Description

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday villa in Laroque-des-Albères - Hi and welcome to 'Belle Vue'

**NEW FOR 2016** - Large pool, 5 bedrooms, fabulous views of nearby mountains.

Our lovely villa is perfectly located on the outskirts of the charming villages of Sorede and Laroque des Alberes and yet has open countryside and spectacular views right on your doorstep. It is only a 5 minute walk to the village centre of Sorede where there are 6 great restaurants and shops to cater for all your needs. The villa is south-west facing so has a fantastic sunny aspect wrapped around a stunning large pool which is 12m by 4m and is arguably one of the best pools in the area. The pool has an easy to operate electric cover for security and it also helps to keep the pool warm and clean. Our home has every facility to accommodate up to 10 people plus a baby in great comfort, including air-conditioning and free WiFi. We are only 10 minutes away from the stunning sandy beaches of Argeles - voted one of the best beaches' in France. This spacious villa will not disappoint you offering you luxury in a beautiful location.

This very comfortable, and modern villa is furnished to a high standard. It has an open plan kitchen with dishwasher and a dining area to seat 10 comfortably. The large comfortable lounge has a log burner for those visiting in the winter months and it is also equipped with a large SMART TV with Netflix and sound system.

There are 5 large bedrooms, 3 shower rooms (one with a bath), a downstairs WC and a utility room. We have a large garage and ample parking for 4 or 5 cars. There is a south east facing sun terrace to the front of the house which catches the morning sun and is an ideal area for breakfast. We have covered outside terraces with a table seating 10, a BBQ and various other seating areas around a stunning 12 metre swimming pool.

We supply a travel cot, high chair and stair gates for our younger guests along with a selection of board games, a darts board and a table tennis table. An Xbox 360 console with games is also available along with a collection of books and DVDs. A couple of bikes are provided as you have access to some fabulous rides right on the doorstep - this part of France is fantastic for cycling and for the real enthusiast we can recommend some amazing and if required, challenging routes!

The gardens are attractively landscaped with mature shrubs and plants on all sides of the property. This villa is ideal for those who wish to relax and get away from it all, but there is also so much to see and do locally. The accommodation would suit two families holidaying together as there is plenty of space for all.

Belle Vue is an excellent base for exploring the area, you can visit wine yards, cathar castles, great mountain trekking, skiing (under 2 hours away), play golf, bicycling, horse riding and not at least you are near some of the greatest beaches of France.

About Clare Thorne

Hello and welcome to what is a brand new adventure for me and my family.

We purchased Belle Vue in September 2015 having fallen in love with it on our first viewing. We intend to move into the property in 2018 but in the mean time hope to be able to share it with visitors who we know will love it for its fantastic situation, great swimming pool, views, facilities and location.

My husband and I have never let a property before but we have been visiting this region for many years. We have some great friends who have now lived here for some time and are on hand to assist with their experience, local knowledge and expertise.

This is an exciting time for us and we hope you will share it with us and get as much pleasure as we do from staying at Belle Vue.

Clare Thorne purchased this villa in 2015

Why Clare Thorne chose Alberes

Belle Vue is situated in in the foothills of the Alberes and although the official address places it in the village of Laroque des Alberes it is actually closer to the centre of Sorede village. This is great as it gives us the best of both worlds; both village squares are within easy walking distance so we have a great selection of restaurants, shops and village activities.

What makes this villa unique

The location and views from Belle Vue are fantastic, you can walk straight out of the property, along the Sorede river, past 'la Vallée des Tortues' and up into the the mountains. Within minutes you have views down to the sandy beaches of Argeles and up into the stunning Vallée Heureuse.

Everything you could possibly want!

