Small town living with quick access to beautiful Niagara Falls or Grand Bend
About Patricia DeJongh
At the age of 57, I have had a very successful career at my local hospital as a nurse. I have spent 37 years of my life helping people. As my retirement date is looming, I am looking at what I can do in my future as a retired nurse. I am going to have a ton of free time! Becoming a VRBO host seems like the most obvious choice of pass times because it still gives me the ability to help people. You know what they say...."once a nurse, always a nurse!" It will also give me the freedom to do more travelling myself. Since my retirement date is creeping closer and closer, I am inclined to start hosting now. I guess you can say that I am practicing to see how well I do. I have a pretty good feeling about the idea and think that I am going to love it. Time will tell. Come and visit me to see how I'm doing as a new host. Can't wait to meet you.

Why Patricia DeJongh chose Woodstock
Nestled into an older area of Woodstock, my home provides the safety and comfort of small town living. The neighborhood is a friendly one with happy and helpful neighbors. It is a quiet and cozy setting. The back yard in spring, summer and fall is very private and provides wonderful out door living opportunity. Dine out doors, watch a little TV, read a good book, soak in the hot tub. Pick and enjoy the fresh peaches from 2 of my peach trees. One of the biggest bonuses of living in this area is the ability to seek out daily adventures in nearby cities or beaches. Woodstock is located in the heart of southern Ontario. Some of the most well-known cities of Southern Ontario are Barrie, Guelph, Hamilton, Kingston, Kitchener, London, Peterborough, St. Catharines-Niagara, Waterloo, and Windsor, and largest among them, Toronto and Ottawa. Woodstock is very central to a lot of desirable locations with quick access to Highways 401 and 403: Stratford (Stratford Festival Theater) is 39 km or 40 min car ride. Saint Jacobs (St. Jacobs Market) 70 km or 50 min car ride. Cambridge (African Lion Safari) 50 km or 40 min car ride. Kitchener Waterloo (Center in the Square) 56 km or 45 min car ride. Brantford (Home of Wayne Gretzky) 42 km or 30 min car ride. London 56 km or 40 min car ride. Toronto (downtown) 135 km or 1 hour 20 min car ride. Niagara Falls 150 km or 90 min car ride. Port Stanley (Beach) 84 km or 1 hour car ride. Port Dover (Beach) 72 km or 50 min car ride. Grand Bend (Beach) 101 km or 1 hour 15 min car ride.

During your stay in Woodstock, the Dairy Capital of Canada, you will be walking distance from my home to coffee shops, grocery stores, liquor and beer store, pharmacy, restaurants and food take out, 2 small pub/bars. Don't forget to wander by Woodstock's famous cow "The Springbank Snow Countess." She is just a 5 minute walk away! You will also be a 5 minute walk away from OLG Slots at Woodstock Raceway which is at the same site as the Saturday morning Farmer's Market. There are also plenty of golfing opportunities at one of the many golf courses here in Oxford County. Episode 3 of my 'Small Town Getaways' series with Ontario's Southwest recorded an episode in Oxford County and visited Woodstock. Check out what to do for a weekend getaway, including a visit to Gunn's Hill Artisan Cheese, dining at sixthirtynine, and drinks at Upper Thames Brewing Company by checking out the episode on "Small Town Getaways'.
