's lovely harbour and spectacular scenery makes this an ideal choice for those seeking somewhere just a bit special!