  • 5 of 5

This has to be one of the best villas we have ever stayed in. The villa itself is well designed with good proportioned rooms. It has plenty of bathrooms for the number of bedrooms. The whole place feels very modern and spacious. Normally we like to travel around quite a bit while on holiday, but we felt so comfortable at the villa, we spent a lot of time lazing around the pool over our 2-week stay. Although it's located along a road with other properties, the way the villa is positioned and the generous garden make it feel quite private. It's also a short stroll from the center of Sorede, so you get the best of both worlds - near shops and restaurants but still in a quiet peaceful area. The pool was delightfully warm. The warmest pool we've ever enjoyed at a villa. This is probably because it gets full sun all day long until the sun goes down, and the pool cover must keep in a lot of heat over night too. We spent a lot of time in the pool and our 7 month old baby loved it! It was great having table tennis in the garage, and the use of 2 bicycles. We also loved the big gas BBQ, my husband wants one just like it! My husband also appreciated having the xbox to play FIFA. The property has everything you could want.

The caretakers, Julie and her husband Andy, were fantastic. They couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. It was good to know we only had to send them a text if we had any problems, and they would respond straight away.

Sorede makes a great holiday destination as it is only 15-20 minutes drive to the beaches, and you also have the beautiful mountains. Argeles-sur-Mer is a typical seaside resort, with lots of restaurants and a wonderful icecream place in Allee Jules Aroles. Collioure is also an interesting quaint town to visit with narrow streets and cute little shops. We also went into Spain one day to a picturesque place called Banyoles and went rowing on the lake there.

We had a great holiday here and we would definitely come again, even though there are evil mosquitoes everywhere! Next time we'll be better armed against them.

Thank you Clare and Tim for the use of your lovely Belle Vue villa!

Well maintained property

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous villa. Fabulous part of France.

We only stayed a week, but wished we had booked for two. We had wonderful weather, so spent much of our time lounging around the pool and visiting the local beaches.

The villa itself is extremely well equipped, was immaculately clean, spacious and very comfortable.

It is in a great situation and we loved the short cycle ride into the centre of the village every morning (on bikes provided with the villa) to buy our fresh baguettes and croissants from one of the local bakeries.

On arrival we were greeted by the owners' friendslance. They couldn't have been more helpful, showing us around the property, explaining how everything worked and offering information about the local area. The owners had also left very comprehensive instructions as well as lots of literature maps and leaflets about the local area.

The views from the villa were so pretty. The mountain of Canigou shimmering in the heat haze from one aspect and then the closer Alberes range from another.

This is definitely a villa I would recommend to others and I look forward to returning with my family in the near future.

A Perfect Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Sometimes you walk into a vacation home and it's disappointing from your expectations, but this home was the opposite: It far exceeded our expectations! Clare and Tim have created a holiday home that is beautiful and our family knew upon setting foot on the property that it was going to be a terrific vacation. We travel for a month with our six children, ages seventeen down to seven, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house is open and airy, extremely clean, tastefully decorated, and has comfortable beds and a great floor plan to enjoy cooking while keeping an eye on the pool. The pool is meticulously maintained and absolutely beautiful. We have missed it every day since returning home! From each window and from the pool there are beautiful views of mountains and foliage - everything is so green and flowers are plentiful. In addition, the property caretakers (friends of the owners) go above and beyond to ensure comfort. The neighbors are also lovely - everyone was so kind we actually felt like we lived there! The house is located between two villages, both of which are easily walkable. It's possible to walk to several very good restaurants and pizzerias, a small grocer, a park for playing sports, the river, the post office and tourist office, the historic center of Laroque with it's winding stone streets, and also up into the mountains. If you enjoy walking, you'll never tire of available paths. The area is stunning with endless opportunities for adventure! In our four weeks, we were able to swim in the Mediterranean, discover rock pools, take a coastal drive into Spain, visit Perpignan with it's historic center, museums, and cathedral, where we had the treat of a private organ performance that reverberated throughout the church, hike into the Pyrennes behind the house to experience amazing views, ride the yellow train deeper into the Pyrennes, walk through world's narrowest gorge, visit forts, shop and dine in Collioure, attend an English speaking church, browse through markets, experience a local festival with traditional Catalan dancing, and hang out in Sorede's main square to listen to live music. I could go on... We spent a perfect four weeks in Belle Vue and, while we rarely return to the same place twice, this is a house that we hope to return to next summer!

