The farmhouse is set on a south-facing hillside and enjoys spectacular views over un-spoilt countryside down to the sea. Set on 4 acres of grounds and gardens, this charming farmhouse, dating from 1916 is very well furnished in an antique, rustic style and it is just a few minutes drive from the town of Estoi. The Eastern Algarve is still unspoilt and relatively underdeveloped offering a more relaxed atmosphere for those wishing to escape the bustle of the main tourist areas while still having access to glorious beaches frequented more by the locals. Fascinating historic town of Faro within easy reach, and the historic town of Loule, famous throughout the Algarve for its many craft shops and markets. The pretty fishing village of Olhao is 8 kms away. Ideally situated between the east and west Algarve golf courses. Spain is easily reached within 40-45 minutes.

Main House: The main house is divided into two distinct self contained living spaces each having their own kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom.

Wood cabin: There is a self-contained wood cabin on the property that sleeps 2-4 which is included in the rental when the party is larger than 8. It has one bed, bathroom and living area with convertible bed and small kitchen.

THE PERFECT GETAWAY

MAJESTIC VIEW OF FARO AND THE SEA. THE HOUSE IS CHARMING AND WELL APPOINTED. NOTHING IS LACKING. THE LOCATION IS QUIET. THE AIR FRESH AND CLEAN. VITOR IS ATTENTIVE . WE'VE RENTED MANY PLACES ALL OVER THE WORLD AND THIS IS THE BEST SO FAR. NO SURPRISES OR DISAPPOINTMENTS WITH THIS RENTAL, JUST THE OPPOSITE. WE WERE MORE THEN PLEASED. OUR TIME HERE WAS SPECIAL.

Awesome Property!

We are a family of 5 from the U.S. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the unique nature of the home and peaceful setting. The town of Estoi is quaint and it is a breeze to get around the greater Algarve region from the home. The owners and house manager were always very responsive and all communication and information was timely and accurate. We highly recommend this property and will do so to family and friends. Fabulous place with tons of space

My wife and I spent a wonderful week here this summer in this original farmhouse not far from Faro. It's a superb house with a nice view and plenty of space to accommodate a lot of people, and has a lovely outdoor area for bbqs. It's also excellently located for seeing lots of beautiful villages along the coast. Highly recommend this place!

Fantastic house in an idyllic location - highly recommended

We travelled to Faro to attend a nearby wedding and it's a short drive to Estoi from Faro airport ( we picked up a car Zit auto car hire , also recommended! It's also possible to get a bus to Faro and taxi to Estoi) Actually it's a little bit tricky after Estoi so watch out for the sharp right turn down to the farmhouse, which is set in the sun drenched rolling hills. When you arrive and get out of the car , prepare to exhale and begin to relax in a little bit of heaven. I spent the days before the wedding just unwinding by the pool, preparing sumptuous meals in the mediterranean style kitchen or relaxing out of the sun in the very comfy lounge. Friends were arriving over the next two days and the night before the wedding we had a full house- I think there must have been at least 9 people staying, including a few babies. The two houses, each with kitchen and bathrooms, means it's very easy for different groups, or couples with kids, to come and go independently while the big dining kitchen and dining room in the main house allows for us all to come together and enjoy communal meals. Actually because of the amazing weather all of our evenigns were spent eating al fresco on the big stone table, enjoying amazing bbq fish and meats and veg, all brought locally in nearby Estoi or Faro. There's lots to do and visit nearby and a few of our party went on daily road trips but personally I was happy to chill out by the pool and read and go for easy walks along the country roads and through the fields, with their stones walls, olive trees and nervous sheep! I did get a bit of surfing in; good surfing spots are less than an hour away on the motorway. Highly recommended spot - we definitately hope to get back.

Great place overlooking Faro

This was the first time that we've rented using VRBO and the experience was fantastic. My wife and I arrived to find the home EXACTLY as listed. The villa was clean, and very well-equipped with all necessary items. Since we were there during some cool days, it was nice to have the pellet stove and the wood-burning fireplace - fuel was provided!

The hosts were very accessible and answered all of our questions honestly and without hesitation.

Since we were in the Algarve region for 2 months, we saw beaches from the most westerly point to the most easterly. One of our favourites was Albufeira, which although touristy, also had much to offer. Our favourite restaurant was Galeria dos Sentidos located in Estoi. The food was fantastic, the service was attentive, and the prices were reasonable (actually more than reasonable).

We regularly went to the market in Olhao (about 10 km away) on Saturdays, where there was lots of fresh seafood and locally-grown produce. There are small grocery stores in Estoi, but we recommend driving into Faro to buy groceries at the Continente Supermarket, which has reasonable prices and a very good selection. Just down the street from the main church in Estoi is a fabulous little bakery specializing in pastries and fresh bread. Go early if you expect to get the good stuff!

Since the villa is located about 15 km outside Faro (and 3 km from "downtown" Estoi), we highly recommend renting a car at the Faro airport. The villa is very easy to find on Google Earth, but we certainly would not be without our GPS, since we often took backroads to get to where we were going. Our experience with Portuguese drivers was that they tend to drive quickly, but are generally courteous, so driving was not nearly as stressful as we were led to believe.

If visitors are staying in Portugal for an extended period, we recommend going to Sintra (stay in Lisbon and take the train from Rossio Station). It's a 3-hour drive and well worth the 2 or 3 days you would need to do justice to the area. If you drive a further 2-3 hours north, you'll find the beautiful city of Porto - again, 2 or 3 nights are recommended. We took a one-day boat tour of the Douro Valley and returned to Porto to enjoy the local night life. The restaurants in Gaia (just across the river) are less expensive and offer a more "Portugal" experience. We found Club Fluvial to offer a perfect blend of Fado music, food, and drink - everything included, for a price of 15 euros per person.