Excellent villa in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

Belle Vue was clean, well appointed and everything, internet included, worked exactly as it should. You get a full range of English televison channels courtesy of some clever broadband setup. Clare has thought of everything that you might need for your stay including a couple of bicycles.

The kitchen was large, modern and well equipped so ccoking up some of the excellent local produce is a breeze.

The swimming pool is much larger than is normal for a holiday let - your kids will love it and the views form the main bedroom are truly quite stunning (all of the upstairs bedrooms have good en-suite showers and loos).

The villa is excellently situated for an easy walk into either Sorede, with it's very 'local' square and Bar or Laroque Des Alberes, a beautiful old catalan village with a labyrynth of charming narrow streets and a 12th century castle. I would urge you to spend an afternoon exploring Laroque and then repair to the Catalan restaurant in La Place de la Republique for an ice cold beer.

If you have younger children they will find that Argeles Sur Mer, a five minute drive away, is everything kids believe a seaside town should be and for the grown ups, Collioure is ideal for an evening promenade and a visit to any of a number of excellent restaurants.

In short, the location is excellent, as is the Villa, and I happily give it five stars.

Superb villa in a location that has it all.

  • 5 of 5

The property was very comfortable, spacious, and extremely well appointed, providing the perfect family holiday base for exploring the whole region of the Pyrenées Orientales. It is situated securely within a boundary wall with lockable gates, and is entirely suitable to accommodate all ages.

There are stunning views from the terrace, which overlooks the beautifully maintained swimming pool. The garden surrounds the house, and there are plenty of tables and chairs strategically placed, providing a wide choice of seating, according to the time of day. Mine was an early spring visit (the blossom was wonderful) when it was really warm in the sunshine but a little chilly after dark, so the log burning fire in the spacious sitting room was most welcome after dinner.

The village is delightful and friendly, only ten minutes’ walk from the property, so getting the croissants and baguettes for breakfast was no problem. One evening we walked down to one of the restaurants for an excellent and reasonable meal; the clientele were mostly locals – always a good sign. During my stay we also visited the “cave” in the village, which provides tastings and a wide variety of wine.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, and am looking forward to the next time! Meanwhile I can thoroughly recommend this property, which I consider ideal for a family holiday in a truly beautiful part of France.

Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this brilliant villa. It's a stones-throw from the centre of Sorède and close enough to Laroque des Alberes which also has great cafés and restaurants. The house itself is well appointed and we lacked nothing. Although it was February the house stayed warm due to the wood-burner and reversible air-conditioning. The owners gave us plenty of ideas for days out and we ate at some fabulous local restaurants. The mountains are stunning at this time of year and the view of them from the garden was spectacular. I can highly recommend a stay in this area and particularly at this house. We are looking forward to returning next year!

Argeles sur Mer (Voted one of the best in France)
Car: recommended

Sorede is an authentic friendly typically Catalan village located at the foot of the Massif des Alberes in the Pyrenees-Oriental (Languedoc Roussillion region) in the south of France. It is 9km south of Perpignan and only 6km from the sandy Mediterranean beaches of Argeles Sur Mer, making it an ideal holiday choice.

It offers a full range of shops including bakers, butchers, a greengrocer and newsagent. There is a helpful tourist office, post office, cash dispenser and a well equipped children’s playground. Sorede has a twice weekly market, where the locals gather for a chat. It can be fun to sit and watch enjoying a coffee or aperitif in the local tapas bar. The village square is a wonderful place offering plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from. There are often musical evenings hosted here. Tennis courts, and boules are located in the village centre and on the outskirts is Ranch des Alberes which offers horse riding.
